C. Lewis (goodreadscomcmacklewis) | 16 comments Hello! I am in Phoenix, Arizona and I love a good story. I'm currently reading 'Skinny Dip' by Carl Hiaasen.

Kathy | -19 comments Hi! I honestly cannot remember if I introduced myself or not. I'm fairly new to this site, and am losing track of all of the clubs that I've joined.

I love, love, love to read! I'll read just about anything except for icky romance novels.

I'm currently reading "The Miniaturist", by Jessie Burton. I'm about halfway through the book, and am enjoying it greatly. It has kept me interested in that you have to make guesses about why people are acting a certain way, and doing certain things. That's good in a book, but not in everyday life.

I just finished Tana French's "Broken Harbor". Very good murder mystery. One of the few I've read, in awhile, where I could not guess the ending. I hope she keeps writing.

I just downloaded "Strange Devices of the Sun and Moon", by Lisa Goldstein. I've heard some good reviews of this book, and wanted to give it try.

Martha | 4 comments Hello all,
I'm Martha from Florida. I love mysteries, especially "whodunits," but I also read a lot of cozies, PIs, and police procedurals. I also like history, fantasy, and knitting books (knitting is my first passion). In fact I'll read almost anything except romance.
I own a kindle and nook, but will also read hardback and paperback books or listen book on audio (I love to listen while I knit). So its not unusually for me to read (or listen) to more than one book at a time.

I look forward to being in the group.

Terry Hello Fellow bibliophiles, This looks like a great book group. Lively & fun, just what I'm looking for. I'm Terry, I live in Pennsylvania, via many other places having been an army brat, then I married a career army man & my vagabond life continued. I live with my husband, 4 dogs, 3 cats, 1 ferret, a varying number of zebra finches & 4 chickens. I can't inhale books fast enough and there's very few genres I don't enjoy; but horror, good mysteries, historical fictions are among my favorites. This is pure coincidence, but my favorite authors are Stephen King, Barbara Kingsolver & Laurie R. King. Lots of Kings in there. :) That's just a few of my faves in case you were worried. So just wanted to say hi & check in. Looking forward to reading along with you all.

Scott Lord Hi Everyone, I am a trial lawyer and a long-time mystery and thriller lover. Favorites include Robert Parker, Scott Turow, Michael Connelly, and Ellis Peters. I always wanted to write a book and finally did. It's called The Logic Bomb. It is is the story of a none too successful lawyer (of course) who gets involved in a plot to steal a new and very powerful computer program. Before long, he is being pursued by by crooks, terrorists, Chinese spies and the U.S. government. It was a lot of fun to write and I hope some of you will find it fun to read.

You might want to try the Cadfael books by Ellis Peters, the pen name for Edith Pargeter. They are captivating not just for the mystery but also for the glimpses of medieval life. Also a great TV series with Derek Jacobi.

message 2709: by Tonya (new)

Tonya Mathis | 75 comments I love Ellis Peters! I enjoyed the Cadfael series so much I ended up buying all of the books and all of the dvds.

Elizabeth Horton-Newton (newliz) | 13 comments Hello all. I am a 61 year old retired social worker who has just published my first book (View From the Sixth Floor:An Oswald Tale)! I have always loved mysteries and crime stories since I was about 7 years old and my father placed his Sherlock Holmes collection in my hands and told me to go for it. I enjoy Linda Fairstein (as a former New Yorker I can relate to the locales), some James Patterson, anything by Ann Rule, and anything related to historical crimes (Jack the Ripper, Lizzie Borden). I'm looking forward to lively discussions!

Kris (My Novelesque Life) (mynovelesquelife) Hi, my name is Kris and I love mysteries (from classics to cozies to thrillers). I am looking forward to discussing good books with everyone.

Hi Elizabeth, Scott Lord here. Your post caught my eye because I'm almost the same age (sixty) and I am a new author, too. My book is called The Logic Bomb and it's in the legal mystery thriller genre. I downloaded your book and started to read it and I already like it. I'll let you know what I think when I've finished it.

Hi and welcome! Is your book about the Kennedy assassination? If so, I would love to read it. I was a young child when he was murdered, but I remember the day very clearly. It's always bothered me, i.e. the scenario of Oswald, so I look for more ideas, and facts.

message 2725: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Horton-Newton (newliz) | 13 comments Hi Kathy. My book speculates that Oswald survived and has been hiding and moving around for years. Or is the character just some nut who THINKS he's Oswald as the government claims. Like you I was a child when the assassination took place, I was 10, and it had an enormous impact on my life. The book is more about Oswald than Kennedy but I like to think I've created a character based on what I've learned about Oswald over the years. I hope you will read it and let me know what you think.

message 2726: by Toby (new)

Toby Hewson (tobyhewson) | 1 comments Greetings all.

I'm primarily a fantasy geek although I'm recently finding some good thrillers and really enjoying them. I always liked Stephen King (although certainly not every book) and his accessible writing style and I guess John Connolly was probably my cross-over author (part supernatural, part thriller) but I have read some David Baldacci that I really like and also the Jack Parlabane novels by Christopher Brookmyre are brilliant. Dark, humourous and exciting.

Anyways, that's all for now - catch you later.

I'm always looking for new contacts and new ideas for books to read and authors to follow.
Thanks.

Komrade Komura | 3 comments Hello. I write crime fiction for criminals, atheists and leftists.

'Forced Entry' is my most read piece. Part 2 is at the editor and Part 3 is half written.

I read here a lot but never post. Will stay that way, mostly.

Thank you to everyone who complains about the stuff they get tired of seeing in stories....it is a great help.

OK...back to the shadows to plan more seditious acts.

Thanks,

message 2740: by Sherry (new)

Sherry (sjdesigns) | 2 comments Welcome, Sally, and all new members. It is fascinating to read your comments and books and authors you enjoy. I tend to write more (for a local magazine) than I comment here. I published a romantic suspense murder mystery last year, The Dordogne Deception, and am working on the second book, Dangerous Duplicity. I'd rather read than write, but enjoy both, and cannot imagine a life without books. I enjoy thrillers, crime, mysteries and historical fiction--all things with a bit of romance. I enjoy supporting new authors, reading their books and doing reviews. Happy New Year, all.

Lisa Hi everyone, I'm Lisa! I love to read and am very excited to be a part of this site! I'm currently reading a couple of different things. I'm a huge fan of Mary Higgins Clark and Laura Childs. I'm caught up on Laura's Tea Shop Mystery series and just finished the second book in the Cackleberry Club series. I'm also starting on Wild. I'm an avid baker, so I read cookbooks like novels! Because I homeschool, I'm also reading some historical fiction with my kiddos, some biographies, and some fun stuff. Our school books include Sign of the Beaver, Brady, the Merlin Chronicles, and The Omnivore Dilemma. My 15-year-old has embarked on The Art of War, so I'm delving into that with him as well. I'm very excited to see what others are interested in and hope to find some new interests myself.

message 2747: by Barry (new)

Barry Cleary (bcleary22) | -32 comments Hello avid readers,

I am Barry and I would like to take a moment and say "hello" to everyone. I love reading this Genre of books along with YA, Horror, and some Sci-Fi/Fantasy. A few of my favorite authors are John Sandford, Jeffery Deaver, James Patterson, William Kent Krueger, Steven James, and John Lutz.

I have read a few new (at least new to me) authors of late and I'm looking for more. Most recently, I have read "My Sister's Grave" by Robert Dugoni, "The Gray and Guilty Sea" by Scott William Carter, and "Gone Girl" by Gillian Flynn. All of which I thoroughly enjoyed.

My pet peeve, when I read (and trust me, I am not a grammatical genius by any means) is consistent grammatical/spelling errors in the finished publication. I do not typically fault the author when I see this, but I feel that the proof readers and Editors should at least notice and correct them. "The Gray and Guilty Sea" was full of errors, but the story was good enough for me to keep on reading. The biggest issue with that is that I spend as much time looking and picking out the errors as I spend trying to engross myself into the story.

Lastly, anyone with any good/great ideas on authors I have yet to read, drop me a note. I have about 8 books in my queue right now awaiting reading, but I am always on the lookout for good reads.

My very best wishes,
