I must admit, I haven't even seen the movie. I should give it another try. I almost always finish books I start, but something else caught my interest and I never went back to it. As much as I love Dennis Lehane, I am sure I will love it. Thanks for the tip!

Helena Greenfield | 61 comments Hey everyone :)

My name is Helena, 22, med student. New to the group. Not new to mystery novels. They are by far the genre I read the most (though I do try and read from a lot of different ones). Currently going through a Michael Connelly phase...trying to read all those books. before that read all the Ian Rankin books. Next I think I'll go for Dennis Lehane - probably try Shutter Island cos I have that at home.

Welcome, Helena. If you're a med student, your leisure reading time must be extremely limited. Sorry to see I wasn't on your reading list with my latest, God's Banker.

Kathryn Johnson (httpgoodreadscomkathrynkjohnson) | 1 comments Just wanted to say, "Hi!" I live in the Washington, DC area and love the energy of thrillers set anywhere in the world. Currently reading Daniel Silva's series about the Israeli art-restorer/spy. Also loving Laurie R. King's series featuring young Mary and a retired Sherlock. Yum! True confessions, yes, I also write. (As Kathryn Johnson but also as Mary Hart Perry.) Looking forward to getting new suggestions from this group for my pleasure reading.

message 2678: by Jamie (new)

Jamie Sheffield (jamiesheffield) | 7 comments Hello,

My name is Jamie Sheffield, and I'm the author of the Tyler Cunningham Adirondack Mysteries. It's a series set in the Adirondack Mountains of Northern New York, featuring an unusual detective who keeps finding his way into the middle of crimes and situations that he has trouble understanding (he's a bit out of the ordinary, and it's been suggested by readers that he is somewhere along the Autistic Spectrum).

I've sold thousands of copies of my books in print and ebook and audio format, have broken into the Amazon top 1000 books overall, and climbed down into the top 100 lists of mysteries from time to time. I have hundreds of reviews on Amazon and Goodreads, with all of my books consistently averaging well above four stars.

My Amazon Page: http://www.amazon.com/Jamie-Sheffield...

I'd love to be a part of a bookclub event of some sort, and hope that we can work together to make it happen. If there's interest in something of this sort, I'd be happy to arrange for a price break for kindle versions of my books, and also to participate in online conversations/meetings.

Please get in touch if you have any questions, or would like to try and make something along these lines work for this group (or some other that you're affiliated with).

Thanks,

Jamie Sheffield

Kelsey (kelsey_danelle) Hello! I'm Kelsey and I live in Ohio. I work a lot of office hours so I am "thrilled" when I have time to get into a good read. I enjoy reading for education and pleasure. I have within the past year come to realize how much I enjoy mysteries. I especially love ones set in colder climates, for some reason. I just need a good plot, likable characters, and a well described setting. Looking forward to some of the choices here!

Kelsey

Kathy | -19 comments Hi, I'm also a newbie. I love good mysteries, detective stories, and historical fiction, but I will read anything! If the story line is good, that's all I ask for. Favorite reads, "The Heart is A Lonely Hunter" and Karen M. Moning's Fever Fae series. I'm currently reading "Gone Girl", and so far, it's very good. I live near Pittsburgh, PA, and since the weather is usually cold, I read a lot!

Tony (tonytodd) Hello,

My name is Tony Todd and I’m a crime writer based in Leeds, UK. My first novel “Broken” has just been published and is available on Amazon in paperback and Kindle. So far it’s going well, but I could do with some positive reviews. If you do get around to reading it, please let me know what you think?

HalcyonDaze | 3 comments Hello everyone - my name is Halcyon and I live in a small cottage near the beach in rural South West Victoria, Australia which I share with my husband and naughty Jack Russell/Rascal dog.
Have a broad range of reading interests but have a particular liking for crime and thriller books from Dexter to Nesbo, Camilleri to Nadel, Mankell to Leon. MacBride to Nesser, Rankin to Sjowall, Wingfield to Dibdin and all points of the compass inbetween.
So hello from me.

Mark Tilbury (marktilbury) | 5 comments Hi,
My name is Mark and I'm in Oxfordshire, UK. I enjoying reading thrillers, mystery and crime novels. I am a big Stephen King fan, have read most of his books and own the majority of films made from the books. When not reading I enjoy playing the guitar and listening to The Rolling Stones, Small Faces, Paul Weller and Bruce Springsteen.
I am in the process of writing a mystery thriller so will be popping back and forth to Goodreads for advice and inspiration.

Carolyn Wilkins (goodreadscomcarolynauthor) | 2 comments My name is Carolyn. I live in Cambridge, MA and I love to read! Some of my favorite authors are: Walter Mosley, Barbara Neely, Sue Grafton and Sara Peretsky.

After years of being a stone-cold mystery junkie, I have finally written a book of my own. Melody for Murder, the first in a series featuring Bertie Bigelow, an African American choir director and amateur sleuth, is coming out with Pen-L Publishing in 2015.

I am really looking forward chatting about books with you!

message 2695: by Cody (new)

Cody (influencer) Hello! I'm Cody, I enjoy reading thrillers with some of my favorites being Lucas Davenport, Jack Reacher, and Mitch Rapp. I'm always looking for suggestions and great authors. If you check my shelves you'll see a chunk of what I've read, a lot of Stephen King and Dean Koontz plus others I've found along the way.

Because of my schedule I only get to read about an hour a day before I go to sleep, sometimes more and sometimes less.

I wish I could remember all of the books I've read so I could put them on my "read" list!

message 2697: by Peter (new)

Peter (teacherman) | 5 comments I'm not a newbie, but I've been working for fifty years and, last January, I had to retire because, despite my students' belief that I had no heart, my heart is full and, regrettably, clogged. So now I am retired, reading so much more, and looking to participate as a group member and, if there's interest, as a friend.

I was a criminal trial lawyer for 25 years, tried over 250 homicides and tons of guns and drugs, then taught middle and high school English for the past ten years. Now I care for about 100 rescue dogs, part time.

I have also completed a further two novels, Tuscany Vase and the sequel, Parallel Tracks. Both have been received well by my friends and I am hoping to upload them on e-books later this year.
