I've just joined the group, so hello. I spend as much time reading as I do writing but find it hard to find a happy balance. I've only recently got into thrillers since discovering and loving Lee Child's books. I love most genres though, providing the writing style is good. look forward to joining in with the group, getting to know the active members here, and hopefully getting some good thriller recommendations.Cheers :o)
Greetings from Chicagoland. Just joined the group when I saw the blurb about Karin Slaughter. Kind of joined by accident but I am sure it will be fine anyway. I started with Nancy Drew like lots of others. Enjoy Agatha Christie, Dorothy Sayers. I've recently started reading Dr. Thorndyke stories after reading about them in Lord Peter books. Dr. Fell and I are getting to be old friends. I also read more up to date folks - Deborah Crombie, Marcia Muller, Robert Crais, John Sandford and others.
I'm a recent retiree from the federal government and am enjoying my free time catching up on my reading, while trying to find a place to retire to cause I can't stay here forever. I need to move to a more temperate climate.
Hi, I am Vicki. I love to read mysteries, fiction, archaelogical-themed fiction. I enjoy novels with historical settings. I can't wait to hear about what everyone is reading!
Hi, I'm Robin Wright and I've written two novels with Maryanne Burkhard under the pen name, B.W. Wrighthard, Ghost Orchid, and A Needle and a Haystack. A Needle and a Haystack is a cozy mystery. Both are available on amazon.com I enjoy reading crime novels of all types. I'm still trying to figure out all this stuff on Goodreads, so please be patient with me!
Hi, I'm Laurie. I used to read voraciously until I started writing my own stuff, so yes, I am an author. I've joined this group because I am looking for good romantic suspense by new authors. By good, I mean with equal parts romance and suspense. I love a book with a good plot and heroines with personality. Looking forward to seeing what you all have read and enjoyed.
Hi,
I'm a fan of books across the mystery-thriller-crime spectrum, though I tend to read more on the lighter side these days (Cussler, du Brul, Child, Baldacci, Rollins, et al) with one or two of the heavier, Nordic noir sorts thrown in only every now and again (Nesbo, Adler-Olsen, et al).

Hi, I'm a fan of all types of books, especially those with good plots and those that really throw you for a loop with the plot. I'm looking forward to sharing my love of books with others that love them too!
I am a big mystery fan and as I was looking for a group, I noticed I had read all four of your books this month so I thought I might fit in here.I am 61, retired and live in N. California.
Leigh wrote: "Hi Lily and Debbie. Great to have new members who love the same reads. Addicted lover of mysteries and psychological thrillers here. Hope to get to know your reads and you guys on the threads. ..."Thanks Leigh! Looking forward to taking part in the discussions. Some of my favorites are Alex Kava, Lisa Gardner, Michael Palmer, Tess Gerritson, Kate Watterson, Debra Webb. Am always open to new authors and can't wait to read everyone's recommendations and reviews!
Leigh wrote: "I love Lisa Gardner and Tess Gerristen, but haven't read the others. You will LOVE our group reads. The group reads and the nominations threads are the best place to find new writers."Michael Palmer wrote medical thrillers. Sadly, he passed away recently. Kate Watterson has a series about Detective Ellie MacIntosh and Debra Webb has the Faces of Evil series. I am also a fan of Alison Gaylin.
Hi Everyone, I love crime novels and don't consider myself morbid in any way, though I do realise that it may not be to everyone's taste.Years ago, I read everything from Patricia Cornwall to Nancy Drew.
There are now so many wonderful authors, out there, producing first class fiction, it is hard to keep up with the everyday trends, it would be my ultimate goal in life to be able to write a crime novel, but it won't be for some time yet, am writing reviews and flash fiction to gain some experience in this genre.

your right to ask, its fiction that is spontaneous, and shorter than a short story., I'm told that its a good way to begin writing and get advice from authors and readers alike.
Hi everyone, I'm a Crime Thriller writer from the north of England. I have just published my third novel on Amazon. I love to read murder mystery, crime thriller and action and adventure genres. I firmly believe, the more words I devour, the better writer I will become.Life has a habit of throwing the unexpected our way; people hurt each other; others pick up the pieces. I never tire of reading or writing about heroes and villains.
I hope to meet many like-minded souls on Goodreads.

I like to be entertained and not have to work too hard on a novel. I am THE beach bum, pulp fiction reader (and writer for that matter.)

Leigh wrote: "I have to find some new "escapism" reads, Robert. Karin Slaughter is pretty good. And I used to read a lot of Michael Connelly, John Grisham, and Harlan Coben.Welcome." Hi Leigh, I also read Connelly and Coben. I understand some of my language may be a little 'English' but Unrest should be okay both sides of the Atlantic xxxx

Thanks for having a look at my work. I hope you enjoy... Robert
Hi all. This is my first go with an online reading group, so i'm excited to see how this works. I pretty much love reading anything that is well written, but especially love mysteries and thrillers. i am always drawn back to them, but feel like so many are just written so poorly. I do love Stephen King - i'm a sucker for him - and currently reading Mr. Mercedes. I loved Gone Girl, and the last truly good thriller/mystery book i read was Under the Skin by Michael Faber. Anyways - like i said - looking forward to reading the recommendations of this group. :)
If you like British authors, have you read Ann Cleeves, CJ Sansom, Ruth Rendell and PD James? I just finished the Colin Dexter series. We did a buddy read on the series in order and it was almost a relief to finish.

Hello. I write crime fiction largely around the production and distribution of cannabis. Just dumped 8 stories free on Wattpad getting ready for three novels to come out of the oven in the next few weeks.
Also write dystopia (see Wattpad).
leftist, atheist, cannabis grower...yep that pretty much covers it.

Hi, I’m Paul. I’m from the UK, Yorkshire in fact, but I live and work in Albania. I’m an author and have some books on goodreads. I like to read travel narratives, suspenseful (but not gory) thrillers, and books that give good food to the soul... Currently enjoying the ‘Tinker, Tailor...’ thread on here.

Thank you Leigh. I know the moors in the region quite well where WH is set, and the Bronte Parsonage is worth a visit in Haworth too... Though I have to confess to likening Jayne Eyre a little more... Looking forwards to contributing. Paul.

Hello. This is my first discussion post on Goodreads (other than voting earlier on the September read). I'm looking forward to greater participation on Goodreads as I get to understand it better. Right now I'm just feeling my way through the various features. My reading interest is mysteries, so I joined this group. I just finished reading Bret Lott's "Dead Low Tide" and I enjoyed it very much.
Jamie Lynn wrote: "Alan, Good Reads is like a treasure hunt. There are so many features to the site. I keep finding new things! Welcome!"Thank you, Jamie. What is your favorite feature?
Hiya, everyone! I'm Rachel aka OddModicum Rachel.. just plain 'odd' works, too. ;) I'm a mad voracious reader of many genres, but love a good gritty mystery and really well written police procedurals, criminal profiling, and forensic detectives. I'm particularly intrigued by ritualistic/religious crime/thrillers, and historical crime/mysteries. Psychological thrillers and books that are particularly lyrical, atmospherically descriptive and emotionally evocative tend to do it for me. I'm newish to GoodReads, only found it in mid May... and am kicking myself repeatedly that I didn't find it sooner! I'm stuck home with health issues, so its soooo much more fun to 'meet' like minded readers and have thought provoking discourse than to sit alone reading with no chance to discuss stuff I loved/hated. I'm all ears for great recommendations of new books and series that are not to be missed... love chatting with my GR friends, and comparing and recommending great reads in kind. Lovely to 'meet' all of you... and look forward to some fabulous reads with the group!
What a lovely introduction, Rachel. You have a way with words. I feel like I already know you a bit. Welcome to our corner of the reading universe.
Thanks so much, Jamie Lynn and Alan! Nice welcoming committee! ;PAnd Alan... its lovely to hear that my stream-of-consciousness ramble didn't send you running. lol I tend to type like the wind, with limited self-edits (pretty much the exact opposite of the way I read, from a critical standpoint), so glad someone understood it.
Alan wrote: "Not only was your message understandable, Rachel, the content was superb."Awww.... thanks so much, Alan! (sniff!) I was just peeking at your profile, and I'm so intrigued by your 2 year course of CSI study... Assuming its not too personal a question, is that something you're pursuing to break into forensic field, or primarily to add realism and deeper understanding to your own work in fiction? I'm one of the multitude of women who became fascinated with forensics/forensic anthro because of Kathy Reichs and her Tempe Brennan character.
