I have finished
,
, and
, and am partway through
. I loved all three and I am enjoying the Rising so far. Bitter Night was set-up and world building for the rest of the series but didn't get bogged down with details and moved along at a nice pace. Blood Trade introduced some truly icky creepy bad guys - my only complaint is that there wasn't enough of Bruiser or Leo - my one true pair in the Jane Yellowrock series. Deadly Sting was humorous, action-packed, and had lots of Owen but it mainly laid the foundation for the next big bad of the series.

Finished
- glad I knew about the ending before or my iPod would have been thrown against the wall. Also read
- much darker than my usual UF reads. It was engrossing but I cannot say that I enjoyed it. Now listening to

is such an odd little book. On the one hand it is unique and intriguing but then parts of it are really dry or flat...still really enjoyed it but it is definitely different.

I thought the first book ended abruptly as well, and I'm sure I read somewhere that its a trilogy, so when I got to the end I wasn't terribly surprised. Disappointed yes, but not surprised.
♥ Ashleigh ♥ wrote: "finished

I'm off genre right now. Reading
which is great if you like contemp romance and
which is uuuummmmm......interesting?? Next up is
cuz it's going to be over due at the library if I don't get moving on it.
I finished
. I enjoyed it - not sure if it should be labeled as sci-fi or urban fantasy. Tina's abilities are magic based but it is implied the other's powers are caused by chemical spills. Good book with a nice supporting cast.
Sara wrote: "I finished

Sara wrote: "I finished

Got halfway through listening to
and had to put it aside. Ivy and Rachel's creepy relationship just got too weird for me. Will try and pick it up again sometime. Listening to
instead.
Lauren wrote: "Got halfway through listening to

It will stay much the way it is in book 2 through at least book 6. I can't exactly remember but I know it's awhile. If it bothers you a lot this may not be the series for you.
Finally finished
and you know I really liked it!I hope he continues to write because O'Maley is really amazing!

I was wondering if their dynamics changed at some point but if it is still like this in book 6 then I might have to give the rest of the series a miss. It probably doesn't help that I'm listening to it on audio, which only icks me out even more. It's a pity because I love Jenks and some of the other secondary characters.

I admit the Rachel/Ivy thing was weird but I liked that in it because it was such a different dynamic. I tried one book of this series in audio & it was way too slow for me. You might try reading it. I don't know if this will make a difference to you or not but nothing sexual ever happens between them.
Alisa wrote: "You might try reading it. I don't know if this will make a difference to you or not but nothing sexual ever happens between them. "It probably would be better if I read them but unfortunately I have a pet peeve that makes it virtually impossible for me to read first person that why I have to listen to most UF books.
I'm not concerned about anything sexual. It might even be better if there was something romantic between them because that I could understand. It is the notion that Ivy has the ability to bespell Rachel, to make her want/do something against her will that freaks me out.
I've read all the October Daye books by Seanan McGuire, but not the InCryptid series so I just started Discount Armageddon while I push myself through Anna Karenina for my book club.
Sandra & Alisa re:
- definitely give the book a shot. It was very good and a lot of fun. Tina is a very likable heroine and the concept of Saturn's Daughter is a more unique concept than you see in most of urban fantasy. The supporting characters are tons of fun too.
Finished
and
. Crimson Wind featured many eerie creatures and had a whole "death world" vibe throughout the book but I was most intrigued by Valery and Holt. I hope to see more of the pair in later books. One Bite With A Stranger was okay - I didn't enjoy it as much as I usually do when I read a Christine Warren book.
Got
as a freebie, then couldn't stop
and
now hanging out for #4 Blood Politics later this year.Starts out as a shifter series, then fae, vamps & mages get added in.

this week. A little disappointed to hear it was just ok. Maybe it will get tossed further down the tbr list.

I swear that free first book sucks me in every time. lol
I just finished
Man what a dreadful book this was. I started in once before & only got half way through. I thought I would give it another chance since there a lot of other books in the series. Thought maybe it was just first book syndrome. Nope, just bad, bad book. There was no real plot, the characters had no charm and there was no spark between them. The sex scenes didn't start till I only had 20% left to read. I would have tossed it then except I was so close to being done. Let me give you some of the highlights of the sex scenes. He touched her "nether lips" and (because she was of course a virgin) he had to "break through her maidenhead". Seriously??? Just when I thought it couldn't get worse he says "Let me bite your nipple. Let me nurse from you". At this point I screamed "no, no, no" and had to go to my happy place for awhile. I'm so completely traumatized right now I have no idea what I'm going to read next.
Sandra wrote: "ROFLMAO. Hope it was a really good happy place Alisa!!!"Even my happy place feels dirty right now....LOL
We're looking to start a new buddy read (or two). If you're interested check out the buddy reads rules/request section. There are a few books listed.
Honestly I try not to bad mouth books because well I think it is rude and just because I did not like it who am I to spoil it for someone else.BUT in this case I read the WORST book and I am so pissed that I actually finished it. Why I did not skip it and list it as a DNF is driving me nuts. The book is called Utterly Charming...supposed to be like a spin off of Sleeping Beauty. It should have been called Utterly Stupid and I am utterly embarrassed I read it. The worst part of it is that the author has some writing talent but man the plot and characters just uggg
Feel free to check out my frustrated review: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...
I need a good book ...I just lost four hours of my life on nonsense.
Sorry to hear that Dawn :(Hope the next one is just what you need!
ETA: Wow, just read your review, and it sounds really bad. I do like a hero who knows who he wants, none of this, is it #1 or #2 crap. At least you got it from the library!
I finished
and
. I greatly enjoyed both books. Big Bad Wolf was a fun book featuring Graham and Missy. The fantasy fix angle and Ava's obnoxiousness was downplayed more in this book as opposed to One Bite With A Stranger making the book much more enjoyable. Shadow City had two alternating plot lines - Max & Scooter's search for his missing parts and the birth of a Fury at Horgate. The main problem with this book is that the Fury storyline was so engrossing that it was frustrating to switch to the Max & Scooter storyline. And my poor angels! I've enjoyed the series but hasn't anyone read the final book yet? I would like to know if features the angels and Valery & Holt. If so, it will move up faster on my to be read list. The reviews I've read make it sound like it features a lot of Max & Alexander wishy-washiness - boo to that. I want the angels, Valery & Holt, and Giselle.
I finished
. It was okay. I loved the creatures the group had to fight - they were creepy and icky. I was very tired of the constant reminders that Jessica is a very special snowflake and pulling out different powers at the drop of a hat. It was very Mary Sue-ish and not in a good way. I'm on the fence on whether I'll continue the series - I love Naomi, Nick, Marcy, Tyler, James, and Aunt Marcy but the constant references to Jessica's "specialness" make me want to throw the book across the room. I find it frustrating because this series has real potential.
I am reading Lady of the English by Elizabeth ChadwickLady of the English and am real enjoying it, also reading The Hobbit with my sonThe Hobbit:-)
I've read a few good books lately. I just finished
which is the second book in a vampire series I really enjoy.I also read
which I LOVED! These books are contemp fiction & pretty dark. Great story though. This author takes really flawed characters and makes you care about them. I can't wait for the next one to come out next month.
I've been horribly distracted from my plan for April. I had planned to start a bunch of series that everyone but me has read. I only got two done so far. Decided to try to redeem myself for the rest of the month so I'm now reading
Finished
,
3 actually,and
. In the middle of
and
and I think I am going to get a jump on
by starting it tonight at work. Apple had a lot of good stories,Dead Highways is a serial but each episode is fairly long and very well written. Deceived isn't my usual fare but I enjoyed it none the less. The Shadow Wars is the second book of The Demi-monde and is amazing. Might Have Been is really good too, some very neat story twists but it is erotica.
Don't forget we will starting our buddy read of
tomorrow. We hope you can join us. If you've already read it you can still join in the discussion.
Finished
and loved it! I am also halfway through
- so far it has a very hillbilly feel to it but I enjoy the relationship between the feline siblings. Up next are
,
,
, and
.

finished
, was a tad weird but overall not to bad. deff plan on reading the next book in the series.now reading
which is deff odd as well but has a promising start.
Alisa wrote "I haven't been able to finish The Mane Attraction because of the hillbilly thing."It's annoying but I like the feline siblings so I'm going to make myself finish the book.
