Abi (abi_gr) | 27659 comments Society casts an image of what body shape is "perfect" And alot of people believe it.
I saw a gif that shown the before and after pictures of Jenifer Lawrence before going on the cover of a magazine.

They made her thighs and hips smaller, made her face looked thinner, And they actually moved bones in the collarbone to make it look thinner!
It's ridiculous. People on magazines don't even look like themselves.

I love Jennifer Lawrence, and she definitely speaks out about what she belives in with healthy body image...she's such an inspiration! I have the biggest girl cursh on her haha

I love her too. :)
If more celebrities were like her, people wouldn't be so brutal about weight issues.

Exactly! I think that's been partially why I never think I'm thin enough, because celebrities are so damn skinny! I think now I just need to see that I am skinny, actually way underweight, and that I should just learn to be happy with myself...and I am slowly learning that :)

Tati I'm dying to have a hair cut (it's been 8 months since my last cut). But all salons here are so expensive! Do you think it would be too risky to have my hair cut by a student or a trainee, as they are so much cheaper (and in some cases, free)?

I think with cutting it's not so risky.
I had my hair cut for free by a student before, and it turned out pretty good.
My nan had her permed by a student, and it turned out better than the place she went to before.
Though, i would never risk it with dye.
My cousin wanted to dye her hair blonde, and used a student.
Let's just say she didn't leave with blonde hair..

message 1858: by Tati (new)

Tati That's what I keep telling myself! And if the cut is bad, well, hair grows back, right?

As for dying, for me that's a big no-no. My hair has a pretty unusual color, which I love. My hairdresser back home once told me that if I ever wanted to dye my hair, I'd have to find someone else to do it, because she would not do it.

Exactly. :)
Anyway, if its not very straight. (Though i'm sure it'll be fine) You can always just get a trim, Which is cheaper than a full cut.

I've never dyed my hair either. I'm happy with my brunette color, My cousin used to have pretty thick hair like me, but she dyes it all the time now, and it's gone really thin and patchy at the roots. So it just shows how much damage it does.

you are welcome anytime!! and thanks, if you have to care about your weight, think about your health, and that is one thing you need to maintain.

Abbie, I'm so sorry to hear that. My cousins keep distance from me too, although they haven't said anything on my face. It's the older people who...... But, hey, who cares? they are too dumb to see me, so why should I care? we rock, right? :D

Tatiana...i hope mission hair cut goes well!! ;) what color is your hair?

message 1861: by Tati (new)

Tati Samia,

as today is a bank holiday here, I'm going tomorrow to the salon to ask about having my hair cut by a trainee. My hair is strawberry blonde, I think. My grandfather always said it has the color of gold.

We have a funny story about it in the family. Nearly the whole family went to see a Eric Clapton concert in a stadium. I guess our section seated about 10 or 15,000 people. My aunt and my cousin arrived when we were already inside. They got to where we were all seated and said that they had only found us because they saw my hair...

message 1862: by Abi (new)

Abi (abi_gr) | 27659 comments That sounds like such a gorgeous color Tatiana! I can see why you wouldn't want to dye it. :)

Tati Hair update:

I went to the salon yesterday, and made an appointment to have my hair cut for free by a trainee in July (!). But now I'm thinking I won't be able to wait until then. So I'm seriously thinking about forking out the money (need to see if it will fit in my budget for this month). However, I know that here in the UK tipping is taken seriously and was wondering if I should tip the hairdresser (I wouldn't in Brazil).

message 1900: by [deleted user] (new)

We don't tip hairdressers in the US, but if tipping is a serious thing in the UK, then I might consider it.
