Tina Williams Lomax | -18 comments Hey! I'm Tina from Alabama. I'm a married stay at home mom, of 2 boys. I am still kind of new to Goodreads and just now finding my way around to groups that I'm interested in. I had stopped reading for years but now that my boys are older I have delved back in with a passion! I love mystery, psychological thrillers, suspense and just about any type of fiction.

I am just starting James Patterson's Woman Of God.

Lagniappe | 12 comments Hello from the middle of Mardi Gras in New Orleans! I just joined Goodreads yesterday, am searching for my niche, and this seemed like a good spot to start. I like most genres but mystery/crime/thriller is my favorite. I look forward to finding new book friends and having a few interesting discussions. I do have a beginner's question for y'all. Do you try to backlog your reads and put them on your shelves or do most just jump in from day 1 with the new books they have read?

message 3259: by Eve (new)

Eve Kay Hello, I'm Eve, or Ev for short. I've recently discovered I read too many books that I are just okay, so I want to start focusing on genres/styles I like. Pretty much all of them are mentioned in the description of this group.

Hi Lagniappe, I backlog alot. It helps me remember what authors/books I liked and helps with the search for similar ones here on GR.

Hi, Lagniappe. I backlogged only my really favorite books, mostly to give people an idea of who I am as a reader.

message 3261: by Raymond (new)

Raymond I'm Ray. I live near Pittsburgh, PA. I'm a semi-retired lawyer and new part-time Uber/Lyft driver. I prefer mysteries and thrillers. Favorite sub genre is Noir. Favorite author is Ken Bruen. But I also like Adrian McKinty and many others.

I read a lot. Especially books set in foreign countries like the Dr. Siri books set in Laos. My last book was Human Acts by Han Kang which is set in South Korea and not a mystery.

message 3263: by Ninna (new)

Ninna | 32 comments Hi I'm Ninna and new to the group. I love reading all kinds of genres - literary fiction, sci-fi, fantasy, non-fiction, YA, chick lit but mostly read mysteries. I like all different sub-genres in mystery but am partial to cozy mysteries and I love my British police procedurals. I hope to find some fun books to read here and great discussions to go along with them! Happy Reading all!

message 3265: by Erica (new)

Erica (eburart) Hi everyone! My name is Erica, I live in South Carolina, I work in a bookstore, and I'm still fairly new to goodreads. I made an account years back when I got a kindle for my birthday, but never decided to keep up with it until recently. I've always been an avid reader with my dad taking me on weekly library runs as a kid so I could stock up on my weekly 6 book limit. My love for mystery came when my mom passed on her Nancy Drew books, from when she was a kid, to me. I love suspense, thrillers, and cozy mysteries the most, but I also dabble in historical fiction and nonfiction on occasion.

message 3266: by E.Michael (new)

E.Michael Helms Greetings Erica! I live in the Upstate of South Carolina (Oconee County) near the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. I've been traditionally published in a few different genres since 1990. Stop by my Goodreads profile page or Amazon author page and take a look. So glad to make your acquaintance. Where in SC do you live? I have a couple of author friends who also live in the Palmetto State. Best of luck to you and yours, and happy reading! :-)

I definitely will, thank you! I'm always looking for something new to read! I live in Rock Hill, right on the border of North Carolina. Nice to unofficially meet you as well!

message 3268: by E.Michael (new)

E.Michael Helms Hi again, Erica! Many years ago when I was a young kid I lived in Monroe, NC, which isn't far from Rock Hill. We moved to Panama City, FL (panhandle beach city) where I grew up and lived most of my life. Moved to SC 12 years ago. Love the mountains, but still miss those beaches.
Again, welcome to the group. You'll find many friendly people here, and a ton of good mysteries to read. Best of luck to you and yours,
--Michael

message 3272: by Max (new)

Max Eastern | 2 comments Hi, I'm a mystery and crime fiction reader of many years. I've especially enjoyed Raymond Chandler, Len Deighton, Ross Macdonald, Alexandre Dumas. And George Orwell--could we stretch far enough and call him suspense fiction?

I just finished "Laura," by Vera Caspary.

I wrote a novel myself. It won the Kindle Scout competition. It's called "The Gods Who Walk Among Us," about a failed lawyer turned paparazzi who gets in over his head.

I look forward to participating in this group.

message 3273: by E.Michael (new)

E.Michael Helms Hi Max, and congratulations on the book! Ross Macdonald is my favorite mystery writer; really enjoy his Lew Archer books. Chandler is up there, too, in my opinion.
I write a mystery series set along the coastal Florida panhandle. My P.I. is a retired U.S. Marine. Southern gentleman (so he believes), good sense of humor, but he can get down and dirty if the situation calls for it.
Welcome to the group. Lots of fine people here with helpful suggestions.
--Michael

Hank Early | 2 comments Hey all, I'm Hank and I enjoy reading and writing crime. On the reading side, my two favorite authors are James Lee Burke and Megan Abbott. I also love a lot of writers who straddle the genre fence like Tom Franklin, William Gay, and Larry Brown.

As for the writing, I've got a book coming out from Crooked Lane Books in November called Heaven's Crooked Finger. It's set in the north Georgia mountains and the mystery centers around a rural church and the cult-like grip its snake handling preacher has on his congregation and the surrounding community.

Looking forward to poking around.

Kathleen Saville Hello all, I'm Kathleen and love reading crime fiction which I order on the Kindle from my place in Cairo, Egypt. My book which came out last month is of the memoir genre but my favorite go-to genre is crime fiction. Favorite authors are Henning Markell, Colin Cotterill, Tana French, Robert Wilson, Matt Rees. All are set in places in the world I've been except for Mankell's Sweden. Looking forward to hearing about new author's I've yet to discover.

message 3284: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (ashezbookz) I'm newish to the thriller genre, mostly read YA or super adult romance. I normally read thriller romance when I take the thriller route - but I recently read Rachel's book One Way Ticket and now I feel I need to branch out more because I was seriously obsessed with it, guess my thrillers dont need romance. Can't wait to find more books.

R.J. McMillen (dreamerblue) | 2 comments Hi. I am both a crazy mystery reader and a mystery writer. I split my time between Vancouver Island, B.C. and Jalisco, Mexico and in both places my book shelves are crammed with Robert Parker, John Sandford, Lee Child, David Baldacci, Harlan Coban, Michael Connelly - although there's also a few Science Fiction/Fantasy novels lurking in the rows as well as a few literary novels. When I'm not reading, I am writing. I am the author of the Dan Connor mystery series which is set off the coast of British Columbia, an area I have sailed for over 30 years and I am delighted to be able to say that the latest - Green River Falling - has been nominated for an Arthur Ellis award.

Congrats on the Arthur Ellis nod!

Caro Soles (carosoles) | 3 comments Just arrived here, after much frustration with this site! Anyway, I love to read mysteries, lit fic, and just about anything else that catches my fancy. But I also write, so that cuts into my reading time. I do belong to a book club made up of Latin American women who all read voraciously and discuss the books passionately. It seems more passionate because it's in Spanish. Right now we are reading Eleven Minutes by Paulo Coelho, in whatever language suits. My new book, my first historical mystery, is out as an ebook now and in print in May.
