Welcome, Tammy! I was just thinking the other day how great it would be to be a librarian! Such a wonderful job working your way towards your goal!
It's a pleasure to have you joining our group!

I'm looking forward to discussing mysteries and finding new authors to read.
I've just finished reading Harlan Coben's newest, Six Years and before that, Faithful Place by Tana French.

How was Six Years? It looked great? It's a pleasure to have you here!

Thanks Andrea! I'm happy to be here.
Six Years was non-stop action. At times I almost felt dizzy trying to keep up but I did enjoy it.

I am trying to write my own thriller, but time is not on my side!

My family actually live off the A36 between Southampton and Salisbury, so if I am ever down we shall have to hook up and talk crime and mystery!
I am currently reading the Talented Mr Ripley; I have seen the film but the book is really creepy (which is great). I have one of the April books to move on to so I can join a discussion, but in the meantime I shall read the January comments about Gone Girl.
One great perk to living in Yorkshire is that every year crime writers flock to Harrogate for the Crime Writing Festival in July, which is a wonderful event for fans. Last year I saw Harlen Coben and Jo Nesbo amoung many others.

Welcome Cath! It's a pleasure to have you join us!
Good luck with the writing! I've always thought that I would like to write, but have never given it a shot!
I'm certain as you look over the threads around here, you will find plenty of great reads and recommendations.
I look forward to future conversations with you and to hear your opinions and great books!

I wish we had anything near to that!

Don't be afraid, just jump right in, and if you'd like help, just ask for it! There are many wonderful people in the group that would drop anything to help you!

I was just thinking of the same thing!

My name is Estelle, 22y/o, an undergrad studying in London. I am from Singapore.
When I first started reading, I focus mainly on mystery-thriller, but after reading too much of it, I got bored and started reading all other genres. Now, I see mystery/thriller and true crime as my favorites.

My name is Amber J. Boyd (or AJ) and I am a 33 y/o Medical Biller who like everyone else in Michigan is trying to find work.
I have always been an avid reader, and I was named fo..."
I love Gillian Flynn too, I look forward to read her 'gone girl' :)

Welcome to the group Estelle! I find myself dreading all over the place in my reading but my roots are still mystery/thriller! I, too love true crime and psychological thrillers!
What is it that you are studying?

Welcome to the group Jack! Thanks for sharing your story with us! You have found yourself a great new home in reading and literature! It's a pleasure to have you aboard!

Thank You.

Hi Jack, welcome to the group! I'm from Long Island also. Haven't lived there in over 20 years but was born and raised in Glen Cove. What part of the Island are you from?

I’m out east not far from Port Jeff... Rocky Point.

Hi Andrea,
I'm studying biomedical sciences.

Ok, I kind of know where that is! It's nice to have another Islander here! I think you will enjoy this group a lot!

Greetings from Burlington Vermont! I'm a well aged seller of furniture in a beautiful lakeside city owned by a cat.
I've been enjoying reading for over 51 years after I discovered the Cave Twins series. My Mom introduced me to Nancy Drew and I was hooked on Mysteries! I try not to limit myself to one genre, reading what ever catches my imagination, either fiction or nonfiction. I do stay away from Vampires and Zombies. I guess I like a good story. My favorite authors are Ian Rankin ( the Rebus series ), Kate Morton, Louise Penny, Chris Bohjalian, Reeve Lindburg and Tana French just to name a few.

I joined Goodreads about a few days ago, originally as a way to market a new mystery book I'm publishing ("Halls of Ivy"), but what really got me to stay was all the features to help me find new books to read. I just spent the last few hours looking through books that look interesting that I plan to read.
I don't read for pleasure as much as I should (having just finished grad school, all my reading was journal articles and textbooks). I do love mystery books and thrillers, mostly stuff with zombies and stuff with post-apocalyptic settings. But I love anything unusual or exotic that catches my attention (as you can see by my shelf, I have some variety). Looking forward to looking at the different groups and finding stuff to read.

I have always loved mysteries and what I call "police procedurals"; my favorite writers in these genres are Ruth Rendell, Michael Connelly, and John Sandford, but I will try just about anything once.
Looking forward to reading with y'all!
