Hi all! I'm Donna from northwest UK and I'm a book addict! My absolute favourite author is Karin Slaughter followed by Chris Carter, Simon Beckett, Jillianne Hoffman and many other crime and thriller authors. I read before work, at lunch, while I'm cooking dinner and before I go to sleep.. Nice to see I'm not the only one who loves to read as much as me!
Hi again. Realised that I'd actually not introduced myself properly, so I thought I'd just drop in to do just that. I'm Judith .......Jed comes from my 3 initials and it's what I tend to use when I'm logging on .
Donna wrote: "Hi all! I'm Donna from northwest UK and I'm a book addict! Like you I have my reading times ,,,,,,,,my 'me' times are in the evening before sleep and also weekend mornings.
Hi all,I'm Sandra Balzo (Sandy--both a writer and a reader. I'm originally from Wisconsin (Brookfield, near Milwaukee), but have been living in South Florida for five years and also spend time in the mountains of North Carolina. I love books and just downloaded The Darkling by R.B. Chesterton.
Hi all. I'm Lorraine and new to Goodreads. I love Horrors and thrillers, mainly the ones with a good twist that you just don't see coming. Thanks for having me!
Hi all, I'm a 45 y.o italian guy who really loves american mysteries and thrillers. I especially love recurring characters and series, so I've read the complete serie of Connelly, Freeman, Lehane, Slaughter, Gerritsen, Pelecanos, Montanari, Lansdale, Iles plus all Coben's stand alone and some Winslow and Ellroy. Of course I enjoyed european Nesbo, Larsson, Indridason and Kepler. Unfortunately many good series aren't translated in italian so I miss Craig Johnson, Steve Hamilton, John Lescroart, Lousie Penny and many others' series. If any of you needs a personal review about all the above mentioned series I'd be happy to help.

Welcome to the group, Lorraine. We are very excited to have you join our merry band. I like books with plot twists, too. They make you catch your breath and gasp at the end, don't they? I love those.

Hi everyone. Thank you to Jenni for asking me to be her friend (now I have 3!) and asking to join the group. I am a 40 year old mother and wife in Kansas City. My kids are 18, 16 and 14. And my two furkids are 6 and 5. I love to read...drives the family crazy. I sometimes wish I had a more active hobby, but hey my brain is in great shape! :) Some of my favorite authors are Kristin Hannah (love her), Linda Fairstein (who actually respond to an email I wrote her) and Benjamin Black. I have been interested I historical fiction lately, but read all genres. Would love to write my own book someday, but still haven't started. Every time I think about it, I get overwhelmed. I am a collector of books and hope that heaven is one huge library. I would love to own a bookstore, but those are sadly and quickly becoming a thing of the past. That's me in paragraph. :)
Hello everyone, I'm Monica from Taiwan. I like to read and I read just about everything. Crime novels are my favorite though. I read the complete works of Raymond Chandler and Lawrence Block (almost) and would like to find books of the same kind. I'm now on the fourth of S.J. Rozan's Bill & Lydia series and I enjoy the series a lot! It's always nice to meet new people, thanks for having me :)
Hi allI’m Tracey from London, UK and I am very pleased to have found this group.
Some of my favourite MCT authors – Denis Lehane, James Lee Burke, John le Carre, William Landy - plus I love reading the ‘Nordic noir’ authors.
From the UK, I’d recommend Belinda Bauer and Peter May to US readers if they haven’t come across them
I’m looking forward to reading everyone’s opinions, discovering more authors and making some new friends.
;-)
Jenni wrote: "Hi Enrico, Great to have an Italian here with a superb author list that he reads. So do you read these books all translated to Italian? Do you not read any in English?I love Italy which I think..."
Hi Jenni, yes, I read them all translated in italian. I didn't dare to read any in english yet, 'cause I'm worried that reading a mystery implies to be able to read "among the lines" to understand the details and I'm not sure I'd be able to do it. I still have books to read in italian (some Winslow, some Ellroy, Crais, Burke and most UK writers etc.) and I'm sure I'll jump to english ones once the good books will finish. I know I'm missing some good ones (last two Connelly's Harry Bosch for example)and also this push me to try them soon. May I ask what recurring mystery/thriller characters you loved most and in which order?
Annie wrote: "Hi everyone, I'm from northwest England, I love reading and discovering new authors, but I love Makin new friends "Hi Annie, I'm from the North West I like books set in Manchester welcome to the group.
Donna wrote: "Hi all! I'm Donna from northwest UK and I'm a book addict! My absolute favourite author is Karin Slaughter followed by Chris Carter, Simon Beckett, Jillianne Hoffman and many other crime and thrill..."Hi Donna & everyone who's joined over the weekend.
I'm from the North West I joined the group last year & have recently been an active member I'm discovering new authors each time I log on my husband is moaning about the parcels from Amazon!!! My reading was getting stale until I started researching what friends read & what their friends read etc... I've found new authors from Ireland that I would never had considered reading before.

Jac wrote: "Monica wrote: "Hello everyone, I'm Monica from Taiwan. I like to read and I read just about everything. Crime novels are my favorite though. I read the complete works of Raymond Chandler and Lawren..."Hi, Jac, I read the versions I can find. For Chandler and Block we have very well translated versions in Mandarin Chinese. I just borrow from our library. As for Rozan, unfortunately, it's not translated. I buy paperbacks online. There's an online bookstore where I can find English books (and books in other foreign languages) easily. They don't have everything, but so far I've been able to find whatever I was looking for. I also buy most of my books on that site, if not in a bookstore I happen to walk in.
Hi everyone, I recently joined the group. I live in the Humber region (England) and I've been on Goodreads for quite a while. I like most genres but apart from those embraced by this group my other love is horror. With work, family, dog and reading I sadly get little time to interact on GR, but I try to catch up once in a while.
Welcome to all the new members that have joined over the weekend! I hope that you find all that you're looking for and if you don't, just let us know!

Thanks Jac. I'm in Wimbledon - sitting in the garden in the sunshine reading The Snowman by Jo Nesbo. Can't really tune-into the snowy setting today! :-)
Hi, new members. I'm Victoria and I love Raymond Chandler, Matt Beyton Rees, Ken Bruen, Dash Hammett, Alan Furst, Daniel Silva, Tom Rob Smith...hmmmm, so many. Anyway - great to have more people with whom to share spies, killers, and detectives
Greetings from Toronto, Canada! I apologize for this late intro. I'm having too much fun with this group. I just love a good story whether it's written on paper or from a senior citizen in the grocery store checkout line. I don't care about metaphors and symbolism. I just want to get lost in a story. My favourites: Ian Rankin, Peter Robinson and Michael Connelly. Being Canadian I also enjoy Giles Blunt and Gail Bowen.
Bill wrote: "Giles Blunt is a favourite of mine as well, Donna. Have you read any L.R. Wright?"No I haven't. I will add his name to my to read list. Thanks.

Hi Joni, I'm from Los Angeles, but I live in Galveston, Texas now, love it and write about it in my mysteries. Consider NaNoWriMo.org to take up a challenge amoung supportive folks. There's a CampNaNoWriMo.org (where you set your goal) in July.

Yes, I know, that's not close at all. I love horror, not the slasher stuff because I find that annoying, but the true fight against evil stories. Those can make me sleep with my light on.
