Ta da! I just stumbled upon a book website dedicated to Tudor books only. Check it it, looks promising:http://www.tudortimes.com/books.htm

Thanks for posting Colleen! That site looks awesome. Unfortunately, I tried to open it at work and had my speakers on. When I opened it the music started playing incredibly loud in my office! LOL
It is! Can't wait to really have a look around it. If you're interested, here's one I've had in my favorites for a while with all Tudor-related movies.

I either did not understand the rules or the chain broke down, as it seems to revert to comments and discussion.
Erssie, we tend to get off topic a lot in this group :)Do you have a book you'd like to recommend so we can get back to the chain?

I just finished "The Last Queen" by C.W. Gortner. I highly recommend this historical novel about Queen Juana of Castile. Anyone else read this? What's your opinion?
I posted this book on the thread for Mary Queen of Scots books but am putting it here too since it was really good. A Question of Guilt A Novel of Mary, Queen of Scots, and the Death of Henry Darnley It is done after Marys execution and told from the view of a woman trying to find out answers as to if the queen were guilty as charged. I am also nearly done with The Spanish Bride A Novel of Catherine of Aragon This one while so far has not given me new information has been a very easy and nice read. Told from the view of one of her ladies in waiting. The story line is done very well.
Colleen - I love the Tudor only book site. It is now bookmarked, and I am sure will be damaging to both my TBR and my pocketbook. My husband is not thanking you, lol.
Tell your husband, Lyn, I'm sorry to enable and addiction but I am an addict too! teeheeWen that book sound interesting, thanks for the link post! :)

Henry Cavill as Brandon in The Tudors is amazing :)
That's all! If I think of or find a book chain that's not already mentioned I'll be sure to come back with it to make up for the lack of substance in this post.
I am most excited - my mother found one, possibly two, unread Elswyth Thanes about the Tudors at the library today!

Has anyone else read her tudor series?

I didn't get any Tudor books, but I did get money to spend on books, which I haven't decided how to spend yet.
I highly recommend The White Queen by Philippa Gregory. This book is her newest. The book is about Elizabeth Woodville and her life. It is so fascinating to read the roots of how Tudor history came into being. It is a breath of fresh air and good reading from beginning to end. I got this copy from the library. I like to get them from the library and if I love them I buy a copy for my own library. This is a keeper people!!
Rose - I have pre-ordered it in trade paperback so that it matches my other Phillipa Gregory books. I can't wait.
I have to admit that I didn't finish the White Queen... Found the style irritating and there were outright errors of fact. It's one of the only books by Gregory that I just couldn't read at all. I'm hoping Red Queen will be better -- Margaret Beaufort is a very very intriguing character.
Rose wrote: "I highly recommend The White Queen by Philippa Gregory. This book is her newest. The book is about Elizabeth Woodville and her life. Since it is a novel, the inconsistency of facts didn't bother me at all.
Even when it's fiction (unless I'm reading about imaginary worlds), I like what I read to be consistent with the facts. Otherwise, it breaks my concentration -- that kind of reverie you go into when reading a good book -- as I go "what?? where did THAT come from?" That happened early on, when Gregory portrays the Woodvilles as still being Lancastrian loyalists years after they had changed sides, and become insurmountable when Jacquetta was accused/found guilty of witchcraft. In fact, she was explicitly acquitted in 1470. Obviously that's not going to bug a lot of readers -- just as it didn't bother me in TOBG (although i did irk a lot of people) that she had the birth order of the Boleyn siblings wrong. To me, it's a matter of how important the problem area is to the plot, and how major a rewriting of history it is, both in absolute terms and in the eyes of any individual reader.
I am reading good and not so good reports on The White Queen. I am not certain that I like Phillippa Gregory anymore after reading so many nonfiction books. I do like Legacy, a novel, though. So I don't know whether to order the Jacquetta book.
If you liked Legacy, try the Ivy Crown. It's about Catherine Parr, and it's well-written and really grabs the reader.

Suzanne wrote: "If you liked Legacy, try the Ivy Crown. It's about Catherine Parr, and it's well-written and really grabs the reader. "I really enjoyed Ivy Crown, there's a whole lot more to KP's life than the average Tudor reader realizes.
PS, I did not care much for PG's The White Queen either.
Misfit - Somehow the fact that you didn't like The White Queen doesn't surprise me, lol. It doesn't seem like your type of book. I got The Ivy Crown back when we were all talking about it, but have not gotten a chance to read it. I have it slated to read sometime during the next few months. I am really looking forward to it.
