Books and apps stacking on main screen - nook tablet

Occasionally, for no reason, all of my little icons stack themselves on top of each other. I am able to separate them manually, but no idea why they do this. Anyone else have this issue? Is it a symptom of a bigger issue?

I have a nook color but try holding the icons down maybe a little box will come up.
