Divergent is really good! Though there are some parts that I wish it was longer and emphasized.

Exact same reaction! I loved it and thought they did a great job sticking to the book. My brother thought it was boring! Lacking action. Ugh such a shame

Rachael (classycupcakezz) | 5933 comments I loved Mockingjay Part 1.. I too LOVED the song scene. I think all the actors did there very best work in this movie.. Very believable (except for Jen's hair)

message 5180: by Tati (new)

Tati I'm having those feelings as well, Irene. Though I haven't even moved out yet. But my goal for next year is to move out, I don't think I can take it much longer

Amy | 2535 comments That's my goal for next year aswell Tati - I live with seven other people and this time of year makes me go insane. I feel you guys' pain!

message 5182: by Tati (new)

Tati I live just with my mom and my sister (and the dog), and I can't take it anymore. They are all Capricorns, maybe that's why? LOL

message 5183: by Samia (new)

Samia Ruponti (snoebell92) | 451 comments I often think about moving out, but then I think, who's going to take care of mom? But she does drive me insane! Good luck Ami and Tati!

and merry Christmas to those who celebrate.

message 5184: by Tati (new)

Tati Well, my mom is more than able to look after herself, as she isn't even 60 yet. But I need to be able to do things my way and in my own time, rather than have her nagging me all the time about ironing the laundry or doing the dishes

message 5185: by Irene (new)

Irene (raenne) | 4856 comments I love living by myself, but it took some getting used to.
One example is that I can have dinner when I want. At my parents, it's 6pm every day. At my house, it's somewhere between 5.30 and 8! Haha

message 5186: by Tati (last edited Dec 22, 2014 08:20AM) (new)

Tati I lived by myself for a year, and it was pretty great!

And 6 PM is a tad early to have dinner, me thinks

message 5190: by Irene (new)

Irene (raenne) | 4856 comments So... What are your Christmas traditions?

It's Chrismas Eve which means Christmas here in Denmark. And the rest of Scandinavia..
My family will go to church later, while I make the food (yay!) :D We're having some kind of pork roast, duck roast, potatoes, caramelled potatoes, apples with redcurrant jelly etc. which is more or less the traditional Christmas dinner.
The pork roast:
For dessert we're having a kind of rice pudding with one whole almond in it - the one who gets the almond, gets a present. Also a tradition in Denmark :)

Then we're off to have coffee, tea, sweets etc. Just having a good time! And then we're dancing around the Christmas tree while singing some carols, and then we're having presents. :D

Every year at 4PM there's Disney in telly. It's a collection of all the old short christmas clips :) I think almost every Dane is watching that show, even though it's the same every year!
Dinner is most often served at 6PM :)

message 5191: by Tati (new)

Tati In my family, only my uncle and my cousins go to church, nobody else does. At around 7 or 8 PM we're all at my grandparents' house and the "children" (the youngest of us is 12) go for a walk so "Santa" can put the presents underneath the tree. No, nobody thinks it's Santa, but it's still tradition.

After opening the presents, we have dinner around 9PM. It's nothing too complicated, salads, rice with almonds and sultanas, and chester (a type of poultry we have here in Brazil, a mix between chicken and turkey). Dessert changes every year, and afterwards there is stollen (a German Christmas "bread"- my family is of German origin), cookies and stuff we get sent from Germany, like lebkuchen.

message 5192: by Irene (new)

Irene (raenne) | 4856 comments Oooh Stollen is so good!! :D I really love it! :D

message 5193: by Tati (new)

Tati Me too!! Too bad we can only eat it on Christmastime

message 5194: by Irene (new)

Irene (raenne) | 4856 comments Agreed! Although... I'm pretty sure you could find a recipe - but then again, it wouldn't be the same if you had it all year :P

message 5195: by Tati (new)

Tati I have a recipe, and I bake it every year, but it's hard work LOL Persuading all those dried fruits that the dough is their friend is tough.

And if we had it throughout the year, it wouldn't be special anymore, right?

message 5196: by Mei (new)

Mei (meijey) | 3810 comments Merry Christmas my fellow Goodreads friends! It's nice hearing your traditions!

We don't go to church as a whole because in my family alone, we all have different religions. We're four in the family and we all have each different beliefs. But it isn't a hindrance, anyway. We have lots of food—doughnuts, cakes, ham, BBQ, chicken, sandwiches, hot chocolate... name it! We have countdowns and the relatives come over for games, opening of presents, and we have this yearly tradition of my aunts and uncles throwing money and we all get them as they throw it (kind of like when a celebrity throws his tshirt or whatever in a concert). Then we compare how much we got and joke over bumping each others' arms or hands so the coins or money drop off. It's fun, haha! There are also fireworks and singing along :)
