Ami So is that 1/1/13 on which part of the world? *grin*. Oh, I'm in. I still have 3 books currently read, but I'm frickin' in. It's 4 AM on January 1st here, I'll start later today.

message 10: by Ery (new) - added it

Ery Reading tomorrow. Partying tonight :)

message 11: by [deleted user] (last edited Dec 31, 2012 05:18PM) (new)

Um, well, confession. It isn't exactly January 1st, but I started anyway.

So far it's great. Love Tiny!! I need more Tiny. But (small) will grayson is nicely misanthropic. I might <3 him.

Okay, fine. I'll stop and wait. Currently somewhere in Ch. 2.

HURRY UP!!!

message 12: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm loving this so far. Tiny is awesum (note the "u"), first WG is snarky and cynical, no caps wg is depressed and cynical, and so funny.

I have too many highlights and I keep laughing my coffee back into the mug. Which is kind of disgusting. Maybe I won't drink it.

Santino Hassell This book is awesome. I want to know if both WGs meet at some point.

WG2 is such a cynical fuck. And his CVS comments reminded me of my days when I was a manager at Walgreens. Fuck shelving Metamucil, and facing. And the people who mess up your work!

*nods, nods* I luv both WG/wg. So freakin good.

Sun You all cheated and started early.

sad.com

I'll try and catch up...but my head hurts...

message 16: by Aiko (new) - rated it 4 stars

Aiko I want to see Tiny Dancer.

Christina Aiko wrote: "I want to see Tiny Dancer."

Oh we better get more of that!

message 18: by Jenn (new) - rated it 5 stars

Jenn I too love this book. When he said he instantly turned down the FB request b/c it shouldn't be that easy to make friends, I died.

I love that he hates punctuation. I love that Issac makes him smile.

I want to see Tiny Dancer soooo bad.

I have too many highlights already. I need to know who is Isaac!

message 20: by Jenn (new) - rated it 5 stars

Jenn The great thing too is I love both of them. W2 kind of tugs my heart more, but I have laughed out loud so much.

When Tiny falls face first on the carpet sobbing? I couldn't help it. I was laughing b/c I've been there so many times.

He let David punch him for Will to get into a bar!

And I thought Maura and Will's chat session that they showed was the driest, most hilarious snippet. He kind of breaks your heart, but I love that he connects even for just a few hours with someone else that 'gets' him.

I'm also enjoying the little digs against gay fiction, esp. Y/A:

Talking about Tiny Dancer: "It shows gay people as whole and complicated-not just like 'oh my God I have to tell my daddy that I like boys and wah-wah it's so hard.'"

Heh. Yes. The easy anguish of some of these tropes gets kind of old.

I know! The snotty snoring on the carpet? Cracked me up.

(rofl! what? are you really on the floor laughing? well, please stay down there a sec while I KICK YOUR ASS.) - I couldn't stop laughing.

Definitely. i loved that part

message 25: by Aiko (new) - rated it 4 stars

Aiko Oh god! I hope Isaac is the real deal. Just done with chapter 4 and this has the potential to end in tears bigger than Tiny's.

message 26: by [deleted user] (new)

Eh, I'm only finishing chapter 3. I got sucked into a discussion of football. Why?? I need to take my kindle and hide from the men and the TV.

message 27: by [deleted user] (new)

the IM between Isaac and wg is so good. I love the scornographic dialogue and corn porn segueing into serious tenderness. Sweet and exciting.

message 28: by Jenn (new) - rated it 5 stars

Jenn maura: shut up for a second. me: only if you shut up, too. maura: stop it. me: you started it.

*** I mentioned I adore WG2, right? Love him.

message 29: by LenaLena (new) - added it

LenaLena Oh gawd, I'm defective. On chapter 5 and not loving it so far. For some weird reason it is depressing me. I know it is supposed to be funny and I guess it is, but both WGs are such downers.

message 30: by Ami (last edited Jan 01, 2013 02:07PM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Ami I'm a little behind, since I just finished my first book in 2013 and now I'm in Goodreads instead of reading *haha*. But I already read the first uhm 2 pages maybe (says my Kindle). However, cannot make a comment yet. Too early to say anything. Will catch up today (motivated mode)

message 31: by Ery (new) - added it

Ery Haha. I'm behind too. I'm still in recovery from NYE

Santino Hassell they are kind of downers, but i think i like them because i'm also a downer. daniel is the horrible thing the thing that happens at around 40%?

message 33: by [deleted user] (new)

I liked owg from the beginning. Such a depressed negative little schmuck, but hopeful. Willing to take a huge leap for the brass ring.

message 34: by LenaLena (new) - added it

LenaLena Not at 40% yet. I'll persevere!

Sun The quotes you all have been posting have been hysterical.

But I wonder if the book is too cool for me. I'm more geek-tastic and this seems like it's very hip-tacular.

I'm a How to Repair a Mechanical Heart kinda gal. Will I like this? Kate? Jenn? Lenore? Will this book like me back? :)

message 36: by Ami (new) - rated it 5 stars

Ami So one chapter of WG and one chapter of wg and so far I love them both!!

wg inner monologue about lol and ttyl and <3 is HILARIOUS

Imagine Boyd being a put upon, cynical teenager who thinks in snark. You have 2/3 kids in this book. Now Tiny is a different story. He's in his own category. But I'm only about halfway and things could still change.

I know. Then I went and typed a bunch of them in my next comment thread. LOLOLOLOL.

Ami and where one learns that a man’s station wagon goes inside a woman’s garage, and then exits the garage, and then enters again, and so on until an egg is fertilized, and etc

Oh, God, is that how you parents talk to your kids about sex?? *cringe but then chuckle*
