Tati I wore braces for nearly half of my life. I don't miss them LOL

How long are they supposed to stay on?

message 6455: by Tati (new)

Tati I hate it when I'm sure I sent a book to my Kindle, and I haven't. Of course, it's the book I'm dying to read...

Tati I'll have to wait until I get home to get my hands on it. Luckily, I'm leaving earlier today, so the wait won't be too long

Dorothy (dorothyyy) | 55 comments Okay, I really want to read Me Before You by Jojo Moyes. I've heard some people say this is an okay book for 14 years olds(like me), while others say this is a too "advanced" book. I need advice as to whether or not I should read this book. Again, I am 14. Thanks!!!

message 6460: by Tati (new)

Tati If your concern is adult scenes, I don't think there are any.

If you plan on watching the movie (or already have), this should be fine for you. I mean, there is nothing graphic in it, though there are some controversial themes. I'd say go for it, you can always give it up if you're not comfortable with it

Okay, thanks!! Some of my friends were possibly seeing the movie soon, and I wanted to, its just I like reading books first. I didn't know if it was "appropriate" for me, but your answer really helps. Thanks again!!

Tati Random question:

if I re-read a book within the same year, will Goodreads count it as one book, rather than two, toward my reading goal?

message 6469: by Sarah Elizabeth (new)

Sarah Elizabeth (bookworm_sarah) | 90918 comments Mod
If you re-read a different edition, and set the read date it will count it as 2, if you just re-read the same edition, it will count it as 1.

message 6470: by Tati (new)

Tati Ah, I'll do that, then, set two different editions. It's a big book, I want the re-read to be counted LOL

message 6471: by CallMeSensei (new)

CallMeSensei Hi all--

I'm going to be participating in the #MakeMeRead It Readathon next month. Part of the readathon is letting other people decide what you'll read.

I've set up a poll here & if you wouldn't mind voting, I'd really appreciate it! Thanks :)

If you're participating, I'd be happy to take your poll too. Just message me!

So far it's great! I had to get one for college because our veterinary tech text book is ebook form so now I'm like well I have it so might as well use it. So I am one of those people where I prefer physical book to ebook BUT I love reading before bed and I do have a book light but the batteries are an issue so I'm like hey kindle! I can now buy my physical books that I"m reading in ebook form and just read on both platforms! So yay for nighttime reading now even though I should be sleeping!

Tati The Olympic Torch is going to be in my city tomorrow, and all I can think about is the hassle it's going to cause, especially traffic-wise (they are blocking all the major avenues during rush hour)

message 6492: by Remi (new)

Remi (remivfoliage) I need your help!!!

I've been thinking a lot about reading since the morning.

(In case you don't know, I'm a logical person. I like to do a lot of thinkings and I look for answers.)

Please. If you have answers, do let me know. It's been bothering me for quite a long time.

I used to be a kid who likes reading children picture books. I used to listen to Harry Potter audio book (voice: my mother. She read to me every night.) when I was young.

I used to flip through the pages, glance through the lines, without really reading.
In 2015, I decided to read, really read something, thinking that maybe I could become a reader. It's been a year and a half.

I think I fail.

I understand why people read one or two books a month. Truth is that I don't understand readers who spend their free time reading books...just for fun?

Why do you like reading novels? Is it because you can escape from the reality? Or is it because you can fantasize about the characters?

Why don't you like to hang out with real friends in your free time? Strolling around the blocks, watching movies, or just chatting?

I've read many books, but most of the time I didn't find them entertaining. I've read some popular books which everyone seems to at least like one of them, but I don't like any of them. (Cinder, The Selection, Doon, Shiver, The Raven Boys,Obsidian, Crown Of Midnight...)

Am I a sociopath?

I only truly like the books I read earlier. (Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, The Maze Runner...) What the heck is wrong with me?

If I don't care about the characters, should I read books?

When people asked me about OTP, my brain was blank. I don't care what their romance relationships are. They are fake. I can't put myself into the stories.

When I came across fictional boyfriend tag on Booktube, at first, I was excited. However, when I tried to pick my fictional boyfriends, it turned out that there was none.
Therefore, I tried to do a fictional girlfriend version. It turned out...still none.
The first question got me stuck...the most romantic...what does romantic mean?
The most badass...well, I can find a lot of candidates but I don't want them to be my bf/gf.

Reading books make me sort of find out that I am aromantic (?) since I can't stand the scenes in the books. Saying they're kissing is totally fine with me. Nonetheless, detailing about the kissing, touching... ...Please stop!

And I know that most of the books contain these things!

Should I give up reading? Am I ,again, a sociopath?

Please let me know what you think.

Hello Jeffrey,
Thanks for letting me know what you think.

Agree. I guess I like books I read earlier because I like those happy memories when I was younger.
I do like the idea of reading.

Can't really say I don't like reading now. Well...I'm weird. During summer vacation, I force myself to read a book a day. LOL, it turns out that I don't like most of the books. I guess I need to take a break or watching tv series.

I love football. I like to watch football games and join my cousins and their friends on weekends. Goalkeeper is an important position! Good luck with football!

Hi Jeffrey,
Yeah, so I'm now taking a break on reading.

I forced myself to read because there are too many new books on my shelves that I haven't touched. I feel guilty. But yes, I have to take a break or I'll hate reading forever.

Agree with you on sportsman!

Happy reading

Thanks. Happy reading

Dominic Carrillo (dvicente) | 5 comments I was gonna recommend reading The Shining until I realized I'm almost 2 months behind on that one...
So, if I may, I'd like to recommend a new YA read for the summer: The Improbable Rise of Paco Jones!
I am a bit biased, but Kirkus, School Library Journal, and other reviewers seem to like it. Please check Paco Jones out if it sounds interesting!
