*pops in momentarily* Well, I just finished Personality Plus (that book is AMAZING!!!) and I am loving "Rilla of Ingleside" and "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader" all over again as well as steaming along like a miniature tug through "Little Dorrit". I enjoy it best when I read more than one book at a time so I think World War 1, fantasy, and Victorian is a capital variety. ^_^ *vanishes again with a flash of vivid blue light*

That is a wonderful thing to do. I hope you both enjoy it. You could also consider making recordings that he could listen to anytime. That'd be fun. :D (I actually have that book; picked it up at a library book sale because the cover was stunning and the author name was vaguely familiar. Let me know how it is!)

Batson's "The Door Within" trilogy is pretty good. Not the most impressive writing style ever, but the stories are great.

Batson's books are ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. I love them; he's probably my favorite author, as well as Solomon's (Solomon is my friend).

And yes, I hope to add a few books to my shelf this month. I'll never catch up though. :P

*is enjoying reading the short story collection she's formatting, and also has the latest volume of a manga on her Kindle* The Viz media app for digital manga is cool, from what I've explored so far. You can sample the first chapters of most of their mangas for free, so it's a good way to browse. Plus, Kindle Fire = pretty colors.

I just finished Miss Buncle's Book, which was delightful! I find that lately I tend to take breaks of a few days where I just don't feel like reading, and then pick up a good book and swallow it in a day or two. :)

Next on my list, I think, is Rachel Field's All This, and Heaven Too.

That's a great book. You should read "Start Here" by the Harris brothers too. It's a really quick read and it's a great book

I just finished "Merlin's Blade" by Robert Treskillard (Not sure how to spell it.) and loved it. It was the most grounded and enthralling fantasy novel I'd read in a long time.

I don't usually like fantasy books because of the magic in them. And I never know what authors I can trust to be Godly about what magic is in them. So, I stick with C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, and HW authors who write fantasy. :D

Read any Stephen Lawhead? He's usually more sci-fi than fantasy but he writes good books with wonderfully subtle Christian undertones. (I was brought up reading this stuff.) I particularly like Empyrion, which is two books. They're sci-fi, I guess, so it's a bit different. But he's written some Arthurian stuff that could be called fantasy.

Also, hi, I'm back! After a super long absence because Goodreads made me feel guilty that I wasn't reading anything! I'm currently rereading The Fellowship of the Ring for the first time in eight years, and rereading the books I'm taking an exam on this Friday (Brighton Rock and A Clockwork Orange).

Be careful. Stephen Lawhead has written some great stuff, such as "The Hall of the Dragon King" series. But I wouldn't suggest reading the Song of Albion series. I bought it about a month ago and there was a lot of bad language.

I just finished up All This, and Heaven Too, a fine historical novel. Oh, and I forgot—I read Supervillain of the Day last week! Next I'm going to sample a new—well, technically old, but new-to-me—Western author, Eugene Manlove Rhodes, whose books I've been wanting to try for a while; I've got his Copper Streak Trail on my Kindle. Also going to read A Guide to Elegance, a little book on how to dress well by a French fashion expert of years ago.

I'm torn between wanting Merlin's Blade, and desperately avoiding it. Because I'm exceedingly picky about my Arthurian adaptions, and I'm afraid Treskillard's interpretation isn't going to be to my liking, and I'd rather remain ignorant if that's the case... o.O

Hi, everyone...I've been dealing with some internet issues and have had very little time while in Texas to access internet. But I got to go to Half Price Books and hit a motherload! I had a 15% off coupon and still spent about $150 for an entire box of books. I can hardly wait to read them! (Most of them were hardbacks for $5 and $7.50) Some of them I've been looking for for years, and some are authors I've discovered more recently, like B.M.Bower, whose writing was recommended to me by Elisabeth Foley.
I have Katie's book on my list for reading next. :) There are five or six books that I did get read which I need to add on here, so I'm still okay on my yearly goal, though I'm behind where I wanted to be.
