Peter wrote: "Set during the German occupation of Warsaw during WW2, about a family of children whose parents have been taken away."I've read that—it also goes under the alternate title Escape From Warsaw. I thought it was really good.
Project Gutenburg is an online service that has a catalogue of about 40,000 free ebooks. They can be read online, in HTML, or in ebook format or Kindle. You can find lots of books whose copyrights have expired. Just search it online, or, if I'm not mistaken, there may be a link here to it when you click to look for books.~Hannah
I have to put "The Hobbit" on my to-read list... I've been wanting to read it, but my library has a tough time actually going any faster than a snails-pace when I place a hold on any of Tolkien's books.
You'll have to tell me what you think of it when you get a chance to read it, Renna! I love that book. :D
I've known for years that I do not meet the requirements to be called a true fantasy writer, Kaleb, but no one on HW seems to care... ;)

Having not read The Hobbit, no biggy, its only the ardent ones who really care, the rest of us to like to read and talk about books with like minded individuals.
Today I finished Studies in the Sermon on the Mount by Martyn Lloyd-Jones, which was absolutely superb...also very long. I've been working on it for months.
*grins* Thanks, Peter! And believe me, I will read it... It's just one of those things that tends to slip through the cracks. -.- But! That's what this challenge is for--getting me to read all those "loose ends"!
Hannah wrote: "Yes, I wrote a review...and it's free on Project Gutenburg."Can you post a link? It's not showing up on the book page. >.< Free is always good. :)
I will see if this works...I'm on my tablet and haven't figured out how to do the links quite right... Let me know if it works or not.http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/searc...
Each book's page comes up automatically to the download page. If you click on "Bibrec" you can see links to the author page, tags for genre, and number of downloads.

Oh...sorry. The link works just fine, but I meant the link to your review. >.>

(smile with sunglasses on, got a head cold this morning)
*grins knowingly* If we all just read the "classics" or what everybody else liked, we'd never discover new favorites...
Oh! Finally finished reading through Peter's Angel, so that's out of the way. Now I can move on to reading some other stuff, and also move on with writing the saga!
That brings me to 10 "real" books read this year (manga excluded), which is not bad at all, considering that's more than I read last year combined, I think...

I'm halfway through "The Crossways" by Helen Martin. It's very interesting, and the only reason I put it down is because I had to go to bed last night. I have chores, so have not let myself touch it yet today...
I've started reading Pocahontas: True Princess by Mari Hanes. My older sister read this to me about four years ago and its been really fun to re-read.
I'm halfway through "Never" by J. Grace Pennington... a book that interesting and with my reading speed, I usually would be done with it in three days at the most. But life is busy and trying to make me fall over, so it's taken me way longer than usual.
I'm interested in studying Pocahontas sometime. I just rewatched the Disney movie, actually... which is no doubt horribly pathetic compared to history. ;)
I've been formatting a novella today and read it in the process, so I'll be able to add that once it's up.

I'm still reading Crosswind. Still. I've also started On Stories: And Other Essays on Literature. :)
Just started The Book of Human Skin. May put it on hold when the books I requested at the library come in, and come back to it after those, but not sure. It looks ... interesting. To be honest, I know nothing about it; my sister gave it to me secondhand.
I just read "Rosemary in Search of a Father" by C. N. and A. M. Williamson. It was a quick read and sweet story.
I just finished 'Among the Shadows' by L.M. Montgomery. It's a delightful little book of ghostly tales. :)
I just read "Mrs. Wiggs of the Cabbage Patch" by Alice Caldwell Hegan Rice. It was a quick read with a pleasant ending. I liked "Rosemary" best, though.
Just finished "Lovey Mary" by the same author...the sequel to "Mrs. Wiggs". Three stars. Still liking Rosemary.

She also wrote one on Pocahontas son Tomas that's really good.
Ahh, y'all have been nicely busy! I'm finishing up my last formatting project today, Lord willing, so I'm hoping to read more this week. Although I did promise a certain someone (who may or may not be reading this thread...) that I would write...
I haven't been busy at all. XD That book I just finished wasn't a very big book, and it had large-ish print. XDI do hope to finish "Never" and "Dandelion Fire" by the end of the month...
Oh, oh, oh! Write what? I should do the, dare I say it, Red Rain sequel...
*bounces excitedly at the word 'sequel'*I'm working on a...erm...*looks around*...collection of short fiction. Drabbles, poems, songs, and short stories. I kinda don't want word to get out when I self-publish it. I don't really want anyone but close friends and family members buying it, because--to put it bluntly--I'm afraid of what anyone else will think. XD
o.O Well, I'm close enough, so you'll let Aubrey see, right? If she promises not to tell? ^_^
D'awww. XD Of course, if you like. I'll pro'lly leave messages on Skype for people or what-not. :) I'm almost finished, just a few more poems to write and some editing to do. Then while my two test-readers are going through it, I'm going to be fiddling with cover design. It won't be at all as professional as your novels, though.
*grunts* We're not here to compare our stuff. I just wanna see! Yay! ^_^

Scaramouche, but I keep getting sidetracked by other books.
That does sound fun, Peter!
Ohh, William Wilberforce is someone I want to study sometime. Love the movie Amazing Grace!

Scaramouche was lots of fun, though it takes several chapters to get into the action. Pay close attention to those first chapters anyway, because they matter later on. That was a great book! I really need to read the sequel.

For shame! It's required reading for the certification to earn the title Writer. ;)
Seriously, you really have to read it. It's one of my favorite books.
