Hi This is Aditya from Kolkata & welcome to the group.I too enjoy Dan Brown but have not read the other books you mentioned.A good place for book suggestions would be the group reads thread.
I would personally suggest Dennis Lehane a great writer in the genre. You can start off with Shutter Island. You might want to check out Michael Connelly's books too, heard a lot of good things about them though I am yet to read them personally.

I'm 73, retired, and live in Oregon. Have lived here, with my wife of 36+ years, since 1971. Before that, we both lived in Iowa, having both been born there. We left Iowa heading west and ended up in Eugene, OR. People often ask me "How did you get to Oregon?" My pat answer has always been, "In a blue 1965 Dodge." We soon fell in love with Oregon, although, it took some time to get used to the rainy winters and spring. More so for her than for me. But, now it is home. Our daughter has never known any home other than the one we've lived in for 28+ years. She, my daughter, now lives in Sherwood with her husband and our 2 lovely granddaughters. To them, I'm known as Papa. And, my wife is Nana. Names we dearly love. As we love our granddaughters.
I do not remember how long I've been addicted to books. I can remember going to the library as a child and bringing home a stack of books. Don't remember Mom having to take me, but do remember going their by myself on my bike. Also, remember Mom suggesting I bring home less books at a time as she was afraid of me falling from my bike due to the load. I do not remember that working.
My daughter, also, remembers being taken to the library at an early age. When she was a pre-teen, one of the librarians called her, "Our best customer." An adulation I'm sure I found more enjoyment in than my daughter did.
I feel as though I've already established a legacy, of a sorts. Through my love of books, as well as my wife's love of books, our daughter has a love of books. And, she has passed on that to her daughters. Both she and us have taken both our granddaughters to the library on several occasions. The youngest granddaughter can sit for hours with a pile of books on the living room floor. Either at her own home, or, at our home. The other loves books, as well, but, she can't sit still as long as her sister.
Discovered this site a couple of years ago. Discovered these discussion threads, just a couple of months ago. As you can see by now, I also have a love of chatting about books, how I like them, how they effect my life and what I like to read. My main interest these days, are suspense thrillers and crime novels.
My favorite authors include

Yeah same as the movie which I loved.Other books of his has also be turned into films like Gone Baby Gone (which was good) & Mystic River(which I could not get into). Hope you enjoy them, will check out Bourne series when I get the time.I liked the movie trilogy specially the 3rd one Bourne Ultimatum.

I'm a reader, a newbie at blogging and I read all kinds of genres of books. It doesn't matter how mainstream vampires or fallen angels are, as long as the author's a good writer, I will read every word of every page in it. I don't like to read a book and not finish it. By the way, I'm Asian. Specifically, I'm from Philippines. :D

Hi everyone! Good evening from the Philippines. I'm Issa Bacsa, a work at home mom and freelance writer. I joined GoodReads and this group months ago, but haven't participated in any discussion (sorry!). I prefer reading mystery/crime/suspense/thrillers and two months ago I published an e-book, a mystery thriller. I need to catch up on my reading, too! (so many books, so little time).

I like cats, but have only seen one mystery writer who does cats justice: Marian Babson.

Jenni -
Hope I am replying to the right. Message. Kinda hard to type on my phone but I just had to jump in here and say I am also a animal lover. One of my favorite Mystery Series is "The Cat Who". I read these "cozy mysteries" after a "thriller". Looking forward to chatting with you all.

Dude, taga-Pilipinas rin ako :D

As a child I read through the library's kids section, hovered around the front door for the mobile book van, and nudged my parents to move the family to a new town with a fresh book collection. Oh those torrid days before Amazon and Kindle:)
Now I'm an avid mystery and thriller reader. I generally go for the contemporary but can be lured into historical and an international locale captures my interest easily.
I also write - my debut mystery thriller is Tunnels, Cappuccino, And A Heist set in St. Louis, Paris, and Cairo.
Great to be part of the group!
Cheers, Michele

I read more mysteries than thrillers and I read widely across almost all genres. I especially like books that make me laugh and that have light notes in them instead of just dark through and through. (Those are great too but I find I can make myself depressed without any help!)

Most of my experience with mystery is either with the more classic authors, like Agatha Christie, Edogawa Rampo, Arthur Conan Doyle, and Edgar Allen Poe, for example; or some of the newer writers like Robert Ludlum, John Grisham and Yonezawa Honobu . I have found I especially like the authors who combine history and mystery together, such as Josephine Tey and Simon Schama.
This seemed like a nice group and a good place to find future reading recommendations. It is nice to meet you all. :)

Have you read the Crowner John series by Bernard Knight? He provides the reader with marvellous descriptions of medieval life.

introduce myself. My name is Carol, 67 years and have been reading 62 of them. I am curious about the demographics of the group-how many members, where do they live and their ages. I presently live between Kentucky and Florida but I grew up in Philadelphia Pa and the north east has never left me. I love mysteries of all kinds and I get ideas of what to read next from several different book clubs here on Goodreads. I have large tbr pile and Shutter Island and Rules of Prey are near the top.

I adore books and will read almost anything although in recent years I have read more crime fiction than any other genre. My favourites include Reginald Hill, Peter Robinson, Peter Lovesey, P.D. James and Jacqueline Winspear. I also love Golden Age crime, John Dickson Carr and R. Austin Freeman.
I am very much looking forward to making some new friends and for my TBR list to grow.

I love- Mystery, fantasy, adventure, horror, basically, ANY BOOK XD
I hate with all my heart- Stupid, senseless, lifeless, romance, which is so common these days
I weep every time my favourite character falls in love.

I'm Gail and I love reading forensic crime thrillers. Kathy Reichs and Patricia Cornwell especially. I like James Pattersons books as well. I've read a few of the Alex Cross books and I really enjoyed the Women's Murder Club series, although I was puzzled when they didn't mention the WMC after book 2(strange).
I write supernatural thrillers (NOT vampires or zombies) and am currently writing the third in a trilogy. I won't read romance novels because they are so... meh! And my cat has just had 6 cute kittens (aww).
It's good to be here and after reading quite a few threads, I know I'm in good company.

Robert B. Parker is a must. He has three heroes: Spenser, Jesse Stone, and Sunny Randall. Be careful to read the books actually written by him. His widow chose writers to continue the storylines for Spenser and Jesse Stone, but neither is even close to the original.
Craig Johnson is also great. He writes a series with a hero named Walt Longmire, a modern-day Wyoming sheriff.
Enjoy!

My name is Patricia Dusenbury, I'm a grandmother and an economist who has loved reading mysteries ever since I cracked my first Nancy Drew back in the day. I've posted a couple times on other discussions and just noticed this introduction thread.
