Finished the first half (to page 195). Ready whenever you are. :)

Dawn (baseballblondie) | 1166 comments I'm not quite at the halfway point, but we can start discussing. Goodness girlfriend. You read FAST! And I thought I was a fast reader. ;)

Anyway, about the book.

I feel bad for Esther feeling that she has to put her healing ways behind her because of an incident that happened at home. As far as Griff and Zach. I like them both. But I think that Esther and Griff would be a better match. But I don't know. we'll have to see how it plays out. I'm also wanting to know who stabbed Griff.

LOL! Thanks. :)

I feel bad for Esther too and I'm wondering what exactly had happened. It seems to not be talked about much yet.

I have no idea who Esther is going to end up with (if anyone). I go back and forth between liking Zach and then not liking him. Griff seems like a great guy, but I'm not sure about him either. ;)

Yeah, I'm wondering who stabbed him, too. I've been thinking about it and my guess is Hannah.

I like how Esther is teaching Zach how to read, so he can read the Bible and how Griff is teaching Esther to play that instrument.

When you get to that last scene, let me just say, I'm back to not liking Zach. ;) LOL!

Is it just me or are things a little confusing at times? Maybe it's because I haven't read book one yet...

Dawn (baseballblondie) | 1166 comments Zach is horrible to totally disrespect Esther's wishes like that! More points in Griff's favor.

Book one was good. It deals with Tabitha and Dominic (Esther's parents). ANd truly you don't really need to read book one before this one.

What I'm finding confusing is that the family relationships are so mixed up.

They are mixed up.

I'm wondering who the father of Bethann's baby is... hopefully not Henry!

Dawn (baseballblondie) | 1166 comments I'm wondering that too. I'm sure we'll find out.

I'm sure we will, too. Ready to read the next half?

Dawn (baseballblondie) | 1166 comments Yup. I'm ready. Especially since we have to have it completely finished by Saturday. LOL.

Dawn (baseballblondie) | 1166 comments What do you think about Esther? She's the spoiled only daughter of an Englishman. She even admits at one point that her father, brothers, uncles, and cousins have all spoiled her. Do you think that because she was spoiled that she looks down on "common" folk like Griff and Zach?

Melanie (lovebeingvegan) | 9915 comments Mod
I like Esther. I might have gotten the feeling that she looks down on "common" folk a little - like when she talks sometimes... as Griff put it "her royal highness is back".

message 12: by Dawn (new) - rated it 4 stars

Dawn (baseballblondie) | 1166 comments Oh I like her. And Griff has grown totally on me. Esther's so much like her mother though. In Lady in the Mist, Tabitha was much the same way. :)

Melanie (lovebeingvegan) | 9915 comments Mod
:) Yeah, Griff grew on me too.

Just wanted to let you know I finished. Look forward to talking about it with you. :)

message 14: by Dawn (new) - rated it 4 stars

Dawn (baseballblondie) | 1166 comments I was determined to finish it last night, but got to page 302 and fell asleep. LOL.

I think Esther was wrong to deny her calling as a healer. God is obviously finding ways to ensure she uses it. I loved it when Griff went into town and talked with the doctor. Good! Her family will soon know where she's at.

I'm not entirely sure why Bethann tried to kill herself. I think too, that we are going to get Esther's story.

I loved when Griff talked to the doctor, too. :)

message 16: by Dawn (new) - rated it 4 stars

Dawn (baseballblondie) | 1166 comments So Hannah was the one who stabbed both Zach and Griff. I never saw that one coming. And poor Bethann. And poor Griff's family to lose her like that. And finally Esther realizes that she is worthy of Griff's love. I loved Griff.

I'd like to see Zach find happiness as well. Do you think he left the mountain once Griff and Esther married?

message 17: by Melanie, ✞Moderator, Avid Reader, & Blogger ✞ (new) - rated it 4 stars

Melanie (lovebeingvegan) | 9915 comments Mod
I loved Griff too. I had guessed it was Hannah, so I wasn't really surprised when it became known she was the one who stabbed them.

I don't think he left the mountain, but who knows... maybe Zach will be in one of Laurie's future books.

It was so sad how Bethann died. After she survived from the overdose, I was shocked when she died later. :( I was also surprised she had lied about Henry.

I loved the ending! How it jumps ahead in time and Esther is giving birth... So sweet how she wanted Griff in the room.

message 18: by Dawn (new) - rated it 4 stars

Dawn (baseballblondie) | 1166 comments I know I loved that too! And that unlike her mother and Phoebe, she didn't have to wait for her daughter.

Do you think that once she and Griff married that she continued to teach the children or they hired someone else to do that? I'm thinking that someone else was hired to do it as Esther would be busy being a healer.

Melanie (lovebeingvegan) | 9915 comments Mod
I tend to think she continued teaching... but you might be right and they hired someone else to do it.

I can't think of anything else to discuss... can you?

message 20: by Dawn (new) - rated it 4 stars

Dawn (baseballblondie) | 1166 comments Not really. Not unless you want to talk about the other books in the series.
