Sonia (darktalynn) Finished Once Bitten (Alexa O’Brien, Huntress, #1) by Trina M. Lee , the ending was like wow, what will happen next?

Next I'll be reading The Shadow Reader (McKenzie Lewis, #1) by Sandy Williams and Warm Bodies (Warm Bodies, #1) by Isaac Marion , still deciding which one - got both on audio *crossing fingers to a good narrator*

message 253: by Gin (new)

Gin | 338 comments Let me know how the audio of Warm Bodies (Warm Bodies #1) by Isaac Marion turns out Sonia. I was thinking about listening to that as well.

OK, so he isn't James Masters, maybe my standards for audio are too high. Both Dresden and Daughter of Smoke and Bone's are 5 stars narrators. I tend to be, you now, spoiled :o)

I had worse, but I also had better.

Not sure what I'll start next. I loved the curse in The Chieftan.

I did and really liked it but it took several chapters before I got hooked in.

Alisa This is a little late in the day but don't forget our buddy read of Unholy Ghosts (Downside Ghosts, #1) by Stacia Kane starts today, Feb 10. Even if you haven't signed up you can still joim us.

message 260: by Alisa (last edited Feb 10, 2013 01:05AM) (new)

Alisa Busy week. I re-read Dark Lover (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #1) by J.R. Ward Lover Eternal (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #2) by J.R. Ward Lover Awakened (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #3) by J.R. Ward this week. All for one of our clubs series challenges. All three I loved as much as I did the first time I read them.

I re-read Once Bitten (Alexa O’Brien, Huntress, #1) by Trina M. Lee for a buddy read. Enjoyed it.

Also read two new books Omega (Penton Legacy, #3) by Susannah Sandlin which I liked and

Undeniable (Undeniable, #1) by Madeline Sheehan which was the WORST BOOK EVER!!! Their "relationship" begins when she's 5 years old & he's 23. If that's not creepy enough for you there is also adultry, rape, & domestic violence. ALL the women in the book are called "whore, slut, bitch" rather than by their names. (& that's often in front of their children)

message 261: by Sandra, Need more time to Read!! (new)

Sandra | 4734 comments Alisa, why did you keep reading? Sounds dreadful!

message 262: by Alisa (new)

Alisa I skimmed the last half. It has TONS of 5 star reviews & I kept thinking "ok something bigs gonna happen & change. There has to be a reason people love this book". It was also short. In hindsight I should've tossed it. It left a smudge on my brain.

Love abs that one has

I am actively reading Touch of the Demon (Kara Gillian, #5) by Diana Rowland I must admit it is rather boring, but I am pressing on to finish.

message 270: by Sandra, Need more time to Read!! (new)

Sandra | 4734 comments I enjoyed Touch, but I've seen lots of reviews from people who were bored. I just found the demon world fascinating. And I wasn't surprised by what happens. LOL.

message 271: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) I don't now how I did it, but I have 6, YES SIX, books open... and will probably add one more on the 15th due to a buddy read. I am not a speed reader and I like to read a book at the time, two tops!

Anyway, the books I'm currently reading (or at least trying to read) are

The Restorer (Graveyard Queen, #1) by Amanda Stevens and Touch the Dark (Cassandra Palmer, #1) by Karen Chance currently buddy reads, just a few chapters in, but liking them so far.
A Tale of Two Vampires (Dark Ones, #10) by Katie MacAlister this poor baby is on hold for so long that is a shame, must take care of it soon
Shadowfever (Fever, #5) by Karen Marie Moning - at chapter 3 and making a HUGE tantrum, I refuse to continue with it till the author re-write the event on the beginning - I'm still crying over it and enter on sulking mode every time I think about it.
Eighty Days Yellow (Eighty Days, #1) by Vina Jackson - at page 25 and on hold
Warm Bodies by Isaac Marion - currently torn between giving up or finish it just for morbid curiosity - seriously? Zombies are not my thing, a zombie with introspects and deep thoughts is something that I can't wrap my mind around it and the concept of a zombie start having feelings and whatnot is as ridiculous as fangless sparkling vampire.

On the 15 I'll be adding Dark Lover (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #1) by J.R. Ward to the group. I'm quite excited to finally read this one, it is on my TBR for AGES!!!

I'm right there with you Sonia! I'm currently reading
A Game of Thrones (A Song of Ice and Fire, #1) by George R.R. Martin which I am loving!!
Iced (Fever, #6; Dani O'Malley, #1) by Karen Marie Moning I'm still having a hard time with the whole 14 year old and sexual tension thing, so I don't know how I feel about this one.
A Local Habitation (October Daye, #2) by Seanan McGuire I think i'm going to love this series

Yes, I saw that on Amanda Stevens' website. I hope they do a good job of adapting it and maintain the subtlety of the supernatural elements, which can be hard to do in a visual medium.

Wait, Dani is only 14? I thought she would be older than that by the book synopsis. Oh no, that means I really have to continue with Shadowfever (Fever, #5) by Karen Marie Moning .
*hurts all over again*
*sigh*

Btw, finished The Restorer (Graveyard Queen, #1) by Amanda Stevens and would start The Kingdom (Graveyard Queen, #2) by Amanda Stevens immediatly but Dark Lover (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #1) by J.R. Ward saved me. Ghost had no chance against Vampire Warriors, although Devlin was pretty hot :o)

I had a hard time with that too. My daughter is a year older and two older men, one much older, lusting after her is kind of creepy. I hope Moning ages her in the next book.

Sonia (darktalynn) Lisarenee wrote: "You may be sucked into the BDB series. They are addictive."
Yeah, I notice that when I went to bed after chapter 3 and brain refused to let go of the book, making me dreaming about it all night. And with my bad mood because I can't read it while I'm at work.

I have all 10, plus the short-stories ready to go, just in case.

The first book doesn't cross any lines but you know there's a possibility. The guys are all like "when she comes of age she's going to be something." It makes me apprehensive, however, about the upcoming books. I wouldn't label it as YA. Maybe New Adult?

message 293: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) She's too young to New Adult. As I said, I'm only 3 chapters in Shadowfever, so I have no idea the transition between the 2, but KM could made her arount 16 or so... still pretty young but just not that shocking.

I realize the age, but I was under the impression some of the younger aged stories if they seem more mature would be regulated to New Adult. I may be wrong in that assumption.

message 295: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) It makes sense. Having Percy Jackson, Pretty Little Liars, Beautiful Disaster, Harry Potter, Mortal Instruments and so on in the same boat doesn't make much sense to me.

message 296: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) And I was assuming that Iced was an adult book, not YA.

message 297: by Alisa (new)

Alisa I haven't read any of KM's book yet so I don't know the plot you guys are talking about but I have to say that I don't think men talking about a 14 year old, even if it's "when she comes of age" is ok. It's creepy, creepy, creepy to me.
