For our challenge books have to be read within an year, so for the last one they had to be read at any time from January 1st to December 31st 2012. Same goes with the new one - for an example, I have just read The Great Gatsby on 4th, and that number (and book) is visible by my name in the challenge.
But beside the date, it is important that after reading the book you also mark it with the particular tag/shelf. For an example, my shelf for our challenge is "adapted-to-screen", valid for any year (I have also B2M Club tag, but it is only for our B2M reads).

Yes, of course, any book adapted to film is valid. Obviously I misunderstood the question, thanks for jumping in :)

Where do I find the B2M challenge for 2013? Do I sign up for it? Or do I just add read "adapted to screen" books onto the correct shelf? And where is the shelf? Sorry if these are stupid questions...newbie :)

It's all right, ask freely what you wish to know! This feature on the site isn't very well developed anyway, so even if you do everything right, it might not work properly :/
Challenge is right on our homepage - just scroll down a bit - it is a box below our currently reading books. There you'll see an option to write down the targeted number of books and the shelf name with which you would tag those books after reading.
Shelves/tags for the books are being chosen in the review section of the books after you read them. These you invent yourself as they suit you :) I pick many tags for my books, for an example I have given to The Great Gatsby following tags: "adapted-to-screen", "b2m-club" and "classics".

(Zeljka I'm always afraid to mess around with challenges and threads on here too much b/c I might accidentally "moderate" something I don't mean to!) lol
Now, as I add books to this shelf this year as I read them, will the automatically update on my challenge, or do I have to update that for myself manually?

Yes, I think it would warn you that shelf does not exist if you do not create it first.
That can be done (speaking to everyone now) by going to your my books section and clicking on edit bookshelves on your top left, after which you have to scroll down to the box add a shelf. If you have shelf, carefully copy the name of it in this challenge box. GoodReads doesn't recognize blank spaces, there have to be "-" marks between words.

Haha don't worry, this works just the same as that big sky blue GoodReads reading challenge box, it updates itself automatically. It might though require from you to refresh page ;)

I think however, that some members may have read some books required for this challenge, but haven't made proper shelf to be noted in the challenge, so their list is empty. Let me know if you recognize yourselves there, I'll gladly correct these statistics according to your score :) Also, if I have rushed things a bit, meaning you haven't yet added all the books read in the last month, tell me. This thread won't go anywhere ;)
Number of the participants (with at least one book read): 25
Overall number of the books planned to be read: 245
Overall number of the books read: 290 (18% more than planned!)
Number of completed challenges: 10
Average number of the books planned to be read 2012: 10
Average number of the books really read 2012: 11
Highest number of the books read: Shawna and Jonathan
Highest achievement (regarding the commitment): Shawna (from 20 to 100!) and Jonathan (from 10 to 34)
Goal (number of the books) most members sought: 10
Goal (number of the books) that seems the most achievable: 3
Congratulations to all who have managed to complete the challenge, and thanks to all who have read at least one book made into movies this year. Reading books is itself an activity worth merit, so even if you hadn't time for this particular challenge, never mind! As for myself, I didn't complete the challenge - was one book short of 35 :(
Feel free to add your insights and comments on this trivia :) and of course, you're welcome to commit yourselves to the B2M challenge of this new year 2013!
