My mother loves reading and I think I picked up the hobby from her. She has a book shelves full ranging from romance to memoirs, but the only thing I read from the shelves was excorcist lol

kirstin ✿ (shoutohdoroki) | 290 comments I'm jealous right now :/ No one in my family understand my love for books, but I'm trying to persuade my little sister into it. And she's quite enjoying it.

Whenever people see me reading, they are awed and would ask me if I don't get bored. Oh my. They really don't have any idea what reading books is like.

message 1603: by Megan (new)

Megan | 34 comments ikr... I tell people that I read to escape from everyday reality and no one seems to ever understand.

message 1604: by [deleted user] (new)

Megan - that is what I do too. Having the ability to pick up a book and escape to a new world is just...amazing.

I also tell people that I read when I'm stressed out and everyone is shocked that it works. All my friends drink to release their stress.

There is just something about reading that makes life so much better. And I feel bad for people who don't read because they are missing out on a lot.

message 1605: by [deleted user] (new)

Haha, how can someone get bored by reading, when one gets the chance to imagine things? Aside from improving comprehension and vocabulary, it also allows the mind to work through imagination :) less candidate for alzheimer's? :D

message 1606: by [deleted user] (new)

Labor day!! :) I have at least 4 more days before I resume writing again lol

message 1607: by Megan (new)

Megan | 34 comments Lindsay, I agree. so many of my friends are shocked that I read when I'm stressed. it's like reading for fun has become a foreign subject.

message 1608: by [deleted user] (new)

Megan, it has! One of my friends in college picked up her first book for "fun" the day before The Hunger Games came out. It was her first book since high school, which was 5 years ago. They make fun of me because I always have either a book and my Nook on me. And when it's a movie from a book they always watch the movie and then say "the movie is way better then the book" even if they have not read it yet.

True! This site is nice because I could talk to other people regarding books.

message 1610: by Beatrice (new)

Beatrice (beatricemasalunga) I think I got the hobby of reading books from my dad, he loves mystery/crime books particularly John Grisham books (not really my type) and as well as from my aunts who love Sidney Sheldon & Nicholas Sparks books.

My mom though loves reading Reader's Digest only.

Haha thanks to GR! My mom used to read a lot when we were younger however now, she just have a lot to focus on e.g our business, her work, etc so she doesn't have time to read books (any type) anymore and when she does, she'll go to sleep because she's tired. But good thing my family supports my reading craze! :)

I've read one of his books, Master of the Game and it's so good. :) (my friend borrowed it, until now he didn't return it. I'm so pissed off because it was an old version.)

I agree with you on the Word Quizzes. Me & my dad used to answer it. My mom also likes Newsweek, it's a lot (include RD but lost some copies)

I think, I've read almost all his book. I only have one in my collection, the rest I borrowed from a friend's mom (Oh my! I'm sooo old haha)

His novels are a page-turner. It won't give you an idea how the story will end.

Kate (kaitlins16) Have you read Illuminate by Aimee Agresti? It's an angels vs. demons book, though the angel part isn't really brought out until the second half. It's a pretty good book.

message 1640: by Pahel (new)

Pahel | 285 comments Lol I'm super clumsy! I once fell off the bunk bed! :P I've gotten hit on my head 5 times! Blood and all. Closed the bathroom door on my hand once. Gosh that was painful. Walked into a wall once. Well thatz all I can remember for now :P

Samia wrote: "I am in post angelfall cravings and I have been looking for books with angels for the past hour......please recommend!! I can't make up my mind!1 :'("

Srsly same here! There aren't many good ones out there though!

I felt the same Samia. I was looking for books that have angels and apocalypse all at once, since angels are my favorite supernatural beings, and I love apocalypse as well.

But no luck. Angelfall, as far as I know, is the only one with that kind of theme.

Anyway, have you read Daughter of Smoke and Bone already? I'm guessing you did. :)

Well, you could read Sweet Evil (The Sweet Trilogy, #1) by Wendy Higgins if you haven't read it yet, or try any of Cassandra Clare's Mortal Instruments or the Infernal Devices series, .or maybe you would like Blood Will Tell (Warriors of Ankh, #1) by Samantha Young

The closeness of their name's making it hard for me to separate one from the other! LOL. But one thing they have in common: dimple on the left cheek :)
