I think this would be a great place for established authors to drop a few lines to aspiring authors. A few words of advice, a website that helped you out when you got started.

Apiring Authors, do you have any questions about the publishing process, about writing habits, about anything about the writing process? Ask here.

I will also answer any questions to the best of my abilities. :D

I think this is a great suggestion, Cynthia. When we indie published Revolution Earth in June 2012 I found the blog posts of fellow indie author Rachel Abbott really inspiring. Rachel has had huge success but still takes the time to update her blog with very helpful suggestions.

The second really useful website I found wasALLIa - the Alliance of Independent Authors, is a non-profit membership organisation with members throughout the world. I have had more benefit out of my ALLIa membership than I did in many years of belonging to the Writers Guild. Revolution Earth

Robert Barton | 9 comments I'm actually not published yet, but I figured I'd post a link that helped me a lot. This is the US government's page about copyright. If you're planning on selling an ebook, you usually get to choose which countries to sell to. I suggest going through the list on this webpage to find the countries that DON'T respect US copyright laws and not sell to them. Otherwise, they can plagiarize and pirate your work and there's nothing you can do about it. Here's the link below:

Barbara Morgenroth | 10 comments I had my first book published when I was 26 so I've been doing this for quite a while.

Take time to think.
Hone your skills.
Go where you have to go, don't follow the crowd even if the allure of their success is hard to resist.
