My name is Angela and I'm a book-a-holic.

I've had a life-long love affair with thrillers, horror, sci-fi, and fantasy.

I also write short stories and novels.

Kayne Milhomme | 1 comments Hi all,

My name is Kayne. I'm an avid mystery reader, but enjoy other genres as well. I'd say my favorite mystery book/series is anything involving Mary Russell by Laurie King -- and in general I usually enjoy 'gaslamp mysteries'.

I guess that's why I wrote one :) I'm also an author, and recently published a historical mystery novel called 'Grace and Disgrace' that takes place in turn-of-the-century Boston.

message 2857: by Jamie (new)

Jamie Humm Afternoon!

I am a very new member and am a reader and as of a couple of weeks a debut author.

I live in London and enjoy crime fiction; Simon Kernick, Irvine Welsh (elastically crime fiction, I suppose), John Grisham and Mark Billingham are some favourites, John Le Carre an inspiration and Lee Child a guilty pleasure!

Always happy for feedback on my writing and to join in group discussions.

Thanks for having me.

Kevin Marsh | 2 comments Hello everyone,

I'm Kevin from Kent (UK) and I love to read. Since joining Goodreads I have discovered many books that I would never have read. I read from loads of different genres whereas before I was very selective. Goodreads has opened up a world of books to me.
I'm also an author, three books published. I would love to give up the day job and concentrate on writing my books full time but that is a while away yet I'm afraid.
Anyway, just wanted to say hello.

Happy reading all.

Eimear (eimearh) My name is Eimear. I like pretty much any book there is but I have a soft spot for books that can make you cry. Fiction books are my go-to when bored and that's about all you can know about my books and I.

Jessie J. Burton (Jessie_J_Burton) | 1 comments Hello all, first time post on goodreads. I started reading fiction(mostly horror) in grade school then I pretty much stopped all reading and acquired a love for movies instead. Lately I have been an avid nonfiction reader but I am making a switch back to fiction. I enjoy mystery, horror, action/adventure, and scifi the most. Thank you for reading, see you in the threads

Inishowen Cailín (inishowencailin) Hi everyone,
I'm an avid reader from the Inishowen peninsula, Ireland. I enjoy all kinds of mystery books but I particularly enjoy historical mysteries with a little bit of romance. My favourite at the minute is the Sebastian St. Cyr series by C.S. Harris.
I leave reviews, for most books that I've read, on AmazonUK, Goodreads, Librarything and my little blog www.justbooktalk.com
I post a comment on facebook and twitter @inishowencailin when I recommend a good book.

I sent you a friend request, and am reading a book that's been on my TBR for awhile:

Hotel California: The True-Life Adventures of Crosby, Stills, Nash, Young, Mitchell, Taylor, Browne, Ronstadt, Geffen, the Eagles, and Their Many Friends. So far, very interesting (but not stupid).

Annalisa Conti | 12 comments Hi everyone,

My name is Annalisa and I live in New York.
I've always been a passionate and voracious reader of pretty much anything, but Sci-Fi and mystery novels have always been my favorite. My dad has a collection of classic Sci-Fi, my mum has read all Agatha Christie about ten times, so that's where I come from!

I'm also a writer of adventure novels with an introspective intimate touch.

Great to meet all of you!

KW Finch | 73 comments Hi all, my name is Kevin and I'm from the UK. I live just outside London and joined GR earlier in the year.
Just getting back into reading after a long break. Read a lot of sci-fi in my younger days, Ray Bradbury was a fave. Trying some crime fiction now though and quite excited to join this group. Giving J Jackson Bentley a try at the moment.

message 2880: by Patricia (last edited Aug 28, 2015 03:58AM) (new)

Patricia Hi everyone, my name is Patricia. I just joined the group today. My interest in mystery and crime thrillers began when I was a young girl. I loved Nancy Drew. After I finished that series, I started reading my brother's Hardy Boys series. My mother frowned on that interest, telling me I should stick with my 'girly books.'

Soon after I started keeping journals, writing down my experiences which I'd now label as noir.

In middle school, I took a creative writing class and discovered Edgar Allan Poe. I fell in love with his dark tales. My teacher didn't appreciate my stories and poetry and told me I'd never get published writing dark stuff like that [her exact words].

In 2011 I started writing psychological/noir thrillers for fun with no intention of publishing them.

My newest WIP (I intend to publish this one.) used to be a memoir, and I switched it back to what I love writing, psychological/noir thrillers.

Some of my favorite authors: Michael Connelly, Shane Stevens, Jim Johnson.

Some authors I want to read: Dashiell Hammett, Bill Pronzini, Lee Child.

I've read true crime as well.

Jan Hi to all! I was just referred to this group and wanted to introduce myself. Mysteries and thrillers are my true love but I read books from other genres as well. I'd spend my whole day reading if I could, but I haven't figured out how to get life from getting in my way. :)
I look forward to getting to know some of you better through group reads, etc!

Maggie the Muskoka Library Mouse (mcurry1990) Hello everyone! :) My name is Margaret, and I am a recent convert to Mystery novels. I didn't read them for years, but now that I work at a library, I have been expanding my horizons. There are several series I need to read now, and can't wait to start so I can discuss!

message 2888: by Susan (new)

Susan May (susanmaywriter) G'day all,

Thought I'd better drop in and say hello. I'm an Aussie author living all the way over in Perth, Western Australia. I haven't really been so involved with Good Reads until now. I always thought it looked like a huge rabbit hole where you could easily get lost.

However, after exploring it while promoting the upcoming release of my new book Deadly Messengers , I realised what a great place this is. I've now got it all worked out and having fun in the groups and connecting with people all over the place.

I'm quite busy at the moment with the launch, but I will be sure to get back here and hang out once that is over end of September.

I've put my book in your promotions area looking for early readers, so please do ask away for an early copy. It's receiving some wonderful, very humbling reviews.

Take care,

Susan May

Hi Sean, you're over here, too. I didn't know you were a film buff. Me, too. In fact, I'm a media film reviewer. I write for Suspense Magazine in the USA and have a 10 minute spot every week on a local radio station where I talk about films, plus I put my mini reviews up on my website susanmaywriter.com. It's like a dream life. Books and film. I must check out your book. :)

Lisa Alber (lisaalber) | 1 comments Hello!

I've been meaning to find a few Goodreads groups to join. I've been a devoted mystery reader since reading Nancy Drew in grade school. I now write them too. :-)

I write a series set in Ireland that features Detective Sergeant Danny Ahern and American ex-pat Merrit Chase. My debut novel, KILMOON, was nominated for a few "best first" awards. (Very exciting!)

Next year, my second novel, WHISPERS IN THE MIST, comes out from Midnight Ink. I just saw the cover and I love love love it! I might do a cover reveal giveaway -- if so I'll let the people here know about it ... (Not sure where I would add that thread though.)

Right now I'm reading Lori Roy's latest. If you haven't read her novels yet, she's a fantastic writer and storyteller.

Thanks! Lisa

message 2897: by Nick (new)

Nick Tingley | 9 comments Hi all. My name is Nick and I have been avidly reading crime and thriller stories for years. I haven't been on Goodreads long, but since I've been here I have been encouraged to look into the Jack Reacher books (which was something that I shied away from for reasons I'm not entirely sure of...)

I haven't started any of them yet (my TBR list is pretty big at the moment) but I'm hoping looking in to some of these works will help with my own writing.

I'm glad I found this group so early on in my Goodreads experience. If anyone has any recommendations to add to my TBR list, I'd be grateful for any new editions to add to my bookshelf...
