Thanks Judith. I'm really enjoying these two series but I think that Kate Daniels has the edge on Mercy Thompson.

Sara | 860 comments I finished my re-read of the Descendant series by Jenna Black and I finished Street Magic (Black London, #1) by Caitlin Kittredge . Street Magic had a creepy, gritty atmosphere but I couldn't get attached to any of the characters. I'm a fourth of the way through Graveminder by Melissa Marr . It has a nice slow build but it doesn't cause the pacing of the book to drag.

Finished Hunger it was really good, even though it wasa quick read. Very different from other YA novels. Great idea with the Horsemen and it deals with real issues. Can't wait to read the other three.

message 661: by Alisa (new)

Alisa I just finished Damian's Oracle (War of Gods, #1) by Lizzy Ford It was pretty good. It was obviously the first book by an indie author. There were some editing issues and some plot gaps. I read this because I had read a book later in the series. I was ok with this book because I had already met the characters and wanted to hear there stories plus I know her storytelling & writing improves. I will stick with the others in the series.

I'm also reading Buddy How a Rooster Made Me a Family Man by Brian McGrory which is pretty good. I have pet chickens so this book is of special interest to me.

How are the Deacon Chalk books? I've looked at that series repeatedly but haven'f tried it yet.

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 3123 comments Alisa wrote: "How are the Deacon Chalk books? I've looked at that series repeatedly but haven'f tried it yet."

I like them. At first glance you wouldn't like Deacon. He runs a strip club, but it is a safe spot for those that he rescues. He doesn't make them work there, they want to. Plus his gang is very unlikely, a hard smoking, hard drinking priest, a geek, and strippers. In his world he can be a good guy or bad guy. If you wrong humans he will come after you, however if you are a supernatural and in trouble he often will save you. A find line to walk.

message 680: by Pamela (new)

Pamela | 2 comments Hi everyone my name is Pam and I'm new. I have been reading paranormal romance forever. I love them I have read all of Anita Blakes except for her last one. I also have read all of Kim Harrison The Hollows except for the last one. I get a lot of my books from Barnes and Noble free books and put them on my nook. I just got from our e-book Library one of the Sookie Stackhouse books that I must have missed, and the first book of Kim Harrison's new series. I use to read just romances but that got boring reading books with the super natural added to it spices the whole theme up. Thanks for letting me join. Pam

He developed a very severe phobia of being around people after touring his second book. I have heard of rock stars that have developed the same phobia. I know from his website that he has been in therapy for it and it is getting better but it isn't completely better yet.

That is bad, but not sure why it would stop him writing. I would keep writing, but let my publisher know that I can't tour, just do virtual tours.

message 686: by Sara (new)

Sara | 860 comments I finished The Accidental Werewolf (Accidentally Friends, #1) by Dakota Cassidy and Demon Hunter and Baby (Aisling McKay, #1) by Anna Elliott . I enjoyed both - the Accidental Werewolf was a cute paranormal romance and I liked the premise behind Demon Hunter & Baby - a single woman tries to balance motherhood and being a demon hunter/exorcist. I've started Magic in the Shadows (Allie Beckstrom, #3) by Devon Monk and Nightlife (Cal Leandros, #1) by Rob Thurman .

I would imagine it is much more complicated like the fear of touring has infiltrated his ability to write. I think the mindset follows the path of is you write something good then you will eventually have to tour so then your brain just causes you not to want to write...not sure if that makes sense writing it out like this but hopefully you follow my thinking.

Anyway I do see your point...are virtual tours as effective??

I don't know, but in that situation, wouldn't it be better than nothing?

Actually I think you are pretty dead on. I do think the logic is "if I write people will want to be around me". I do know that he is getting better because he has written some small things on his blog. None of them are connected to Locke Lamora though.
