I finally got started on God's Smuggler last night. My stack of library books to be read is piling up on me. Not to mention all the books on my self and on my kindle.

I'm at 19 books and would love to read another today to make it an even 20 for the month, but I've been working nonstop on a formatting project, so that's probably not going to work out... Next week I'll be able to relax and read a bit more.

I just finished Jim Elliot and have Started My Savage Kinsmen by Elizabeth Elliot, its rely good so far.

By neglecting my other tasks, I get my count up to 11 for the month. Including The Squire's Tale, which I found an interesting take on some of the Arthurian legends and probably would have found most delightful when I was closer to its intended audience's age but now find more disjointed than I'd like, and The Practice Effect, a very interesting and funny fantasy set in a world that has just one fundamental difference from ours, summarized in the title.

It's Monday! What are y'all's plans for the week?

I didn't do much reading last week because I had a lot of work to do, so I lost my momentum. Humph. So I shall be working to regain that this week. My first order of business is reading and reviewing a friend's published book.

No, but seriously, I've been slacking off on my Celtic Mythology project for school, so my mom has told me that I'm not allowed to get anymore books from the library until I finish reading all of my Celtic Mythology books. So I guess my plans this week are to read some of those...

At the meeting of the "local" chapter of the Mythopoeic Society my family belongs to, we were lent both "the new Bujold" and "the new Jordan", along with several others (and The Casual Vacancy, which he said he doesn't care to have returned and based on the reviews I've read I will not be reading). I started reading Captain Vorpatril's Alliance Saturday evening, after finishing Perelandra (which was the meeting's designated discussion topic), and finished it Sunday afternoon. While waiting for my dad to finish A Memory of Light, I'm reading The Masques of Amen House, which was a very-late-arriving Christmas present.

@Renna: The book relating to Celtic myth that has been most influential on my own work is The Fates Of The Princes Of Dyfed, which at the time (I haven't reread it in years) I found a fascinating and engrossing retelling of that Branch of the Mabinogion.

Ahh, don't get me started on Celtic mythology! That sounds fascinating, but I really need to stick on the Revolutionary War for awhile!

You've got your work cut out for you, Jon! I haven't read any of Rowling's other work (read: Harry Potter), so her recent release doesn't interest me, either.

I ended up reading Miss Marple: The Complete Short Stories last week, since I got sick. I read it in one day. It wasn't exactly on my list, but it was easier reading and I didn't have to think as hard while sick. :p

I also remembered this week, that I've been part way through Dracula since sometime towards the end of last year... So I added that to my "currently reading" list - other than that, my reading list still hasn't changed. Mark Twain, Aubrey Hansen, and Jordan Smith... I'm enjoying all three authors. Just have to somehow find the time to finish up some reading, while trying to finish writing my book. :D

*grins and Rebekah's post* I'm glad you were able to read something fun & relaxing, and that you're also enjoying my (our!) books. :D Finding time to read while writing is difficult, and something I'll be working on all year. You might try by scheduling just a small amount of time for reading each evening, or every other one--a half-hour, or one chapter, or something. No need to take a whole evening away from writing, but just do a little. :)

Finished Red Thread Sisters (another really good book) and trying to decide between The Case Against My Brother, Grace, Gold, and Glory: My Leap of Faith or Secret Believers: What Happens When Muslims Believe in Christ to read next. Too many great library books to chose from!

What's everyone reading this weekend?

Doing good over here--I've been able to read a book every day since Wednesday (the day I told myself I'd read a book if it killed me, lol). Still reading Fullmetal Alchemist, although I also read & formatted Jordan Smith's new book... A Purple and Gold Afghan and other stories A highly recommended sweet 'n short read!

My writer's group met today, and I was very happy to report to "What have you been reading?" with this long list. *grins*

I am currently reading "West of the Tularosa" by Louis L'Amour. It is a collection of short stories. I also finished proofreading "Red Sun Blue Earth" by Sienna North. All I have to do now is remember to ask her to add it to goodreads so I can count it towards the challenge. :)

I have been not reading much for pleasure lately, though if you look at my update feed you'll discover that I've read several obscure books this weekend. Bunch of public domain, out-of-print books that I was hired to scan and process for re-printing. Hey, it's reading! (And the one about composers was especially interesting.)

If you can stand reading from a screen rather than a hard-copy "dead-tree" book, both of those should be in Project Gutenberg ... after looking, the Machiavelli is (link), as is the second of Locke's Two Treatises (link), but not the First Treatise.

I finished reading The Masques of Amen House today, and raced through a book of Kinkade paintings included in the eclectic collection of books my uncle gave us for Christmas (mostly duplicates from his collection, I expect); I'll start on A Memory of Light later this evening or tomorrow, but as it's almost a thousand pages it may take a while.

This past week I finished The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie and Rifles For Watie. Next up is The Soldier's Cross—I'm planning on taking my Kindle to the dentist's office and either starting that or reading some more of Shakespeare's sonnets in the waiting room!
