Hi everyone, I'm Simay from Istanbul Turkey. My favourite author is Ahmet Umit who is the one of the best author of Turkey. I'm glad I found this group. :)
Hi, I'm John and I released my first crime thriller book a few days ago. I definitely love reading thrillers with everything ranging from spy novels such as those written by Trevanian and Ian Fleming to techno-thrillers written by Tom Clancy. Great to see you all!
Hi, I'm Marion and I'm totally addicted to crime/mystery/suspense novels. I practically inhale them. My favorite authors are: Elizabeth Adler, Tami Hoag, Joy Fielding, Lisa Gardner, Karin Slaughter, Alex Kava,David Baldacci, Robert Crais, Dennis Lehane, Linda Howard, Sandra Brown, and so many others I can't list, it would take up an entire page.Anyway, I just finished reading "Killing Lessons". It was so well written and suspenseful. Loved it.
John wrote: "Hi, I'm John and I released my first crime thriller book a few days ago. Welcome and congrats on releasing your first crime thriller book. I'll have to check it out.
I am also an author with my first mystery being released in November.
Marion wrote: "Hi, I'm Marion and I'm totally addicted to crime/mystery/suspense novels. I practically inhale them. I'm already making connections.
Hello! Chelsea here- lover of all things mysterious and thrilling. Looking forward to new recommendations and discussion!
Hi I'm E.P. interested in learning more about what crime/ mystery novels everyone is reading. I'll get this out of the way once. I just released a novel that hit #108 on the amazon thriller/crime category over the weekend, which made me feel killer (err... bad pun). Streets of Gold: A War of the Classes
Okay that was it. Other favorite LA crime novels out there?
Hi my name is Douglas Sandler and I am a semi-new indie author with 2 of my 5 books mystery/thrillers and working on my third, which is a sequel to A Kiss Before Strangling. I hope to get advise from other mystery/suspense readers and authors to help me understand what readers want in such a book.I am a fan of Ed McBain's 87th pricent novels and Chandler,Christie Queen books.
Hi everyone! Big fan of mysteries-crime thrillers with a bit of humor thrown in like the Lisa Lutz books such as The Spellman Files and all her other follow up Spellman books. I'm always looking for good books of this type to read--of course finding the time to do so isn't always the easiest but I try my best.
Shameless plug following. I wrote my own mystery-crime thriller with some humorous twists Inediblewhich is very reasonably priced (99 pennies/free!) on Kindle/Kindle Unlimited.
Looking forward to perusing this group, reading the discussions/recommendations and getting to know everyone!

Hi, I'm Tom and I have been a bibliophile for many decades. I usually read about 70 books a year with half fiction and half non-fiction. I have many favorite authors but one who stands out is Thomas H. Cook. I don't just read mystery/thrillers but if the book doesn't include a murder I probably don't choose it! The same holds true with TV, where I lean toward Criminal Minds and NCIS.
Welcome, Tom. You sound like me in that you read general or literary fiction with a crime plot. I, too, find it hard to read crime fiction that are driven only by the plot, with not very good character development or writing. So welcome. You will for in nicely here.
Janet wrote: "Welcome, Tom. You sound like me in that you read general or literary fiction with a crime plot. I, too, find it hard to read crime fiction that are driven only by the plot, with not very good chara..."Agreed but all too often the term "crime fiction" is misleading as many writers like Ken Bruen do a great job with characters and motivation beyond plot.
Greetings! Once again as a former street cop and forensic csi chemist, I find myself in a dark conundrum of joining any group with standards so low as to accept me as a member ... however, I AM an old time John D. MacDonald fan and have every one of his Travis Magee series ... so I hope that gets me in at the back of the line here somewhere since I do have the work experience and reading habits of a mystery and crime thriller buff
I am also currently writing a humorous and character driven police procedural and romance criminal mystery series about a big city, night shift street cop named Patrolman H.O. Beau, aka Mister Hobo ...
I have just published the first ebook "The Chinese Fire Drill" ...

and I'm in final editing of book II "Vagabond Badge"
Thanks for letting me introduce me rookie author self to you all and if a heavily influenced by Cannery Row, Catch 22, and the Deep Blue Goodbye type mystery and crime thriller romance appeals to you all ... then please drop by cup of joe and a world spinning in greased grooves type of chat @CobberBill

Hi all. My name is Dan, I am from the UK. I have only recently taken an interest in mystery and crime novels. I also enjoy sci-fi and fantasy novels. I have just finished The Girl in the Spiders Web and I am currently reading Career of Evil by Robert Galbraith. At some point in the very near future, I plan to begin reading Arthur Conan Doyles stories.
Hello! My name is Tess and a first time author. I've always loved reading mystery and suspense (Dean Koontz is one of my favorite authors!) and recently I've come to love the romance genre. I decided to put my two reading loves together and just released my first book, Dangerous Games. I'm just hoping to connect with others with a love for the mystery and suspense tangled with a little love.
Hi. I'm D.B. Woodling. A writer. My favorite genre is mystery/suspense/thriller, though I have been published in nearly every genre, including nonfiction. Mickey Spillane remains one of my favorite authors (The Mike Hammer Series), and I believe he's influenced my mystery writing somewhat. Mike Connelly and Dean Koontz are other Masters of Suspense I admire. Good to be part of the group.
Hello everyone, My name is Chris Baez, I live in Lakeland, Florida. I joined Goodreads a few days ago, maybe more like a week ago, and I'm having a lot of fun here. I'm also learning quite a bit from a lot of members here. I still need to learn how to navigate the site.I read espionage, police and crime stories, government. I like thrillers, mystery. I also get into end times - Biblical prophecy. I love history and historical fiction as well; and biographies.
I've been reading as a hobby since I was fourteen years old, 60 now (yep, an old man).
Some of my favorite books I read two, three times, or more. Just go back to them a year or two later. I just finished Wish You Well By D. Baldacci for the third time. But I have read The Late Great Planet Earth by Hal Lindsey six or seven times through the years, it was first published in 1970. In 1986 I read the Bible for the first time systematically, from Genesis to Revelation, and have read it seven times to date.
Enough, I talk too darn much. Ask me some questions if I confused you or anyone, or I'll see you around.
Oh, forgot to mention, I like friends, so don't be shy to send me a FR.
Welcome, Chris! I feel the same way about my favourites and also read them again and again. I wouldn't have thought I'd like that, but when you really love a book and the material or characters, why the hell not!
Hi,After wandering 40 years in the desert or to be more precise - 4 months in other groups, it looks like I might've just found the promised land here.
I'm a lawyer, who thought that he could write (in)decent thrillers in his downtime. Only time will tell whether my premise was correct.
So far I have two books out: Rise of an Oligarch (crime thriller/historical fiction), written with a co-author Rise of an Oligarch and Mortal Showdown (international action thriller/adventure) Mortal Showdown.
Looking forward to meeting crime thrillers' fans, fellow authors, nefarious mobsters, brave law enforcement officers (brave mobsters and nefarious officers too) and benevolent people from around the globe.
Friend requests, private messages and bank heist proposals are welcome.
Yours, Nik Krasno

I think we adults have a responsibility to give the young ones the reading bug early on. Once you get someone into the world of books you are hooked for life, like you. It is great to see guys who are readers because the are not as many these days. May you read for another 50 years! ;)

I rather think it is my military background, you know, that gung ho thing they brainwash us with. :-)

I read with my grandsons, the two 9 year old ones (I have three, but the third one is only two years old). I tell them to read what they like. The point is to get them started. I agree, most guys don't read. The membership here in Goodreads is testament of that.
When I was 14 yo, I went to a conference where a young man, only about four or five years older than me, spoke. He spoke so clear and eloquently, I was impressed. After the meeting I asked him how, given his age, he knew how to express himself that way?
He told me I can do it as well, and advised me to read everything I get my hands on, 'out loud'. And I haven't stop reading since. I just don't read out loud.
Janet wrote: May you read for another 50 years!
Well, I just turned 60 this past July 13th. Personally, I'd settle for another 20. :-) ;-)
Thanks Janet
All I buy for almost everybody for Christmas are books. Even for birthdays it is the same. The little ones call me Book Aunty.
Hi, My name's Barbara and I live in Illinois. I enjoy almost all genres, including both contemporary & historical mysteries/thrillers. I'm looking forward to meeting new people and discussing books.
Hi. I'm Sheila. Murder mystery reader and writer. Big fan of Patricia Cornwell and Lisa Jackson. With a background in forensics and law enforcement, I enjoy books that get the details right.
Cool, Sheila! Welcome to the group. It must be frustrating watching or reading a mystery and knowing they've got all the details wrong!
Hello, my name is Alex. Mysteries/thrillers have always been my favorite genre of book to read! I also really enjoy memoirs (especially about mental illness) and true crime books!
I prefer reading over television and I've been a Goodreads "addict" for a while now ;), but this is the first time I've looked into the groups. :)
Welcome Sheila and Barbara, both your reading preferences are right down my alley. I'm looking forward to sharing and learning from both of you, about what you read and write.I'm also new to Goodreads, this is the place to be, it is a fantastic site.
Sheila wrote: "Hi. I'm Sheila. Murder mystery reader and writer. Big fan of Patricia Cornwell and Lisa Jackson. As a Soldier in the Army for nearly 17 years, it drives me crazy when I see military books/movies that have huge inaccuracies. Maybe I should have you read my novel before I publish! ;-)
Hi Aaron. Nice to meet you. I'd be happy to help. BTW-thank you for your service. I'm a Marine Corps brat. I haven't been on a base in 30 years but it's still in the blood. What's your book about?

Barbara wrote: "Hi, My name's Barbara and I live in Illinois. I enjoy almost all genres, including both contemporary & historical mysteries/thrillers. I, too, have recently branched out to literary and general fiction and nowadays I might occasionally read a romance too if it is literary and has a contemporary domestic setting. I used to never touch a book if it was not a mystery or crime fiction.
Welcome.
What other genre do you read?
Sheila wrote: "Hi. I'm Sheila. Murder mystery reader and writer. Big fan of Patricia Cornwell and Lisa Jackson. Come chat, tell us some stories from real life in forensics or law enforcement. :-)

Alex wrote: "Oh and Kirsten, I love the "Dogs welcome - People Tolerated" after your name! I'm also a HUGE dog and cat lover. I groom dogs for a living and I couldn't agree more with that quote."Thank you! No offense, but my dog hates going to the groomer more than going to the vet. LOL!!
Chris wrote: "Sheila wrote: "Chris wrote: "Welcome Sheila and Barbara, both your reading preferences are right down my alley. What's your book about?"My current WIP is about a man that is murdered by a man with no memory in NYC. The victim and "John Doe" both have odd DNA results, and John Doe begins exhibiting strange behavior. A biomedical engineer with a PhD in psychology is brought in to help with the case. She uncovers a conspiracy involving a government contract and a corporation that will do anything to cover their tracks.
I'm always grateful for feedback, so thanks!

The story of Gen. Patton was always of interest to me.
Hi, I'm Harper, and I love mysteries and things like that. I also love to read, and I'm excited to join the group!
Just saying "hi". I'm a writer and reader of supernatural thrillers and all things related. Glad to meet you all.
Harper wrote: "Hi, I'm Harper, and I love mysteries and things like that. I also love to read, and I'm excited to join the group!"Hi, Harper, and welcome! If you love mysteries, I have some great recommendations I can make:
I definitely recommend One Green Bottle by Curtis Bausse, but there are several good ones (including mine) located here: http://www.meiziuspublishing.com/myst...
