It was, I think. Still it bothers me a bit (view spoiler)[ ditzy, scattered, and borderline TSTL isn't my favorite, even if she is an artist who is supposed to be distracted by her art (hide spoiler)].

I just finished
which I highly enjoyed but feels like it may be the last in the series...does anyone know??I also finished
which was one of those books on my kindle that I do not recall buying so it was an awesome surprise. I will also say that while there are lots of sexy bits the story really held up well .

Also how was Hell Bent? You know I could never get into Magic to the Bone ...I want to like it and then I get about 100 pages in and start looking for something else to read. So I wonder is the writing similar??

Yes do tell I saw that one as well and put it on hold
Alisa wrote: "Dying is my business sounds really good. Let me know what you think. I've never heard anything about it."Sadly this ended up in my dnf pile. I felt like the story was fairly boring. I almost quit around chapter 5, but kept reading, although I did switch to a different book. Today I went to pick it back up and realized that I just didn't care, not a good thing when you are 200 pages in.
I would still give it a try, maybe go the library route though.
I highly recommend
- a very underrated series.
- I loved the book. Some say you can enjoy it without reading the Allie Beckstrom series but I think to have a better understanding of the characters you need to read the Allie books first. The first two books of the Allie series were okay for me but the third book is where it became a mandatory read. The supporting cast expanded at that point and it's also the beginning of Shame and Terric's story. If you want to read Hell Bent without reading the Allie books I would gladly answer any questions.
I just finished
and of course loved it as I have the rest of the series. Now I'm giving
a try because my best friend gave it to me and really wants me to read it so we'll see.

I may try the other series and perhaps if I skim a bit it may pick up.
Ugh. I finished
and have no idea what to read now. I have read the first chapter of so many books that don't seem to grab me. I am contemplating
but am resisting because I have read that there are poorly handled rape references. I feel as though I am banging my head against a brick wall. Of course, reading withdrawal will do that to you.
I also feel bad because I am WAY behind on reviews . . .
Finished
- superheroes and zombies - what's not to love? I have finished my Goodreads 2013 Reading Challenge - 200 books pledged and read.
Finished and really enjoyed the humour in
ordered the next one in the series ;)Started
and liking it, but it does sound familiar, aka BDB, Midnight Breed, Demonica etc etc.
@Sandra....I have enjoyed the Sentinel Wars books that I've read but be prepared for the heroine in book one to be one of those TSTL heroines. The future story girls are better.

I'm sure I will Dawn ;)Alisa, yep I'd agree, TSTL is a good description of her, with a side of Miss Goody2shoes.
Sara wrote: "Finished

Sandra & Dawn,Thanks!
Mike,
I went back and forth on Ex-Heroes too but I really enjoyed it - I started the next book in the series as soon as I finished Ex-Heroes. I understand the zombie burnout but it was fun seeing how superheroes would react in a zombie apocalypse. Of course, the heroes in this universe are powered down - there is no Superman, Green Lantern, Doctor Strange, or Mister Fantastic to solve the problem in two minutes.
Hypocrites In His Midst: A Story About Flawed Human Beings by Donnell Wilson – Book Review4.5 out of 5 stars
The long road from street gangs to success…
Wilton Latso is seventy two years old and a grandfather. In the middle of a heated argument with his adult daughter Abbie, Wilton realizes that she has no idea of who he is, where he came from, and why he did the things he did when he was bringing her up. Spontaneously Wilton starts remembering and soon he decides to write down the story of his life. Wilton came from a poor family living in a poor suburb of St. Louis, Missouri in the late 1940’s / early 1950s. In this era of street gangs Wilton is soon introduced to a world of violence, ego and selfishness. Wilton’s parents are staunch Pentecostal Christians, but Wilton doubts that faith from the start. The trouble is that he can see all too clearly his parent’s hypocrisy, particularly his mother’s. Throughout his life Wilton will continue to observe people, noting many to be hollow, offering friendship, espousing beliefs but proving to be fakes.
Donnell Wilson’s Hypocrites In His Midst: A Story About Flawed Human Beings is a fictional autobiography spanning seven decades. It is a story of “redemption” (Ch. 8) in a secular sense. This is a book about trying to “do the right thing” (Ch. 3), though the “right thing” (Ch. 2) is not always obvious or easy to achieve. Wilson’s novel, especially in the first three Parts, is broadly comparable to Nicky Cruz’s real life autobiography Run Baby Run (Logos, 1972), though that book is firmly Christian, while this book is firmly agnostic (Ch. 31). Most of all, this book is about how a person can growing to maturity (or avoid it).

I enjoyed Spider's Bite. I liked that it was a little grittier then most UF. I am enjoying Wheton's reading. I have listened to another book that he read before so was excited to listen to another.

I just finished Unholy Ghosts. I'm not sure how I felt about it. I am about to start Cold Blooded.
Hope it lives up to the hype I've heard Karena :)Unholy Ghosts is a strange one, I loved the world building but hated Chess and the drug taking. Terrible is fabulous, more so in #2. But I just couldn't keep reading the series, even though I've got friends who absolutely love it.

Are these re-reads for you or your first time reading them?
I'm looking forward
which comes out next week I think.
I just finished
which I enjoyed. Probably the best in the series besides Raphael.I also finished
which was really good. I love this author. This book is part of a series (he mostly just does stand alones). It's a mystery/who done it type series. This one focuses on LA cops and DEA and the complex relationship between us and Mexico in relation to the drug cartels and guns sales. BUT he adds a bit of the paranormal w/a character who is a lower level demon and causing havoc throughout. I've never read a series that is mostly murder suspense but with the paranormal thrown in just a bit the way this author does. I highly recommend this series (& really anything this author does) but it must be read in order.

I will admit I like Ethan better in this book he is finally getting his emotions together. I still dislike the best friend Mallory ugg. But anyway I find I care less and less about what happens next...starting to wonder if I am breaking up with series??

That series is a total guilty pleasure for me. You know exactly what you're going to get each book. Lot's of yummy Me-Tarzan, you-Jane, alpha nonsense & lot's of hot, hot sex scenes. They're like cupcakes. You can't eat them all the time but gosh when you're in the mood for one nothing else will do. :)

Alisa, they are first time reads for me. I like to space them out cause they are so similar to Lora Leigh's Breed series, which I'm up-to-date with ;)

Craved was different, seemed to be the usual type of pnr then wham, turned nasty. I gave it 3 stars and I'm a generous rater. Not to say it was bad just not my usual sort of thing. So understand Dawn :0
