Susan, in your GR profile page, you should find a place to start adding your writing. It's hard to find if you don't have any writing, but the prompt should be around there somewhere. If you can't find it, try your GR home page.

If I find my GR home page, will i be able to upload my short story, or do i have to start writing it all over again? Thanks very much.

you're right. It's Alfred. I mixed up the names since Albertine reminded me of Albert, which is similar to Alfred.
Was his driver English, then? Alfred isn't a very Gallic name.
Hello folks. My story, 'Mr Morden's Tree', has a tangential relationship to my love of Proust. It's not particularly Proustian in style but I don't think I would have attempted a story that consists of a single thousand-word sentence if I hadn't read the Recherche :)

It's published in Brixton-based Oblong magazine (only three quid!) :

Thank you for posting, Joshua. I look forward to reading the excerpt...not sure if the whole story will be available in the US.Yesterday morning as I was reading a few pages of Proust I wondered if Proust would have found a willing publisher in today's world. It's heartening to know your story with a thousand-word sentence was published.
Again, I look forward to reading your excerpt this evening.
Maybe he would have taken this approach:http://www.mcnallyjackson.com/self-pu...
Sarah McNally is in one of my Proust reading groups.
Here is a NYTimes article about her and the independent bookstore.

Thanks Marcelita. I love Sarah's quote: “I believe that within every great reader there are multitudes of people,” she said. “And you have to open yourself to all of them. I love British chick lit and I love Proust. Don’t judge yourself! There are so many kinds of writing that are great but bear no relation to each other. ‘A Book of Memories’ by Peter Nadas is like climbing a mountain. ‘Cutting for Stone’ is like going down a waterslide.”
I agree with Nick. I have to visit the Espresso machine next time I'm in New York...imagine a warm newly printed book in hand...AND I am dying to see the Book Mobiles!
Nick wrote: "That's amazing, Marcelita!! I might have to visit and get them to print me one!"Will it be your book? Self-publishing on music?
I wouldn't do one on music i think. I might just write one in a week and get it published there :p Or see what their "cloud" has!

Plus, it is close to my favorite place to get lox and bagels, Russ & Daughters.

And Katz's Deli is just down the street from Russ & Daughters!

Katz's Pastrami is my favorite sandwich, which I split with a friend.
Now...I am ravenous.
See you soon...

Hi Joshua, I finally had a moment to read...however I clicked on the above link and it seemed not to work.
Hey Cheryl. Sorry for my delay in response, and thanks for following the link!
The server does seem to be running very slowly. Not sure what's happening there. My homepage (on which the excerpt is also visible) seems to work better:

Not really writing, but a blog post about Proust. I wrote it after beginning this week's reading... I'm putting it here because my blog has links to other stuff I write, which is definitely not Proust-related.http://drunkardsjourney.blogspot.com/...
Martin wrote: "Not really writing, but a blog post about Proust. I wrote it after beginning this week's reading... I'm putting it here because my blog has links to other stuff I write, which is definitely not Pro..."Very nice Martin. Book sniffing? Interesting concept. I think Proust would approve.

Anyway, great post.

I don't know how much difference I would have made. I'm not a Tweeter, so I don't have that many followers. P. is the one who's a serious Tweeter.
