Just Created My Own Book Preview Video! But—is it only useful if it's done by a professional?

I just self-published my first book last fall, DADspirations: The 1st 100 Days of Fatherhood, and was told by several people to have a Book Preview Video made. I couldn't afford the +$1,000s that people were charging so I made my own (http://youtu.be/CtIUWO27C0M). While it won't win any Oscar awards, it seems like a really, really solid Book Preview Video could help give that extra nudge to someone who is more visual (or young, LOL). What are your experiences/impact you've had with trailers?

First, I thought it was a unique trailer, and I mean that in a good way. It left me smiling.Second, I've done three book trailers. I know at least a few books have sold because of them, but not a lot. You need to find a way for your trailer to be seen by many. Wish I had a surefire way to do that, but I don't. If you find a way to make it go viral, let the rest of us know. :)
Good luck with the book!

Most of us can't afford the professional idea.....and I doubt it would ever pay for itself. In a few weeks I plan to make my own, featuring a cool suit, some blues guitar from me and all 3 "Blues Detective" books. I confidently expect it to make no difference at all to sales......but I might have fun!
I was lucky with my book trailer for The Seventh Magpie. My friend's son is studying motion graphics at art school and created this for me to add to his portfolio.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MzW1ki...
The impact it has had on sales is questionable even though it has received over 1000 views.
