Welcome to MCT, Lade! It sounds like you enjoy reading a wide variety of books. I think you will find many recommendations here at MCT and lots of great reading buddies, too. We are very glad to have you as a new member.

Welcome to the group, Amr! I am very pleased to welcome you to the group. Oh, Jane Eyre, one of my favorite books! Isn't is just wonderful? You might like Rebecca. It takes about 60 pages to get into it, but then you actually cannot put the book down. Fantastic classic that is a mystery, too.
I look forward to discussing books with you.

Yeah, so amazing; still got 3 more chapters to finish it, can't wait for the ending! Sounds interesting, I haven't read a mystery before so I hope it'll be a good start :)
Yeah, sure any time just tell me...Can we disuss Jane Eyre too aftet I finish it ?!

Oh, thanks Jac :) And I'm looking forward to discussing what I read.

Of course. ; )

I'm 22 and living in Colorado. I'm originally from Michigan but moved to California last year and moved here a few months ago. Crime thrillers are my favorite kind of story. I like being mentally engaged when reading a book. The more I think about the story outside of reading it the better it is. I just finished reading And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie. Anyone who hasn't read that book SHOULD. I was wrong the whole time about who the killer was; that doesn't happen very often.

The story: A rogue CIA agent teams up with a female emergency trauma surgeon to solve her best friend's murder. With help from the Jesuits, they quickly discover that the murdered doctor was about to solve the 500 year-old mystery of the Knights of Malta, a secret that is coded into a series of Caravaggio paintings.
On the last day of their surgical residency, Dr. Genevieve Neugold meets Dr. Riley McKee's steaming hot guy-friend, Jake Bolton, on the Connecticut General Hospital Sky Bridge. A sniper's bullet pierces the glass, killing Riley. Jake assumes that the bullet was meant for him. But he and Genevieve team up to learn that Riley's art history background and a penchant for puzzles made her the real target. They quickly set out following Riley's clues that lead them through the world of medicine, art and religion and through the U.S.A., Ireland and Italy searching for secrets hidden in Caravaggio masterpieces, Shakespeare and the Vatican.
Bio: Rod Level, M.D. is the pen name for a practicing Endovascular Surgeon from Hartford, CT and has been a Top Doctor in America for 10 consecutive years. He graduated from the College of the Holy Cross, where he majored in English/ Pre-Med before becoming Valedictorian at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine.
Dr. Level's great, great aunt was Mark Twain’s gardener. That famous American writer gave her many of his personal belongings, including his famed rocking chair. The pseudonym Rod Level echoes the phrase that would follow “mark, twain” in the riverboat calls so familiar to the young Samuel Clemens. Dr. Level spent his own youth carrying the pole for a land surveyor. The engineer would look through the theodolite and yell “ROD” and he would yell back “LEVEL” to confirm the position. Rod Level, M.D.

Welcome, Molly! Glad you liked Agatha Christie's book. : )

Great to connect with all you. This is a great forum that I recently discovered.
Thanks,
Ravi.

Besides reading some of my other interests include rugby and writing - particularly writing about rugby. Which I used to do for the Auckland Rugby Union.
Anyway can't wait to get chatting with everyone :-)

Hi Archana,
Welcome to the forum. I recently published a woman based crime thriller that is set in Delhi. I am eager to hear feedback from fiction aficionados such as yourself.

I mostly write sci-fi and present-day fiction riddled with hi-tech toys and technologies that have a mind-blowing impact on individuals trying to survive Present Shock. That said, I read a lot in various genres, especially this one.
So if you have some sample chapters posted on Goodreads you'd like me to check out and review, let me know. Similarly, you can check out samples of my work posted here as well.

Welcome to the group, Ravi.

Welcome to MCT, Gemma!

Hi, Archana. Welcome to MCT.

Right now I'm primarily looking for solid police procedurals. Note: I find Lawrence Sanders just about unreadable (expository prose, info dumps, etc.). Any recommendations?

I am new to the group and pleased to join you. I've loved mysteries ever since I read my first Nancy Drew ("Sign of the Twisted Candles") and I'm a big fan of thrillers as well (I think "The Bourne Identity" was my first taste there). I'm Irish-American, now residing in Vermont where I grew up after living in Boston for a while, and I worked for many years in the global health field. Right now I'm a bartender, and--I absolutely swear not to witter on about this--the author of a mystery/suspense novel. Looking forward to the discussions. I've got a few questions about a really old series I've been reading through, but I think I'll just sit and listen quietly to all of your for a while first.

My name is Sue and I live in Toronto and work from home. I enjoy reading mystery, suspense, crime thrillers. I have read the Bosch series, which were great. I have Ian Rankin's book "Standing in Another Man's Grave" to read as well as Joseph Finders' books. I also like Jenny Hilborne's novels, (Murder & Madness, Hide & Seek, No Alibi).I also like Robert Dugoni (Murder One),Lars Kepler (The Hypnotist). So many books to read.

You're right, so many books to read - but thanks for your suggestions, I haven't read any of the last three authors you mention so I shall have to look out for them.

I also read from other genres, but mystery, suspense, crime, and psychological thrillers are my favourite.

I've been a member of Goodreads since 2010 and don't remember when I joined this group, but it made sense since I love reading books under this genre. I was just responding to Mel, for recommendations for new books to read. So I'm not a newbie. Sorry for disturbing the thread.

My name is Michelle, I am 39 yrs old and live in Scotland with my husband and two kids.
I work part time as I am currently on dialysis awaiting a kidney transplant, on the upside dialysis gives me plenty of time to indulge my reading :-)
I like most genres of books but mystery, thriller/crime novels are my favourite.
I am currently working my way through all of James Patterson's books, reading NYPD Red at the moment.
Happy reading everyone!

Welcome! You will find tons of suggestions here. Will keep my fingers crossed that you receive your transplant soon. Wishing you all the best!

Thank you very much!

Hi Scarlett, sorry to hear the program didn't meet your expectations. Just wondered whether you had read any of Katherine Ramsland's books? I'm reading 'The Forensic Psychology of Criminal Minds' at the moment (for novel research) but she has written many other books on the subject and is also a fabulous speaker.
