Sharon Hello! I was invited here by Jenni. So glad to be invited! I live in the Phoenix area with my husband, two daughters, and cat, and work part-time from home as a newspaper copyeditor.

I'll read just about anything, but I really love mysteries/thrillers and literary fiction. I suppose it would be relevant to mention here my favorite mystery writers: Kate Atkinson, Tana French, Gillian Flynn, Jo Nesbo...but have many more to explore. Looking forward to being a part of this group!

Hello everyone i'm Stacie and I live in Maryland I love to read just about anything although mysteries and dystopians are my favorites.
I am currently disabled so I spend alot of my time reading when I am not doing family stuff.

Linda (beaulieulinda117gmailcom) | 1403 comments Hi Stacie nice to meet you, enjoy yourself.

message 454: by Mindy (new)

Mindy (undertowsoul) Barbara, Kyle, Sharon and Stacie!

Barbara - I'm looking forward to reading some of your stuff! I have a few friends who are published authors (even a couple best-seller friends) and, for some reason, I always spend extra time on the writing of those I meet/know. Looking forward to it.
Kyle - Sounds like you're a busy man and about to be even more sleep-deprived but congrats!
Sharon - We're glad to have you in the group! Make sure you check out our threads we have going for book discussions and reading challenges. There are some there I'll bet you'll enjoy.
Stacie - I'm sorry to hear about the disability part of things, I've been there myself. After 4 years I finally found a job I can do that doesn't make me worse but, like you, I read a lot. Also, we share favorite categories but I would throw thrillers in as well.

Again, welcome to all of you and please don't hesitate to ask if there's something you would like to see in the group!

peg (mcicutti) I love it too when I can stay home and enjoy it but fighting the elements to go to work is another story. It's getting old.

Thanks, Mindy. I hope you will, because the last couple, SUSPICION and HINDSIGHT, were mysteries. SUSPICION is also a ghost story. I like mixing and matching genres. Look forward to getting to know folks here.

Kelly (dearbooks.iloveyou) (dearbooksiloveyou) Hi all! My name is Kelly and I live smack dab in the middle of the US, good old Kansas (please, no toto jokes). I love coffee, books, and dogs (in no particular order). I tend to shy away from radishes, socks with sandals, and mullets (but, to each is own). I absolutely love to see what other people are reading, so feel free to friend me if you would like as some of my best reads have come from the recommendation of others. Happy reading!

I must be living under a rock, Ashton, because I hadn't heard about this movie. But, after checking it out, my son and I cannot wait to go!

Barbara, I am partial to any and all dogs granted they are partial to me. Right now, I have a long haired Schnauzer and what I can only assume is a Golden mixed with Collie. When I was younger, I always said that if I made it rich, I would start my own "dog farm" and let all the dogs who were going to be euthanized come there to live out their days. I have become somewhat more realistic, but certainly want to do what I can to help those dogs in need. Do you have dogs?

Barbara Rogan (barbararogan) | 16 comments Kelly, I have a German Shepherd who just recently became the Dog of the House after our older shepherd died. We thought she'd be devastated, but she's quite enjoying her promotion. Quite a few of my books have dogs in them, too; and the one I'm working on now has a whole bunch of them, since the murder occurs at a training and breeding facility. Love the research on this one!

message 482: by Linda (new)

Linda (beaulieulinda117gmailcom) | 1403 comments I absolutely love dogs, I have six of them myself. They give me great comfort on my bad days, which is quite often.

Cinette Santangelo | 8 comments Hello everyone! I'm from Lethbridge Alberta, Canada. I'm a farmer/rancher/mother of four/aspiring writer. I love to read mysteries and thrillers, along with urban fantasy and some young adult. I've been 'discovering' a number of talented Canadian mystery writers lately, so I will likely nominate some of them for the monthly book discussions.

message 488: by Vellanorah (new)

Vellanorah (vellanorahsoule) Hi everyone,

I am Sian Flowers and I am a systems administrator. I love to read. My favorites tend to be eclectic. I find that the things I think I would never read, often surprise me and end of liking them too. I never judge a book by its cover but I do usually pick crazy ones because of the cover. I love bows, as in wrapped up in one but I love twists too. I do prefer the actual book to the digital version but I think its the smell that gets me.

If you have a must read, let me know. I have a stack by my bed but I am always looking for new GREAT ones.

message 489: by Linda (new)

Linda (beaulieulinda117gmailcom) | 1403 comments Welcome Sian, I often buy my books by the look of the over.

message 490: by Rachel (new)

Rachel hi i'm rachel from new jersey- staying inside tonight as we just had a blizzard last night- did i mention i hate the winter lol.

i love mystery/thrillers but read a variety of genres.

thanks for the invite jenni :D

message 491: by Rachel (new)

Rachel actually my area got about a foot (give or take a few inches)- long island and new england got much more.

as far as what qualifies as a blizzard- i'm not sure what the cut off is but a foot certainly counts lol

curling up with a good book is always a good idea- blizzard or no blizzard ;)

message 492: by Rachel (new)

Rachel typical for alaska maybe but not the northeast lol
my heart goes out to those who get 3 feet of snow on a regular basis- that has to be a huge pain

message 493: by Caroline (new)

Caroline (ladyyarn) Hi there everyone...my name is Caroline, I live in South Carolina...My favorites are classic lit, true crimes, classic/cozie mysteries...Every once in a while, I indulge in thrillers/suspense and sci-fi/fantasy. Anne Rice is an old favorite, and I will NOT pick up any book with vampires, werewolves etc... Twilight, highly overrated, too many other good reads out there to enjoy instead... Robert Ludlum, John LeCarre, Dick Francis, and of course, Agatha Christie and the complete Sherlock Holmes collection, which I am fortunate enough to own...need to check which edition...not even sure...Michael Connelley, John Grisham and Stephen King are right up there too...devoured his books throughout the 90's...though have not read much of his newer stuff...I read horror books because they do not disturb my dreams as much as WATCHING horror films...which I had to give up about 10 years ago...My night terrors increased a thousand-fold whenever I watched one...would put me on edge for weeks...So I no longer put myself through it...Our weather isn't so great right now...lots of fog and rain, with flood watches quite often. Cannot wait for spring...For now, I curl up with great reads, listen to audiobooks while I knit or crochet and spend about an hour each day reading the classics with my sister...who is the one who got me into mysteries to begin with...she is very well read...I've never met another bookhound as well read as she...E-books are ok...But there is nothing like the written word in its original form...I grew up reading Honey Bunch and Norman, Nancy Drew/Hardy boys but none are left in my collection today...sadly they were left behind in an old move...regret that deeply... I hope wherever you are in your universe you are all well and happy reading!

message 494: by Caroline (new)

Caroline (ladyyarn) Thanks for the welcome Ashton, I mostly lurk for now, but figured I'd better say hello...I am looking forward to reading all the interesting discussions this group will have...I am kind of new to cozie mysteries, but the classics are my favorite...And as for Michael Connelly, he wasn't the one I meant that I haven't read in a while..I agree with you that he does create great reads with every book...Having fun already...Now if I could just figure out how to add books I own properly...taking time...

message 495: by Caroline (new)

Caroline (ladyyarn) Thanks Jenni!,

This group has me very excited...reading as much as I can to settle in...Have a great day/evening...

I love to travel and have been to England half a dozen times and Australia and New Zealand (What a country!).
