Try The First Secret of Edwin Hoff by A.B. Bourne. It's not cosy. A.B. Bourne is like Daniel Silva in a dress. Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Vic
I recently joined the group and appreciate Jenni's response to my question of how the group works.I do love mystery/crime/thriller books. Some of my favorite authors are William Kent Krueger, Michael Connelly, Ben Coes, David Baldacci, Vince Flynn, Brad Meltzer, James Grippando. A fairly new author to me is Jim Moore (Election Day). I also have been reading some of the scandanavian authors such as Jo Nesbo and Helene Tursten.
I look forward to reading the posts in this group and getting to know more lovers of this genre.
Well we have added quite a few people over the weekend. Welcome to all the new members and I hope everyone had a lovely, relaxing, book-filled weekend.

I don't dare to read a Mystery in english and so I miss a lot of chance to read good books. Who knows, once good ones translated in italian will finish, I'll try to read in english.

So I didn't follow his other works...but I'll get back to him. One day.
I've heard wonderful things about Rankin's "Black and Blue" and we do have it in our library. I think that's what I'm going to read next.
Thanks for the suggestions :)

Welcome to the group Evon! I'm sure you shouldn't have any trouble at all finding new reads! TBR BEWARE!!
Hi, my name is Linda and I'm a serial killer. Ha! Thought that would get your attention.... I live and read in a very small town just northeast of Seattle, called Duvall. I'm a pretty much non-stop reader who gets books from the library that I absolutely have to read right now and buys books that can wait for a while. The "for a whiles" are occupying two floor-to-cleaning bookcases, four small 3-shelvers and a huge part of the carpet next to my sofa. I read almost anything - especially if my attention is grabbed and I tend to "binge" read - I'll get stuck on one subject for awhile and run through lots of books. Last binge was Richard III since his skeleton was found. Favorite detective/mystery series is one I'll bet most people haven't heard of - the Inspector Ghote series, practically endless which is part of their charm - by H. R. F. Keating. Looking forward to lots of new books and lots of new friends!
Welcome Linda...I'm certainly glad we're on opposite ends of the country ;-) It's a pleasure to have you join us!
Hi, I'm a writer. I love anything written by Jane Austen or Agatha Christie. My writing is heavily influenced by these two great ladies. My first book, MOCHA, MOONLIGHT,AND MURDER was released on April 14th.
Maryann wrote: "If anyone is interested in a free copy of my book, to read and review, just let me know."Maryann - I love to review books and have done several for Goodreads writers. I'd love to read yours if I can get it in PDF or print. I don't have an e-reader and don't really plan to get one because my attention span for reading online is nil.
Let me know!
Shannon wrote: "Hey All my name is Shannon I am big reader of Mystery & Supsence. Thanks for inviting me"Good to have you Shannon!
Hi, I'm Nicholas and I am a reader of the Inspector Rebus series, Sherlock Holmes and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series. Having enjoyed/currently enjoying these titles, I felt it was probably appropriate for me to expand my horizons and read some more crime/mystery thrillers, seeing as I seem to have picked up quite a liking for them.
Thank you. I have not heard of these authors, so this is already a good start. I look forward to growing my interest in this type of fiction.

In the past I have loved Peter Lovesey, Reginald Hill, Peter Robinson, David Hewson, John Dickson Carr and Dorothy L. Sayers - so quite a wide range. I will give almost anything a go but I'm not in the mood for a cosy.
Please help - I look forward to hearing from you.
