I also finished Archangel's Legion which was good - different than what I expected though.

I really liked Doctor Sleep. I felt that it was a very good and very realistic story. There were a lot of parallels with the Shining that made perfect sense to me. I have seen a lot of negative reviews from people ,even those claiming to be part of the Constant Reader club, but I disagree with them. Was it as good as The Shining? In it's way yes, but it really can't compete with a book that has been people's favorite for so many years. King even admits this himself.

Good to know. It has been forever since I read the Shining. Maybe I should do a reread :-)

I'm just past the half way mark - I'm buddy reading with a friend and became a little excited and shot through the first half of the book, that's how much I was enjoying myself. Lol

message 1311: by Alisa (last edited Nov 13, 2013 09:19AM) (new)

Alisa I finished Eternal Sin (Mark of the Vampire, #6) by Laura Wright Love this author, love this series. This lived up to my expectations.

Also read Four Seconds to Lose (Ten Tiny Breaths, #3) by K.A. Tucker which sadly did not live up to my expectations. The first half was good. The last half made me want to throat punch the author. Hard. Repeatedly.

Now reading Wake Me Up Inside (Mates, #1) by Cardeno C. which is a shifter book where the alpha is gay and looking for his mate. I'm not far enough along in it to have an opinion but there is a cute scene at the begining where his 80 something year old grandma is drilling him about various pack women's body parts and why they're not good enough. He's lamenting having to have a "T & A" discussion w/his grandmother and then trying to explain that "any" girl bits are just not going to work. It's pretty funny. :)

I'm really curious to hear what you think. Let me know when you're done. The first half is good and we get Cain's background (which is even worse than you think). That part is all really good. We also get Nate's background & there are scenes w/Storm, Ben, Trent & Casey, etc which I really liked. I can't say what things made me unhappy cuz of the spoilers.

I will, probably won't get to it this week as I have some from the library that I have to listen to first and I got this one from Audible.

Dawn (dawnv) | 4058 comments Just finished Nightshifted (Edie Spence, #1) by Cassie Alexander the book has lots of potential but it managed to fall fairly flat in a few areas and our heroine is quite frequently TSTL. At any rate there is enough there which makes me curious about the next book so I will check it out eventually.

Next up for me is Styxx (Dark-Hunter, #24) by Sherrilyn Kenyon Biting Bad (Chicagoland Vampires, #8) by Chloe Neill Magic and Loss (Golgotham #3) by Nancy A. Collins

It was just so many odd things like why change your entire life and never share it with your brother...or what is up with the shifters?? Do they all choose their shape or just some..then dragons??

Robb so I had my wife tell me about it (she's read it three times) and then I switched to Promises in Death (In Death, #28) by J.D. Robb . I enjoy that reader a lot more. I also started Spider's Bite (Elemental Assassin, #1) by Jennifer Estep like Seanan McGuire I find myself asking "why didn't I read this a long time ago?"

I just finished this one today. I liked it, Cain's past was about what I expected. I liked Charlie, hated what she was going through. I liked the ending, it gave me hope that they can leave the past in the past.

I'm glad you enjoyed it. She was way too young for me & I couldn't buy into why he cared about her so much. All he did was watch her dance a few times and then bam (view spoiler) I needed way more details on how we got from point a to point z. I'll probably read Ben's book though.

I really like this series. It's seems like it will be a light read in book one but it gets more serious in the next few books. I was a little emotional over a particular episode/plot line. It's one of those under rated series IMO

I agree with what you are saying, especially about the age, but it didn't seem to bother me because she didn't act her age. I also think that Cain could use some fun in his life considering how he has lived his life so far. As to the spoiler, yes, but I was ok with that, mostly because of who it was and really, they needed to go that way.

I thought it was more of not wanting to acknowledge what was going on and who was behind it, because if it was that person, it hurt too much.
