Liz (sweetlizard) | 11 comments Hi everyone! I just discovered paranormal romance and other types of romance just about a year ago. I thought that all Romance type books were all sappy and lovey dovey all the time. Man! was I wrong. Now I can't get enough. I am looking foward to some great discussions and getting new book recommendations. Even though my husband might kill me.(he-he)

Michelle | 79 comments Hi Liz,

Welcome! I just recently discovered Paranormal Romance too. Actually I JUST recently started getting addicted to reading once I discovered PNR... hehe.. I was just like you! I thought all Romance books were sappy. Boy was I wrong!!! Now I can't stop and I'm constantly at the book store! My husband thinks I'm a book worm and he doesn't know how I can sit down and read for HOURS!

If you like stories about Alpha males who meet their soulmates with action, humor, but focuses mostly on the characters... NOT to mention page turners then I definitely recommend Sherrilyn Kenyons Dark Hunter Series and Lara Adrians Midnight Breed Series...JR Wards Black Dagger Brotherhoodseries is also very good but sometimes there are too many scenes about the bad guys and less focus on the Hero/Heroine

***OK i just looked at your "read" books and realized you already read all of them... hehe***

Well, there are plenty of PNR/UF addicts in this group, so you are in good company. Trust me, you will get plenty of recommendations and your TBR list will grow exponentially.

Have fun reading!

Liz (sweetlizard) | 11 comments I have not gotten the midnight breed series, it is totally on my to get list. Thanks to everyone for all the love.

Hi Liz,

Fairly new myself to the genre, so I know what you're saying. It's so healing to immerse yourself in PNR isn't it? There's nothing I like better after a hard day than to pick up something in the genre and drift away. Welcome to the group, and the lurrve!

Jessa Slade (jessaslade) | 114 comments Hi Liz. You'll find enough books here for your hubby to swear bloody murder several times over... and it'll be totally worth it :)

Jennifer (jen421) | 201 comments Hi Liz? Have you read any Kresley Cole? If not, then I highly recommend her Immortals After Dark series.

message 8: by Liz (new)

Liz (sweetlizard) | 11 comments I have not read any of Kresley Cole. She is totally on my TBR list. I only have so much money and time, you know what I mean. I also have to admit I am kind of a book cover snob. I know I should be ashamed, but if a cover is really cartoonish, it turns me off of the book. I like more realistic book covers. I know I should not judge a book by its cover. I'm Ashamed:( (he-he)

Nichole (DirrtyH) (dirtyh) Liz-
Definitely don't judge a book by it's cover! The Kresley Cole books definitey have AWFUL covers, I agree, but they're sooooooo good.
Time I can't help you with, but Cole's books should be available at the library so you don't have to buy them. I'm a big fan of the library.

DarkHeart "Vehngeance" (darkheart) | 737 comments LOL, I have the first one and I agree - awful cover - but I have heard really good things about the series and may have to finally put in on my reading list for this month.

The Flooze (the_flooze) | 1593 comments Have to put the requisite plug in for Dark Hunter.

And I, too, cringe at many a cover. But you just can't judge by them, ESPECIALLY in this genre. I've read a lot of PNR books online and loved them, only seeing the covers when I update my Goodreads. And some of those covers would have turned me off had I seen them ahead of time. That learned me my lesson!

I love paranormal romance and have been a fan since 14 Iam 30 now

The Flooze (the_flooze) | 1593 comments Welcome, Isreal!

message 14: by Liz (new)

Liz (sweetlizard) | 11 comments I absolutely love the Dark-Hunter series. I love me some Val and Zarek. Again, thanks for all the help.

message 15: by The Flooze (new)

The Flooze (the_flooze) | 1593 comments Valerius and Zarek are my top two, woman!

::fanning self::

As my friends catch up, they send me their running list of men, but no one has usurped Zarek and Val yet for the top two slots (for us, anyway).

Going back to your "cartoonish" covers comment, I think the Undead series by Davidson is HILARIOUS. Betsy can be a little too abrasive for some people, but it's the best I've read in the lighter vein. Terri Garey's books also have cartoonish covers and cutesy titles, but I liked the first in the series enough that I've bought the rest. The creepy voodoo moments kept it from being truly "light."

And I'm always promoting the Argeneaus-Sands is great at crafting a comedic scene. I literally dropped Bite Me if You Can, I was laughing that hard. And that's saying nothing about the more intimate exchanges.

::fan reappears, moving rapidly::

Liz (sweetlizard) | 11 comments I'm trying to get past the cover thing. I guess I like seeing a hot guy that I can drool over, for example Karen Marie Monings Highlander series, those are some yummy drool worthy covers.

message 18: by The Flooze (new)

The Flooze (the_flooze) | 1593 comments Hey, Sands is funny AND often has a yummy man on the cover! And she can write a hot scene.

message 19: by Liz (new)

Liz (sweetlizard) | 11 comments Lyndsay Sands is on my TBR list. It just keeps getting longer. I'm not complaining or anything. just gotta push through.

message 20: by The Flooze (new)

The Flooze (the_flooze) | 1593 comments Oh that TBR list. The only downside to good reads is I now have too many new books to check out!
