Rob Twinem (runner56) There's just too many good books and too little time to read them all..I started to read on Friday The Labyrinth of Osiris by Paul Sussman a 700 page tour de force and it is amazing..what really saddened me though was that the author Paul Sussman died very soon after completing this book, what a great loss to the literary world...so sad that he will no longer be around to produce such awesome thrillers

message 364: by Enrique (new)

Enrique Hi Everyone, I'm a 47 year old lawyer living in Mexico City.
I got hooked on reading after I read The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton at the age of 13 in a boarding school runned by nuns in Philadelphia (figure that out). I pretty much like to read anything I can get my hands on, specially SF, mysteries and fantasy novels.
I'd love to read your recommendations.

message 365: by Enrique (new)

Enrique Thanks for the tips Jenni, you have a nice group here, I'm gonna enjoy being part of it.

message 366: by peg (new)

peg (mcicutti) Welcome,Enrique!

What boarding school did you attend? I live in a suburb of Philadelphia.

message 367: by Enrique (new)

Enrique Thanks Peg.
I went to St Aloysius Academy, in Bryn Mawr, Pa. You know it?

message 368: by peg (last edited Jan 29, 2013 09:18AM) (new)

peg (mcicutti) Oh yes. I have driven past it many times. I attended Villanova University which isn't far from St Aloysius.

message 369: by Enrique (new)

Enrique Yes I've seen it too, they are very close. Haven´t been there in 30 years but it was a beautiful place and I remember it fondly.

message 370: by peg (new)

peg (mcicutti) I'm sure that you are enjoying much warmer weather than we are right now. I have been to Mexico City. That is a beautiful place as well.

message 371: by Enrique (new)

Enrique We are having good weather now, not like last week, and it is a nice place to live, no complaints there.

Ava Catherine Welcome to the group, Sara and Luke!

Luke, you are my neighbor; I live in Tupelo, Mississippi. Louisiana is such a beautiful state, which you must enjoy in your forestry job. When I was in college, I remember a friend of mine majoring in forestry and loving it.
So glad to have you here with us, neighbor! : )

Hello Connie, I did learn a lot with those nuns, they were like surrogate mothers to us boarders.
Thank you so much for making us newbies feel so welcome!

message 379: by Shannon (new)

Shannon Hi,
I'm a newbie. I've been on Goodreads since 2008 and never joined a group and thought it was high time I did. I have eclectic (though not high-brow) tastes in reading but am concentrating on mysteries. I just moved back to Boulder, CO from Flagstaff. I have roots in the Nebraska Sandhills.

message 380: by Shannon (new)

Shannon I probably posted that in the wrong place. Sorry. I'll try to figure it out and repost it.

message 381: by Shannon (new)

Shannon Thanks, Jenni. I hate to admit how techno-challenged I am!

Mindy (undertowsoul) Shannon wrote: "Welcome, Mindy. I just moved from Flagstaff and spent a fair amount of time in southern Utah. Love Moab, as well and Canyonlands."

I love Moab! I'm down there a couple of times a year. My family usually does the marathon. Sadly, I have pretty bad knee issues and can't do the length of running but I still visit. I live in mid to northern Utah just south of Salt Lake valley, about 20 minutes from Sundance ski resort. I lived in Vegas for a while too and I miss not having 2 feet of snow. Too cold but this is where the friends and family I love are at so I stay.

message 399: by Chiara (new)

Chiara (chiara__smith) Hello, new here! My name is Chiara and I am from Sydney. I spend about 12 hours a week commuting to work and all of that is spent reading. I go through about 1 - 3 books a week and wouldn't have it any other way. I like most genres and really enjoy getting recommendations and discussing books with others.

message 400: by Mindy (new)

Mindy (undertowsoul) Welcome Chiara! Good Reads sounds like the place for you and you've joined a great group!
