Dawn (dawnv) | 4058 comments It has been bitter cold and like today it is 77 ...wacky weather!

LastBreath (last_breath) | 242 comments For the past 36hrs we've been on Cyclone Lucy watch.
Thanks to the nature of my profession, our team has been charged with the general safety of the CBD area. Now, I had been geared up for some pretty awesome weather, but all its been thus far is rain. I suppose we should be thankful that this is all that has occured. According to our Met Service the wind speed is yet to pick up - that's when all the 'fun' should start.

Sounds like an interesting job to do and I can't even imagine all that it entails. I second Sandra's hope that everything is okay with you. We get a lot of hurricanes in Florida and they can be devastating as well as deadly.

Ryan Hello is anybody around?

message 56: by Lisarenee (new)

Lisarenee | 2046 comments I was reading, but I am now.

message 57: by Ryan (new)

Ryan Its nice to meet you. What book are you reading ?

message 58: by Lisarenee (last edited Jun 29, 2014 01:52PM) (new)

Lisarenee | 2046 comments Hi Ryan. I'm reading the ARC of The Beautiful Ashes.

message 59: by Ryan (new)

Ryan What is it about?

message 60: by Lisarenee (new)

Lisarenee | 2046 comments It's by Jeaniene Frost. It's about a girl named Ivy whose sister has disappeared and when her parents went to investigate and try to find her they died in an car accident. Now Ivy is picking up the search of her sister and finds things are not as they seem in the small town her sister last texted her from. Demons and gateways to other realms exist around us. Ivy is one of the few who can distinguish the reality under the glamour and she's about to learn there's more to her than she ever knew.

message 61: by Ryan (new)

Ryan That sounds like my type of book :)

message 62: by Lisarenee (new)

Lisarenee | 2046 comments It's different from her other series, but I liked it.

message 63: by Dawn, Desperately seeking new worlds (new)

Dawn (dawnv) | 4058 comments I am going sailing for a few weeks and I think it is ironic that it took about 30 minutes to pack all my clothes, toiletries and so forth. Yet I have sent about three hours if not more updating books on my e-reader, downloading audio books on my ipod and creating playlists. Funny where my priorities lie :-)

How much time do you spend organizing your reading list?

message 64: by Dawn, Desperately seeking new worlds (new)

Dawn (dawnv) | 4058 comments Lisarenee wrote: "Hi Ryan. I'm reading the ARC of The Beautiful Ashes."

Is that her new YA series??

message 65: by Lisarenee (new)

Lisarenee | 2046 comments The character is at least 18 and in college so I don't think so.

message 66: by Dawn, Desperately seeking new worlds (new)

Dawn (dawnv) | 4058 comments I came across this Readers Love Letters to Libraries and I really enjoyed it...

message 67: by Dawn, Desperately seeking new worlds (new)

Dawn (dawnv) | 4058 comments This is rather random but on Friday when the news about Skymall going out of business came I was like yeah - well what did they think would happen...I mean their business model sucked.

Then this morning as I was reading the paper I thought oh no no more wacky gadgets and I felt oddly nostalgic. While I never actually purchases anything from there I found interesting items like my pet bed that sits off the ground and and inflatable air mattresses with legs. But mostly I would just look at all the crazy stuff while I was in flight.

Just wondering does anyone else care or is it just me?

message 68: by Chele (new)

Chele | 8 comments Hi I have a question and I wasn't sure where to post it. I am wondering if there is an easy way to find the various challenges I enter. I am in several groups and it gets confusing. Sometimes I can't find my way back to them so I never get to finish them.

message 69: by Sandra, Need more time to Read!! (new)

Sandra | 4734 comments The way I keep track is to have my own Secret Group. I list all my groups and then which challenges I'm doing in which group.

I update that, then copy & paste to the relevant group thread.

I have active challenges & completed challenges & other projects I'm working on.

You can be as simple or as busy as you like, and its something that can continue to change as you think of new things.

message 70: by Sandra, Need more time to Read!! (new)

Sandra | 4734 comments You can create a group, from your profile page, my groups and there is a link on the top right hand side.

Alicia | 17 comments So I should be reading some chapters in my textbook to prepare for class tonight, but my headache that started yesterday has not subsided yet. I took Advil, placed a cool compress on my head, and slept, yet it has not dissipated yet...ugh.

The only thing that works on my headaches is Excedrin Migraine medicine - try it, it might work for you too.

Ditto!
That stuff is amazing!

message 78: by Alicia (new)

Alicia | 17 comments I will have to put some on my grocery list. I haven't bought or used them in years as my family pushed for Advil over Excedrin. Thank you for the suggestion and reminder. :)

message 88: by Jenn (new)

Jenn | 65 comments I’ve just started watching Lucifer on Netflix and totally love it! Has anyone seen it?

message 89: by Nerdy Werewolf (new)

Nerdy Werewolf (nerdywerewolf) I've seen up to the last season that aired. I thought it was silly-fun to watch. Definitely a UF show.

message 90: by Dawn, Desperately seeking new worlds (new)

Dawn (dawnv) | 4058 comments I just saw that on my recommended list. I think I will check it out!
Did anyone see Sabrina? I did not care for it, I prefer the fun light one that used to come on tv years ago

message 91: by Jenn (new)

Jenn | 65 comments I love the actor who plays Lucifer and his accent too!

I saw Sabrina and didn’t really care for it

message 92: by [deleted user] (new)

I am about 5 episodes in on Lucifer. It's ok. Entertaining for sure.

message 93: by Jenn (new)

Jenn | 65 comments Yes that it is. Lucifer cracks me up

message 94: by [deleted user] (new)

I must admit, I like it better when he's angry. The whole super ego thing gets old, but the angry and scariness is pretty great.

message 95: by Nerdy Werewolf (new)

Nerdy Werewolf (nerdywerewolf) I liked the new Sabrina....BUT I read the comic it was based on, so that influences it. It's pretty spot-on (actually a little lighter), however....I have not yet finished the Netflix series, so it must not have hooked me enough.

The new season hasn't started just yet, but this site took a look at filming dates and some other things and they think the earliest it would air would be this spring: https://www.digitalspy.com/tv/ustv/a8...

I'm excited for it, lol. :D
