Welcome Leon and the rest of today's new members. I read that articlelink to the NY Times article if anyone is interested.

Hi Everyone, My name is Nancy and I have been an avid reader ever since my uncles introduced me to the magic of reading at about age 5. I just recently retired from a wonderful job as a high school librarian. I also previously taught French and Spanish, and currently teach English to non-English speaking adults. I still meet with young adults and with a group of like-minded adult readers and we have great fun recommending books to each other. I LOVE Good Reads, belong to several groups on here, and am delighted to be a part of this group because mysteries are my very favorite genre.

Thanks, Leigh Anne. I certainly am enjoying my retirement because I have so much more time to read!
hi, just recently came to the group, love crime, psychological thrillers and contemporary books, love to read when I have time, 5 kids so time is precious.
Goodness, Nicola, you are busy! Welcome to the group! I love all the same books you enjoy. I look forward to seeing what books you add to the discussion!
Hello all! I just discovered Goodreads through the NY Times article and am thrilled! I read a lot of different genres, but mysteries are my favorite. My favorite authors of all time are Michael Connelly and John Sanford. I'm excited to find new authors as well.Thank you all for being part of this great experience!

About the only sub gen..."Welcome Jonetta! I have to agree with Jenni, cozies are my guilty pleasure as well. After reading the darker stuff I grab a cozy to cleanse the mental palet.
Plus, that's what I write, so I think EVERYONE should be reading them. ;)

I am also trying my first Baldacci book right now. Welcome to the group!

I've been following Harry's growth for the past 20 years and I love him more with each book.
Hi, my name is John and I'm an alcoholic... oops, wrong group. I'm 58 years old and live in Alabama. I love to read, mostly mystery and thrillers, but other things as well. Favorite authors are Michael Connelly, David Baldacci, Karin Slaughter, Lee Child, Robert Crais, Robert B. Parker, Paul LeVine, Anne Perry and anything with Sherlock Holmes. I'm also a huge Harry Potter fan and an avid genealogist.
Autumn wrote: "Welcome, John! How ever did you find our group? ;) You are going to love it!"A friend told me about it and thought I would check it out. She occasionally gives good advice. ;-)
Welcome, John. Except for the author list, of which only some of mine are on there, your posting sounds like I wrote it about myself. :-) I just joined this group, also, because it looks like fun.
Hello, I am Isabel and I live in Spain. I love reading books, mainly crime fiction, English literature and children literature. Amongst the crime fiction writers, my favourite is Fred Vargas, but I enjoy also Mankell, PD James and Camilleri. There is also a Spanish author who hasn't been translated into English (although his books can be found in German and French) who I also love, Lorenzo Silva.
Wecome Isobel, nice of you to join us. I would love to see Spain sometime. I've some PD James and I agree he's quite good.
Welcome Isabel Its nice to have you join us a couple of those authors are new to me i will certainly look out for them
Thank you very much for the warm welcome. :). Linda, PD James is actually a female as is Fred Vargas (Frédérique). This last one is French.
Hello, my name is Taylor. I've been a member for about a week now. I love this group. Everyone is so active, and the threads are most fun. I love reading crime novels. My favorite authors include Michael Connelly, Patricia Cornwell, Lisa Gardner, and Dennis Lehane. Other than devouring crime novels, I also enjoy reading Cultural fiction, and writing short stories.
Hi, I'm retired and live in Springfield, Illinois (the Land of Lincoln). Love mysteries and thrillers but will read just about anything including the backs of cereal boxes. My oldest daughter introduced me to Goodreads at Thanksgiving last year and I really like being able to record my books and review those I feel strongly about. Currently in the process of sorting my books, scanning titles into Goodreads, and preparing myself to move them on to their new homes. I read a lot on the Kindle now because I simply do not have room to keep all my "real" books. That's not to say that I don't still read (and, in fact, am currently reading) "real" books - just have focused on the ereader. I look forward to sharing thoughts and opinions with you all.
My name is Andrea and I'm 28 and live in West Virginia. I have two kids (7 & 6). I love reading and find that generally I lean towards mystery and thriller books. I somehow (can't even remember really) came across Lisa Gardner and have been in love with her ever since! It was after I finished Catch Me and nothing was in the works from her that I thought I would look for something new! I joined Goodreads in September and have since found so many new author's and genre's that I would have never touched before!I joined this group to participate in the challenges really but have really enjoyed my time here so far!
Hello, my name is Frank. I am 46 years old and live in Maine. I am the lead teacher in a special purpose school for children with disabilities. I have always loved to read. As a young boy some of my best memories were of waking up at two o'clock in the morning out to camp and finding my mother curled up in her moo moo with a cup of coffee reading a book. I remember her going out to dinner on Saturday nights and if I had been good I would wake up to a new Hardy Boys book. Since then I have been a life long reader. I enjoy reading almost all genres but mysteries are my favorite. Some of my favorite authors are Jan Burke, Lee Childs, Craig Johnson, Steven James, Harlan Coben, James Patterson on so many more. Currently, I started the Lincoln Perry series by Michael Koryta. Only on book two, but so far I love them.

I'm Chris, and new to the group, and suddenly feeling like a new member of AA :-) Yes, I am addicted to mysteries, crime and espionage. There is no hope I'll ever stop reading them, so I sure am glad to have found you.
Hello, I'm Author, Cilla McCain. I joined this group in the hope of honing my craft by interacting with readers such as yourself. For example, I have 2 true crime books currently in progress and I'm wondering what readers think of enhanced ebooks. My plan is to include videos, audio, court documents and more in the ebook version of the titles. What are your feelings on this idea? Thanks!
Cilla

Hi, My name is Mary and I have just joined this group. I love a good crime/mystery and am currently reading books by Aline Templeton, Martin Edwards and Susan Hill. I really like the Scandinavian/Nordic writers also, Camilla Lackberg, Karin Fossum etc. I am looking forward to keeping up-to-date on this site and getting some good recommendations from members.
Mary, if you like mystery, you have come to the perfect group! We are thrilled to have you. I am a big fan of Nordic Noir, too. I like Karin Fossum, Camilla Lackberg, and I love Henning Mankell. Have you tried any of his books? If not, you might start with Faceless Killers. There are so many new Nordic writers in vogue these days. We must talk about them later. ; )After you browse around a bit, please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.
Hi, Luke! I actually read some books this summer about hiking the AT. It is a daunting challenge, and I wish you the best of luck. Do you have a buddy or family member hiking with you, or are you a solo hiker? I know books are a great source of comfort on the trail. We are thrilled to welcome you to our group. : )
