I'm looking forward to reading this one too. I have a couple to finish before that, but it shouldn't be too long now.

Treasure!! (I can't think of another word to describe it, so may stick with that one for a while..:)..)
Still loving Pure. been super busy so only just getting to halfway in it, but what a wonderful story so far.
Anybody else started Pure yet?
I haven't had much of a chance to read the last few nights. Got a couple more pages read of Pure last night and still love it. Can't wwait to get more of it read today.
It is a quick read. I have a bit of trouble reading it fast (believe this or not) because I have the large text edition out from the library (it was all they had there at the time).Such big words. Such big letters. My eye won't zip along them quickly. Frustrating.
You would think it would be the opposite. But my brain is odd in its ways. ;D
I have always liked the blue version of the Pure cover.
often wondered why there would be so many covers in green
Turns out there is a reason in the book why the guy should be in green. I now have no idea why some brainiac would think to make it blue. The green is an important detail in the book.
I have the blue cover too. I love large print books and they are often in the library when all the regular print versions are out. I get them all the time and I swear I read those ones faster. Or it just feels like it because I turn the pages so fast. :)
Portia wrote: "Pure is in one of my stacks. From what everyone is saying, I am going to dig it out."no pun intended? ;)
I might have to explain that. Pure is about digging up a cemetery. You said in reference to the book "From what everyone is saying, I am going to dig it out".
You said an accidental pun, and never realised. ;D
You're right, Terri. I hope I didn't annoy anyone. I know some folks who moan loudly at puns. I'm not great at puns so thus was an accident :(

I am still waiting for God of War from my library... I so impatient, I want to start reading it now.
Terri wrote: "You probably need to start reading it now if you want to finish it before Xmas. ;)"Yes, well, the library better get it to me soon then. :P
I just downloaded the audiobook version of Pure onto my ipod. I won't get to it this month, but hopefully I can listen to it in early December. I was actually surprised that my digital library had a copy. It isn't the best where HF is concerned.I also plan to read both Lionheart and Stonehenge.
I am heartbroken because my library couldn't get God of War through their ILL. In the meantime, I think I'll read Stonehenge with everyone else as I decide whether to shell out the $10 for the ebook. Now, I'm off back to work and grieve, why is it that my library can't get most of the Alexander books out there?
Alicja wrote: "I am heartbroken because my library couldn't get God of War through their ILL. In the meantime, I think I'll read Stonehenge with everyone else as I decide whether to shell out the $10 for the eboo..."Stonehenge is a good book though, so hopefully it will ease the sting.
Darcy wrote: "Perhaps a used book shop in your area has it?"I don't think I have any used bookstores in my area but even amazon.com has it used for over $10. I think 2012 just may be too new.
I'll also maybe try Lionheart. I would just feel guilty reading a Bernard Cornwell book that is not the next in either of the two series I've started.
That's too bad about the used book's price. The good news is that Stonehenge is a stand alone, so it's not like you're cheating on the others with a long term investment ;)

I don't know... Derfel and Uhtred are very scary to cross, wouldn't want to displease them. :P
Darcy wrote: "Good news is that the characters in Stonehenge are long dead by the time those two get around"Good point!
But now thinking about that... I would love to see a Derfel vs. Uhtred fight! One on one, sword and shield only.

Just a guess: dependent on which edition and copyright it is??? My copy has the guy dressed in blue.
Turns out there is a reason i..."

I'm listening to 1356 now. Thomas of Hookton is a tough dude, but my money would be on Uhtred in a fight.

With clothing optional...
So maybe all the US covers are blue?? Does anybody in the US have the green cover??The guy should not be in blue. I would call that a cover error.
I'll say why. It isn't actually a spoiler, just a detail in the book. I'll spoiler it just in case people don't want this detail.
(view spoiler)
So your cover has the guy wearing green pants on that cover?According to the book details, that's what he should be wearing. :)

Like Erik Satie, the eccentric French composer of the early 20th century--he wore nothing but green velvet suits, Terri. :)
My cover has the blue suit.
Terri wrote: "lol. Another useless, but interesting, fact. I like it! :)"I've got tons of 'em but won't trot 'em out unless I think they're a propos! :)
Daniel wrote: "so far, pure has yet to jump out at me...I have not given up on it yet though."I was just talking about this to Mixal in the random thread.
There is definitely no action, edge of the seat mystery or high drama in it. It is a simmering kind of story I guess you could say.
As I was reading it I did actually think that some members aren't going to gel with the story. I can see why too.
It isn't that people such as yourself, Daniel, can't appreciate simmering stories, (I know you can), it is more that the story has an underlying feel that some people will get into and some won't.
Much like The Name of the Rose I suppose you could say. No doubt it is written well, but each person is going to have a different response to it.

Well said. I am not giving up on it.
Note, I loved The Name Of The Rose :P

I think it has a good deal with what mood you're in when you read it. Some times I crave action/adventure, other times not; same with more thoughtful book, with satire, with melodrama, etc.
With Pure and me, it is the kind of book I will enjoy in any mood. I find it quirky and clever. I will always get into quirky and clever when they work together like they do in Pure. :)
