If you have any problems with your blog or blogging related issues, you are welcome to post them here and maybe someone can offer you some help.

Tony Talbot | 3 comments I have trackthatstat installed on my wordpress, but it doesn't seem to work very well. Is there an alternative?

Also, how do I set up an RSS feed so people can get RSS updates from my blog?

Thanks in advance!

message 3: by Forrest (new)

Forrest I'll second the RSS feed question, though I'm on blogger, not wordpress.

Ok so firstly... in my opinion... there is no better traffic and clicks tracker better than google analytics. Sign up there and link it to your blog. It's real time and it's far more reliable than any other traffic tracker.

You can see pretty much every activity that goes on at your site.

Secondly - with regards to RSS feeds, I'm not a pro in that department. What I do know is that I use Feedburner and I've linked my site up there. But then again I work on blogger so I might not have the best solution for you regarding this.

I have seen that wordpress has it's own rss feed codex:
http://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_...

So have a look and see which works best. Feedburner is simple and requires very little work and absolutely no upkeep.

(Forest) Since you are on blogger too, I'd definitely suggest feedburner for you since it's a google application and well, blogger is a google product : http://feedburner.google.com

Hope I answered your questions and helped a little with your problems :)

Thanks Laurynne, I'll give those a shot tonight!

message 6: by Forrest (new)

Forrest Thanks, Laurynne. The whole feeder thing is a little mind boggling to me, but I think I'm figuring it out. Really appreciate the direction!

message 7: by Forrest (new)

Forrest Now here's where my ignorance is really going to shine. I've signed up for google analytics and I have the code needed to track things . . . but I have no idea how to plug the code into the pages I wish to track. I get to the layout section in blogger and it seems to only "take" gadgets. Where do I go to actually get at the source code and where should I plug in this tracking code?

message 8: by Laurynne (new)

you paste the source code in a html/java widget. and drag it in your layout to the bottom. It's hidden so you can really place it anywhere since it wont be seen. :)

Trinka (mstrinkav) Hi group! :-) I want to upgrade my blog's look. I've been playing around with the layout. After viewing some of your blogs, there's obviously some features on Blogger than I'm not familiar with. Laurynne your blog is awesome! Any tips or guidance will be greatly appreciated. http://www.mstrinkav.blogspot.com

You will have to be a little more specific Trinka of what you are looking at doing.

Tell me what kind of features are you looking at and I'll try to steer you in the right direction :)

I apologize. Mainly, I'm wondering how you insert custom headers onto your blog? I see templates on others' blogs that are not available in the blogger options and wondering how do you design your own. I'm hoping that's not too vague. :-)

You can make custom headers by using dimensions of your blog (might need to look for it somewhere in Customize Template and then widths) and then choosing your own height. (for the base of the header)

Not sure if I'm going in the right direction... but I think you mean tinkering with graphics and then uploading it? o-o

Trinka (mstrinkav) Yes Sophia! that's what I mean--tinkering with the graphics. thank you!

Trinka, if you don't have any graphics programes, Picmonkey.com is a great site with quite a bit of graphis, collage templates, picture editing and so on available for free usage. For the full package upgrade you'd have to pay, but it's minimal. To start with though, there is more than enough to keep one busy while learning your way around. :)

*edit* graphics!

Trinka (mstrinkav) Great! Thanks Sandra! I think I have enough info to get me started now. Thanks ladies! :-)

message 17: by Tony (new)

Tony Talbot | 3 comments Trinka - you might also want to look at PAINT.NET which is alao a free graphics editor - doesn't come with any extras though.

Melanie (melanie_yamidnightreads) Hey guys, do any of you know how to make a semi transparent blog background? Thanks in advance :)

Sandra Valente (SandraValente) Melanie wrote: "Hey guys, do any of you know how to make a semi transparent blog background? Thanks in advance :)"

Melanie, do you mean: main background, post background, outer background? Have you played around in your Blogger Template background tab? There are 3 options there and all offer a 'transparency' tab. If you mean your blue starry background, then I don't think you can make that semi-transparent unless you make your own background where the opacity isn't so high. Of course, you could mean something completely different to what I'm asking and talking about here. :)

message 21: by Melanie (new)

Melanie (melanie_yamidnightreads) I mean my post background, like with my posts and side bar tabs. Sorry for not sorry for not clarifying before. I've played around with my advance settings but from what I've searched on the web, I need to find a code CSS I've tried some but none of them work :/

If it's css that you want to edit... I'll be back tomorrow to give you some help with this.

I believe I understand what you are wanting, but we'll just have to check for sure.

You want the background behind your post - not your main site background (the stars and such), to be semi transparent? - Like you can almost see the stars, but not fully?

If this is correct - >

Then...I have a stupid question: Your main background is a little 'busy' (with all the stars and the dark colors) - don't you think that doing a transparency on your secondary background (ie the white behind your post) will make your post text hard to read? Just curious... because as a reader, it probably would bother me when I read your posts :)

message 23: by Melanie (new)

Melanie (melanie_yamidnightreads) That's right but I was thinking of changing my 'outer background' to something more simple instead of the stars. I look forward to your help:)

message 24: by Harman (new)

Harman (hakaurvamp) Hi! Do any of you know how to make your own background for blogger. I don't like the templates that blogger has to offer.

Laurynne I love your blog! How did you get those social media buttons?

message 25: by Laurynne (new)

Laurynne Gouws (laurynnegouws) | 47 comments Mod
Hi Harman

I created my own buttons to match my blog design :)

As for backgrounds if you google image search, you should find a good couple you can use.

Laurynne, I signed up for the Feedburner. I think I followed the instructions. Do I have to go somewhere else to see what it does for me? This is all new for me.

what software do you use to create your buttons? I've been wanting to learn how to do this. Thanks!

Kelly (Diva Booknerd) (divabooknerd) Actually, I have a question. I've contacted Bloglovin' several times to ask about being able to customise the follower count display. You know, that little blue or pink button, but they refuse to answer. Does anyone know a way to display the count and customise the button to match a blog?
