Sandra | 4734 comments Just finished Phoenix Rising (Ministry of Peculiar Occurrences #1) by Philippa Ballantine and whilst it was good, chuckling rather than LOL, and I enjoyed it; not sure if I'll continue with the series. Steampunk can be rather hit or miss for me.

Alisa I'm currently reading Chased by Moonlight (Moonlight, #2) by Nancy Gideon and Cut & Run (Cut & Run #1) by Abigail Roux both of which are new to me series that I'm loving. I love finding new series despite that I have like 20 I still need to read. :)

Listening to Heat of the Night (Dream Guardians, #2) by Sylvia Day on audio.

♥ Ashleigh ♥ Contrary to popular belief I'm not actually mad! (cheshire_red) started Horns by Joe Hill it has a really interesting concept that I was into but otherwise the book was just meh. I didn't particular feel like reading the rest of the book so I put it down.
now reading The Indigo Spell (Bloodlines, #3) by Richelle Mead which is much better!!

That's too bad. I like everything Joe Hill has done except for some of his short stories.

I liked it, mostly because there wasn't the fighting of the mating. Not sure what I think of the larger conspiracy.

How is Perdition compared to her other books? Same with Holly Black's new one.

Perdition was good, set in the same world as her Sirantha Jax series, even has a character from that series that shows up in this one.

The Coldest Girl in Coldtown ended up dnf for me. I find Black to be hit or miss for me, this one was a miss.

I could probably go on a tangent about how annoyed I am by this book. I can not believe this was a Larissa Ione book. Dreadful world building and character building. If it had been a new author I may have finished it but seriously? How can you build a world like in LOD & build a character like Reseph & then hand me this crud-o-la between Riker and Nicole (who is TSTL, IMO)? In one moment she's all "He's a brutal murderer" & then 2-3 paragraphs later she's crushing on him cuz he's such a great guy. What? When? Why? How did we get there? My biggest diappointment this year. :(

AND apparently I did just go on a tangent. LOL

She better get her mojo back for
[bookcover:Reaver|11512718]or I'm gonna cry like a little girl.

If this was a new author for me, I wouldn't have been so disappointed, but since I know that Ione can do better it was more so.

Raymond Mathiesen (raymondmathiesen) | 16 comments The Only Way Out by Don De Lene – Book Review

Problems, problems, problems… Solutions?
Hannah Lane, the seven year old girl we remember from The Power, The Miracle and The Dream, is now 22 years old and a “Pulitzer Prize winning photographer and renowned peace activist” (Ch. 1). She is with a National Geographic team that has just landed on Mars, and has become officially the first woman to set foot on the planet. Hannah has come a very long way since her loosing childhood days as an asthmatic, but how exactly did she get here? Was it really the secret of “the power within … [her] … mind” (Ch. 12) that brought her to these heights?

The Only Way Out: Forgiveness - The Path To Peace & Happiness takes us deeper into the spiritual philosophy set out in De Lene’s earlier book, concentrating on our desire to hurt others, and the solution of reconciliation through absolution. We can never really be at peace unless we are willing to forgive wrong. In this book De Lene digs deeper into a metaphysical view of the world, particularly the idea of God, however, the philosophy presented is not at all ‘orthodox’ religion. De Lene instead derives his inspiration from the non-fiction book A Course In Miracles (Helen Schucman, Foundation for Inner Peace:__ 3rd ed.:__ 2007). De Lene’s book is an unusual blend of novel and teaching manual, and is a very enjoyable and easy way of looking deeper into philosophy.

Dawn (dawnv) | 4058 comments So I read a bunch of freebies that were stuck on my kindle - none of them were very memorable so I will not bother to list them.

Swammped again with work so I am reduced to listening to Gameboard of the Gods (Age of X, #1) by Richelle Mead

I kind of like it but this two angels or whatever on Justin's shoulders is just odd. I am also trying to figure out what Tessa brings to the story??

Also the narrator is pretty good she sounds like someone I have heard before though...I should probably look into that.

message 1198: by ♥ Ashleigh ♥ (new)

♥ Ashleigh ♥ Contrary to popular belief I'm not actually mad! (cheshire_red) read Bearers of the Black Staff (Legends of Shannara, #1) by Terry Brooks pretty fantastic book though gosh the ending was so annoying!! I cant believe they ended it there!! I need to know what happens next!!
also read A Girl Like Me by Penny Matthews which I actually really enjoyed, for some weird reason I find books like these rather interesting (weird cause I usually dislike historical fiction) the ending was a little anticlimactic though :(
now to do an EPIC buddy read with a bestie - Endless Knight (The Arcana Chronicles, #2) by Kresley Cole Written in Red (The Others, #1) by Anne Bishop Acid by Emma Pass Tempt the Stars (Cassandra Palmer, #6) by Karen Chance its going to be AMAZING!!!!
while im waiting to start I might give Shine by Lauren Myracle a go :)
