I'm so anxious today! I'm making a presentation to one of my company's vice-presidents! I'm a bundle of nerves!
random: Does anyone wanna read The Hobbit-- some classic YA?not-so-random: I recommend the new YA novel The Improbable Rise of Paco Jones. If you're interested in buddy-ing up with the author, let me know. https://www.kirkusreviews.com/book-re...
I'm doing the savetheculture book exchange project. Not sure if it's appropriate to post in here, so if anyone's interested, take a look at my profile (it's in my status down the page) or message me.I finally started on my bachelor project today! About time.
23 books for my birthday. May have more on the way. I just have to wait for them all to get here now. So excited.

Has anybody else ever had a problem with an ebook from Netgalley in terms of its formatting? I finished a book there now and it was missing lines, it was all up and over the pages?? But nobody else has picked up on this from the reviews D:
A lot of times! I usually email the publisher when that happens. If that's not possible, then I review it saying I couldn't read it due to formatting issues
I just had the best time I've had with my cats since my dog died. I got to play with a new toy with my cat Mel and my cat Jasmine tried to play with it but she's very shy and got scared. After Mel was done with the toy I just petted Jasmine for several minutes. I really miss Golden but I'm happy I still have my cats. :)
I just found out that the decision to have our cat put down was made today. Shes about 14 years old. We think she has cancer and may be getti g gaingreen on top of it.
:( Sorry about that Jora.I've written one page of my bachelors degree project so far. I've had since 1st of February... Yeah, I better get started. I'm determined to write at least 10 pages in the next three days!

Thanks all. I've spend an hour reading this morning and it's so interesting! That definitely helps a lot! :)
Hi My name is Raneem, I'm 18 and I love reading and writing and eating!! :) I started writing my story after reading Sarah J Maas's book A Court Of Thorns And Roses. I am still working on my story, if you would like to check it out and give me some feedback that would be great because my goal is to publish my story.https://www.quotev.com/story/6607465/...
Well, this thread is random so I will jump in as well. Hello, my name is Tom Roberts. I am new to GoodReads and was wondering what do people actually think of Game of Thrones? , the books not the TV production. I have tried to get into them just before the TV show started and I found them hard going, a bit tiresome and, I have to say, a bit boring - kind of where the show is now going.
I admit it may be because I am an author of fantasy (not as successful as GRRM of course, link below if you would like to read it) but I think the screen version was his making, i don’t like the style of the book at all as I like fast paced less meandering works, which is more my style of writing. I want to be swept along and not plod. I am curious and wondering if people do like his books or is it the popularity because of the hype around the show? If I think about it, Game of Thrones isn’t really YA so is there a typical reader for this series?
The Kingdom of Men
I enjoy both, to be honest.I read the books before the TV show, so I was swept along by the show. I'd say that the typical reader for this is someone that enjoys high fantasy, doesn't need a fast-paced story and enjoys characters that can't easily be classified as good or evil.
Also, G.R.R. Martin is a producer of the show and has written only three or four episodes of the whole series so far. Therefore, the writing is not his own and the writers have some creative freedoms, as was made obvious by the changes made in the last season. This season, they're winging it as they have mostly run out of source material
Fair point, the writers for the show have run with his concept and certainly made it more accessible to reach a wider audience - now they are winging it I wonder where they will go as it is such a money spinner they will want many more seasons - maybe we should feed in some ideas!
Oh please no! I'm not sure yet whether their winging it is better or worse than using the source material, to be honest. I rather get the sense that they are rushing toward the end rather than slowing things down to get more seasons out of the show.
agreed, nothing worse than a show running too long and just declining slowly, let's hope it ends in epic fashion and on a high!
Hello! Does anyone know where I can find some more bookish blocks challenges? I'm trying to find as many as possible so I can have a nice reading list!
I'm really considering going for an MBA in Book Publishing and trying to make a career out of it. I worry that it might be too crazy or, plainly speaking, a mistake to do that. On the other hand, I won't know if I don't try

Better do it than regret it :)
I'm almost done with my bachelor thesis, yay!Would anyone in here be so kind as to help me out with my abstract? It's in English, and I just want to make sure there are no mistakes :) I haven't written it yet, but it won't be more than half a page. Plus, it's about reading and libraries ;)
That's what I reckon. I mean, the MBA will take me 18 months, and it'll give me an overview of book publishing. I know very little about the reality of it, even though I moonlight as a critical reader for potential publication rights purchase.
Hey guys! The first book in my ya dystopian fantasy series, Echo Among Stars, is FREE! I'd love for you to grab a copy and if you'd like to contact me for a copy of the second book, Silence Among Stars, I'd be happy to send it to you in exchange for a review. Thank you! https://amzn.com/B00U0SDCL6
