Rick Soper (RickSoper) | -20 comments Hi I'm Rick Soper and I've been a member of this group for quite a while, but I've just released a few books and as far as I can tell there's no where else to say that, so I'll follow the instructions and post them here.

The Stage by Rick Soper

I just released The Stage! It's the third book in my Rock Series of books.
Here is the description:

The air is thick with anticipation in the Monterey Bay area. Fear is flowing through the veins of everyone involved. The plans have formed, the missions implemented, and the chaos has commenced. The mystery has run through two novels and it’s time for the secrets to finally be revealed. As we begin Jake Martin and the Band are getting ready to step on The Stage. The Russians are coordinating their diversionary tactics to make the concert a success, while the hacker Simon is readying an onslaught of programs to reach out and capture the attention of millions. FBI agents Jon Stevens and Max Harris are working with Sheriff Ken Dalton desperately investigating the string of murders, disappearances, and violence that have been terrorizing the area. While Gabriel, who has inflicted his vigilante justice on the rich and powerful, continues his assault on The Group. The balls are in the air, the stories are in motion, and all the questions will be answered, but who will survive to the end… is still uncertain.

The Rock Series (Books 1-3) by Rick Soper

In conjunction with the Stage I've also released a special edition that combines the three novels of The Rock Series into one very long book that you can get at one very small price.
Here is the description:

The Rock Series is the combination of three individual novels, which include The Rock Star, The Singer, and The Stage. With this special edition you can now follow all the various story lines from their beginnings to their conclusions. From Jake Martin saving the rock star Jimi Christian to the point where they step on to The Stage in front of the world. From Aleksei’s initial ‘problem’ with a gun deal, to Mischka joining his crew, to his eventual partnership opportunities. You can watch FBI Agent Jon Stevens come back from the Stoner injury to work with Sheriff Ken Dalton to investigate the horrifying string of murders that assault the Monterey Bay community. You can follow the exploits of the vigilante Gabriel as he dispenses his brand of justice on those who deserve it, all while harassing FBI Agent Max Harris. The Rock Series weaves a web of intrigue that’s filled with a universe of characters that are running through a series of plots, sub-plots, mysteries, and actions that will keep you entertained and guessing from start to finish. And now it’s all been combined in this one special edition with the added bonus of a lengthy list of character descriptions to help you follow along

E.E. Giorgi (eegiorgi) | 11 comments Hi all, I joined Goodreads last month to get ready to launch my detective thriller CHIMERAS and just joined this group because mysteries and thrillers are my thing. I love hard-boiled detective stories and Raymond Chandler is my favorite author in this genre. Any Chandler fan out there? Wave and say hi! :-)

I'm a scientist by day and I'm fascinated by genetics, which is why my main character is a modern Philip Marlowe with a genetic twist.

Terri As a newbie, I'm glad to say hi! But I have probably the stupidest of stupid questions first. I work on an iPad if this makes any difference. On the top right hand of my "Goodreads" page, it alerts me to discussion threads, such as this newbie prompt to introduce myself. I'm only in 3groups but either I'm having no luck keeping them separate or I'm missing an easy top. I was also reading about a woman and her plans for creating her own reader challenge. When I attempted to friend her, she asked me a question (which I still can't figure out how to do) & what was the sourc of the thread she was on, which I couldn't t find! Grgr. If it something I'll get to learn in time, pls let me know but if there are any new tips out there... Please take pity on a newbie :s

Terri As a newbie, I've been asked to make an introduction. First, I hope I right I that this is the new Reader's Paradise group I'm part of. I'm a proud mother of 4 & wife of one from southern Alberta Canada. I'm an eclectic reader: my main preference is a good pshyothriller, I will put aside almost anything for a new book by Jodie Picquolt. Despite her last three books, she tends to write from all perspectives w/ such brilliance, I can't help find myself enthralled. I guess that should cover my intro to this group. According to a friend in this group, this is the most fun & like most of you, I like fun!

Anne (annebruce) Hi everyone. I'm from SW Ontario, Canada and I love to read! I've been using Goodreads for a couple of years now and have discovered so many great books that i'd never heard of. I'm currently reading through the Deborah Crombie series (about to begin book #7) and plan on starting Ann Cleeves' Shetland series next, alternating with some of Barbara Pym 's earlier books that I've just ordered. I love mysteries but enjoy reading other types of books as well. Looking forward to meeting you all!

message 2467: by Anne (new)

Anne (annebruce) Hi E.E. and DianeAlice. E.E., the Barbara Pym books aren't mysteries but look like something I'd enjoy when I'm in the mood for a quiet read. DianeAlice, I read the goodreads book reviews all the time, looking for new authors, and I saw a few series that look interesting, including Susan Hill. Both the Ann Cleeves series look good and it was tough deciding between the two. In the end I probably went with the cover art! I'm sure I'll want to move on to the Vera series when I've finished the Shetlands. I know what you mean about having to wait for an author's latest book. I'm trying to pace myself with the Crombie series, reading different authors after every couple of Crombie books.

Overton Scott | 8 comments Hello there,

I just joined the group a few days ago and thought I'd say hi to everyone. I've been hooked on mysteries since I found a set of Agatha Christie's books in my grandmother's bookcase, over forty years ago. Love a good thriller or mystery. Lucky enough to have written some myself. Looking forward to finding some new authors to enjoy and sharing opinions with other bookworms.

Ellen Behrens | -1 comments Thought I'd say hi -- newbie of a few weeks, but reader for many decades! I read a wide range of fiction but have been reading a lot more mystery since I decided to shift from writing literary fiction to a quasi-cozy mystery series. I enjoy Nevada Barr (we travel extensively, so reading about places we visit is always fun), Carl Hiaasen (not a mystery writer, but what a narrative voice!), Michael Connelly, and a variety of cozy mysteries (especially Jim and Joyce Lavene). Am seeing many titles already I need to add to my "want to read" list!

message 2485: by AerinLuvs (new)

AerinLuvs (anniluvs) | 4 comments Hi, I'm a newbie to this group. I began reading mysteries with Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys and then got into Agatha Christie which I read all of by age 15 or so, then kept on going with Ed McBain and other writers. Now I mostly read Romance, but like romantic suspense alot. I still delve into regular mystery/suspense/thrillers. I am considering some audiobook mysteries (the Jason Bourne series etc) but some of the unabridged ones are too long. I also have ADD with reading so if I get to a slow part I'll start another book and then come back to the other book another time (or not at all).

message 2486: by Francis (new)

Francis (goodreadscomFrancisHoward) | 2 comments Hi Everyone,
I'm retired and live near the beach in Sydney. I write crime novels and have my first one published on e-book, you can see my profile on Goodreads. Where I live is quiet and conducive to creative writing. I am attempting to have my second novel published at the same time putting to bed the sequel. Between novel writing, when I sometimes find it a bit tedious I knock out short stories which I find gets the creative juices flowing.
For reading I am absorbed in two new novel by Chris Pavone, The Expats and the accident.

B.R. Bentley (brbentley) Hi: I'm a Canadian author who has written a fictional novel (The Cross) based on a real (still unsolved) crime which occurred in Bermuda. I lived on the island for some time and thought that the crime, which was investigated by Interpol, the FBI, Scotland Yard and local authorities, would make a great novel or movie. Look forward to receiving any comments from readers who may find the topic interesting. Thanks B.R. Bentley

Pamela Mclaren | 193 comments I guess I am the newest newly to this club and hope to learn about new authors. I am an avid reader, mostly of mysteries, but have expanded my reads thanks to a university book club that I belong to. I also work in public relations for said university, so am always interested in books about university life.

Since joining Goodreads, I find myself reading an ever wider range of books from Australia's Kerry Greenwood to Spanish authors Matilde Asensi, Rudolfo Anaya and Arturo Perez-Reverte. I consider myself fairly open-minded when it comes to reading from biography, history to all kinds of fiction, but after reading Anne Rice, I'm less interested in the modern take on the genre; and spare me from most books considered 'chick lit' and that is not because I'm prejudiced, I just am not interested. And once was enough with Jodi Picoult ....

The book club I belong to chose Picoult's "Nineteen Minutes," about a school shooting. Right off the bat I was put off because the main character is a judge whose daughter went to the school and knew the shooter and her immediate thought wasn't about her daughter or the young man, but about the opportunity to serve as the judge on the case. She never really connected with her daughter's feelings, not the other family and then she gets into an affair with the investigating police officer. It just seemed so contrived and over the top. I hated the character and thought it was really a poor writing of a story that was multilayered. It was hard to finish the thing because I kept wanting to throw the book against a wall.

The first Picoult book I read was Salem Falls, a tale rooted in the idea of the Salem Witch Trials but set in the present day and focusing on a whole different type of witch hunt. I've read several of Picoult's books over the years, but that first one has always stayed with me. The most recent one I read, The Storyteller, was riveting in places, but a hard read with large sections set during the holocaust. She certainly doesn't shy away from controversial topics!

I am Elizabeth who has been in Goodreads for a long time now. I love many genres but have a special love for Scandinavian mysteries.
I just finished reading "Until Tuesday" about the Wounded Warrior Program and the dogs who make the lives of injured soldiers possible. This was probably the most meaningful book I have ever read.

I live in the Northwest in the rain rain rain. Plenty of time to read.

I work as a landscape gardener part time.

Live in a cabin on a lake (lucky me)

Always on the lookout for new mysteries!
