I applied to become a librarian a few days ago but I've still not had any reply. Is this normal or is it just taking longer because of the time of year?

Based on my own personal experience I would say its the time of year.
What with all the New Years, weekends, Christmases, parties, shopping, etc...And you only get a reply if you are accepted.
