Hi, Harper, and welcome! If you love mysteries, I have some great recommendations I can make:

I definitely recommend One Green Bottle by Curtis Bausse, but there are several good ones (including mine) located here: http://www.meiziuspublishing.com/myst...

Nick Rippington (nick_rippington) | 6 comments Hi, quick hello. I love thrillers, suspense and mystery fiction. I particularly like a good twist that makes you go "What the..?" I've just published my debut novel Crossing The Whitewash, about gangland London colliding with rugby-mad Wales during the World Cup. I hope I've incorporated a few "What the..." moments in there... My favourite book of all time is "A Kiss Before Dying" by Ira Levin. In my day job I work for a national newspaper in London...

Hi Alex. The genre you like are very interesting. Hoping to chat to you more about them in the group. I mean, I have read a couple of fiction books based on true crime, but what would be examples of actual (non fiction) true crime books? I should like to try one.

One of my favorite true crime books is Buried Dreams: Inside the Mind of a Serial Killer. It's about John Wayne Gacy.
I just find serial killers and psychopaths extremely interesting. I'm assuming a lot of people in this group do too, considering the genre of books we are discussing. :)

message 2964: by Janet (new)

Janet Stokes | 485 comments Very true, Alex. I loved Dexter. But I don't find serial killers as interesting as normal murder mysteries because people usually kill because of personal reasons.

message 2965: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) | 29 comments I love reading true crime books. But mainly to see how the police went to catch the killer. I think the reason many people are fans of detective and mystery stories is because of the sense of justice being done. The protagonist is usually a hero (or antihero) and he is on a quest for justice and the truth.

One of the reasons I love Mulder on the X-Files.

message 2966: by Janet (new)

Janet Stokes | 485 comments X-Files was not your typical murder mystery, right? They were supernatural mysteries. I never took to the series. I must try watching one and see how I like it.

message 2967: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) | 29 comments They ran the gamut from the monster of the week to UFO and alien abduction. The creator was inspired by the old Night Stalker series starring Darin McGavin

Johnny Moreno | 1 comments Hi all - Been a member of Goodreads for a while, but have not been very active on the site for a while. I've been reading like a mad man for the past year or so, which prompted me to start using Goodreads again for tracking purposes. I sometimes find myself searching for books and not knowing what to read, so it would be nice to get recommendations and perhaps read books in a group to discuss (actually, I would love to do that!). I love mystery/thrillers/historical fiction and non-fiction and anything interesting. Looking forward to interacting with the group!

David L Wallace (davidlwallace) | 7 comments Hi, gang. I’m hooked on mystery thrillers and I’ve been that way for most of my life. It’s great to join a team of likeminded people. A little about myself…

I live in Central Florida and I’m a father of three and grandfather of two. Before I decided to pen my first piece of professional writing, I’d worked over twenty years as an information technology professional. While on active duty in the US Navy, an instructor removed the cover off of one of the computing systems in our lab, and I noticed the tiny CPU chips, the brains of the machines were all manufactured offshore somewhere. This made me nervous and led me to question the feasibility of rogue logic being manufactured inside the computer hardware itself, which could be detonated at a predetermined time, incapacitating our defense capabilities. After many data breaches worldwide and unable to contain myself any longer, I decided to start crafting mystery thrillers in the fashion that I love, delving into the world in which highly intelligent people have decided to use their technology smarts to wreak havoc on the world.

I’m looking forward to participating in your next group read / discussion…

T. (tblakebraddy) | 3 comments Hi there! I've been a lurker in this group for a while, but now I want to become more involved. I've started reading the January book -- with only five days left in the month! -- and plan on contributing to conversations, discussions, and group chats. Hints on how to be a good group member are welcome.

In other areas of my life, I'm an avid runner, and I even make pimento cheese for a Nashville-based company. I'm an author of two southern mysteries -- Boogie House and The Devil Came Calling, if you're interested!

I look forward to speaking with you all about the darker side of crime fiction.

message 2997: by Elise (new)

Elise Noble (elisenoble) | 2 comments Hi everyone!

I'm Elise and I'm a readaholic. Romance is my favourite genre, followed by thrillers/suspense. I was brought up on a diet of Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys, and I’ve loved books ever since.

When I'm not reading, I also write (romantic suspense, what else?) and when I'm not glued to my kindle or my computer, I enjoy riding my horse, walking my dog, scuba diving and wakeboarding. Sometimes I even have time to fit in my day job!

Great to be here, and I hope to find some new books to read :)

Ginny Lange Hi from flyover country. I'm new to goodreads this week and have been having a difficult time navigating the site on my iPad app. By accident I finally figured out that it works much better just using my browser. At any rate I'm looking very fwd to meeting fellow readers and lovers of mysteries and crime novels. I need some new authors, have run out of books published by my favorites who include Michael connally, Anne perry, m.c. Beaton, John Sandford, and Nelson DeMille. This seems like a great site and I'm really surprised I am just discovering it now.
