Hello! I am trying to find a book I read sometime between 2007-2011 about a female country singer who's son left for college and was murdered. Her old flame is now a private detective who comes back to their old hometown (tourist town, cape?) and lives on his boat while he helps her discover what happened to her son. Any help would be appreciated! Thank you!

Though I know that it's not what you're looking for, the houseboat made me think of "Murder by Numbers" - the film with Sandra Bullock. Though I'm not sure if there is a book made from it or vice versa.
