::idiotically smiles::

(Some of them are pretty smutty - I read them for, er, entertainment purposes)
I will have to strive for this year to be more comprehensive with my book listings.

My favorites were Blackout/All Clear, The Lies of Locke Lamora, Lolita, We Need to Talk About Kevin, and Sex at Dawn.
My least favorite was XVI.
The longest book I read was Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell. (1,006 pages)
I think the shortest was In the Bar of a Tokyo Hotel. (45 pages)
45 were by female authors.
53 were by male authors.
2 were by multiple authors who are both male & female.
Hmmm, what other fun stats can I figure out?

Alias Grace
Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close
A Song of Ice and Fire
White Oleander
Honorable mention:
The Tenderness of Wolves
She's Come Undone
The Lovely Bones
I was not fond of:
Summer Sisters
Squirrel Seeks Chipmunk: A Modest Bestiary
Favorites of the free downloaded variety:
To Journey In The Year Of The Tiger
To Walk In The Way Of Lions

I really enjoyed Gone for Good.
I absolutely HATED Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close. This was probably one of the worst books I've ever read in my entire life.

IMO the stinker in my stash was The Historian.
Hi there, Heaven is a book store!

My favorites were Blackout, Cold Days, Wool Omnibus, and Discount Armageddon, Eyes Like Stars.
The WORST book I read in 2012 and one of the worst I've ever read was The Scroll of Seduction: A Novel.

I read 20 books last year the lowest total in quite awhile, but read the most pages since I've been on Goodreads.

It doesn't count a ton of short stories that I read and loved this year. I'm reading a lot of stories, especially now that I'm eligible to nominate for the Nebulas.
My highlights among books published in 2012:
The Orphan Master's Son
Near + Far (short story collection)
In the Shadow of the Banyan
Shadow Show: All-New Stories in Celebration of Ray Bradbury (anthology)
The Drowning Girl
After the Fall, Before the Fall, During the Fall: A Novel
Astray (short story collection)
Signs and Wonders (short story collection)
My favorite non-2012 books I read in 2012:
After the Apocalypse (short story collection)
Rebecca
Ammonite
City
Silently and Very Fast (novella)
Brown Girl in the RingMurder on the Orient Express
The Man Who Bridged the Mist (novella)

My favorites for the year were The Perks of Being a Wallflower and The Tiger's Wife.

Longest book read: Fifty Shades Freed by E.L. James - 594 pages

My favorite book from 2012 was A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. My least favorite was Flirting with Pride and Prejudice: Fresh Perspectives on the Original Chick-Lit Masterpiece.
It was not a terribly strong year for "great" finds; only one or two warranted 5 stars. I was happy to finally read Jeeves and Wooster this year, as well as my first foray into the work of Connie Willis. I bought like 20 books with the gift cards I got for Christmas, so I'm hoping to read better books (if not more) in 2013, at least before I have to give up all of my free time for an infant.
