Brian Knight (brian_knight) | 10 comments Hi all!

Would it be possible to have one of you librarians remove the following listing for The Phoenix Girls, Book 1: The Conjuring Glass?
http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/15...

That edition was cancelled before publication, and a new edition will be published this year. I can't add the old listing to my books because it was listed under my abandoned YA fantasy pseudonym Kelly Knight, and someone has since changed the byline to just Kelly.

The new, correct, listing for The Phoenix Girls, Book 1 is here - http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/16... - with the correct byline and publication info.

Again, the edition I would like removed is here - http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/15...

I hope you all have a great 2013!

Many thanks.

Brian Knight

Banjomike | 5166 comments A number of people and blogs appear to have read and reviewed the edition with two girls on the cover. Was it available as an ARC or for reviewing and such?

Brian Knight (brian_knight) | 10 comments Yeah, there were digital arcs and a few paperbacks.

Well, I was going to say that in that case we would keep it but it has already been deleted.

I'll follow it up.

Then the edition should not be deleted.

I've PM'd the librarian. Should I just pass it to support or to you or what?

I suggest just restoring the deleted edition, at this point.

Brian Knight (brian_knight) | 10 comments Hi all.

That edition was never actually published. A few arcs were released before the deal went south. I'm just hoping to avoid confusion for people looking at the book on goodreads. Even the byline was incorrect ... it was just "Kelly."

Thanks for your attention to this :)

Brian

Banjomike | 5166 comments OK, basic info and a cover. Combined. Needs ISBN.

There are hints of an earlier edition published by Dark Regions Press from 2010-ish but that can wait till tomorrow.

Brian Knight (brian_knight) | 10 comments The Dark Regions Press edition was never published. The editor and publisher parted company, and the publisher allowed some contracts to expire without publishing the books. The Phoenix Girl was one of them.

I'm actually on the 4th publisher now, the first three having fallen through before publication of the book.

It's been a bumpy road ;)

We are not planning to take over your books but Goodreads is trying to be a comprehensive database of all available books. If anyone has a copy of any book in their possession, whether a freebie or mass produced or limited edition, we want it in our database so that our members can see it and shelve it. If they want to buy it they will buy the one that on sale but we want them all.

The "Kelly" business is likely to have been a mess-up by an automated script reading duff data but now that the book has gone we cannot debug it. Unless it happens again.

Brian Knight (brian_knight) | 10 comments Understood :)

You are doing a great job too. Very thorough, which is why Goodreads is the premier book site on the web now.

Thanks again. You've all been very helpful.

Brian
