Kate Vane (katevane) Hi

I am a keen reader of crime fiction and author of a psychological crime novel Recognition. I live in Devon, England.

I like crime writers who create complex characters - eg Barbara Vine / Ruth Rendell, Val McDermid, John le Carre, James Ellroy. I also like reading crime fiction in translation.

Looking forward to hearing about new authors and discussing some favourites.

message 1062: by Charlotte (new)

Charlotte Hello, and thanks to Ashton for the invite to join this group. I suppose it should have occurred to me that there could be reading groups for mystery/crime thrillers here on Goodreads, but somehow I never took the time to look.
Anyways, I am a huge mystery/crime fan, Agatha Christie being my all-time favourite. More recently I have begun reading Val McDermid, Ian Rankin and Jo Nesbo.

Andrea Corley | 1298 comments I don't think I've picked out a book of my own to read (with the exception of The Storyteller that I just picked up from the library on Friday) since I joined groups in September. Well maybe in January because all of my groups had freebie months due to the holiday's to catch up!

Britney (tarheels) | 108 comments Hi everyone,

I have been a member of goodreads for awhile, but just recently joined this group.

Mystery and Thrillers are my favorite books, but have gotten into ready YA Dystopian lately. Every free time I get I try to read.

I also am into crocheting. I will go spurts with thats all I do then I get tired and don't crochet for months. Lately I have been busy with riding our 4-wheeler (I have a husband who thinks he a teenager) so I haven't had time to read which sucks.

I currently work in the medical field. I love the human body and medicine. I would like to go back to school to be a Psychologist, but it probably won't happen for a few years.

I am looking forward to seeing what everyone is reading and discussion books.

message 1079: by Kristen (new)

Kristen Hello All! My name is Kristen Jones and I live in Ontario, Canada. Novels based on mystery and crime plots have always been my "go to" read. Although I am Canadian, I am drawn to books set in the UK. I have family in the Hastings area of Southern England and my husband's family hails from Ayr, Scotland. I find that any plot that takes me to similar settings draws me in immediately and wins me over.

James Patterson was always an easy pick, but my favourites are currently Ian Rankin, Alex Grey and Craig Russell. I am looking to expand my area of selection with new authors, while sticking to a familiar genre. This is my first time joining a Goodreads group and I am looking forward to the experience!

message 1099: by Val (new)

Val (valz) | 51 comments Well I've belonged to this group for awhile and never did drop in to introduce myself. I love books, period. So I read a lot of genres but never tire of thrillers (esp. psychological ones) and mysteries. I like contemporary stories or ones in the future but not too interested in the past. (exceptions of course).

I've gotten some good ideas for books from this group and that's great! I am a Canadian but I live in the Pacific NW in the US.
