Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12604 comments I like Agatha Christie too, just picked a bad couple the last two ones I've read. Glad you are only 4 behind now.

Elle (louiselesley) | 6579 comments I need to start reading some more Christie

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments I've loved all the ones I've read so far, some more than others but I am taking breaks in between most of them. I think reading them all in one go would be, well impossible.

My first thought was impossible, then I realised you could be put off for a bit if you did

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments I think you would get too fed up before you even got halfway through

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments I have done it with the paperbacks. I tend to do that with certain authors...

message 57: by Elle (new)

Elle (louiselesley) | 6579 comments I did it with J R Ward and the Percy Jackson series.. and..... I think I did it with the first 9 Sherrilyn Kenyon books but part from that I always try to break up my series'

message 58: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Bearing in mind I am talking about Agatha Christie and she has like 80 odd books. I mean you couldn't read all of those in in 1 go without reading something else inbetween

message 59: by Elle (new)

Elle (louiselesley) | 6579 comments Ye I got pretty fed up with 9 nevermind 80

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments I don't think I have all 80, but they take up nearly one long bookshelf. And yes I have read them all one afte rthe other. Honest!

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments I have to admit, I am impressed GL. I'm reading them in batches of 3 or 4 but switch to something different so I don't make myself sick of them

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12604 comments I got fed up part way through a 16 book series last year, although at least with Agatha you could switch between characters. Final series of Poirot starts tomorrow,ad new Marple next week.

Between a hairdressers app and nice weather, I've managed to get 33% into Odd Hours, if the weathers good tomorrow I should nearly finish it. Just updated my shelf though, and the tracker tells me I am still 3 books behind. If I can finish Odd Hours today though, that will only be 2 behind, and I am going away for the weekend next month, so the travelling and plane journey should allow me to read at least one.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12604 comments Well, I have finished Odd Hours, not my favourite of the series though. So have read 19 books, yet the ticker tells me I am 'still' 3 books behind, I don't get that. So, book 5 of my 6 part series, but compared to the 16 book series last year, it feels a bit tame, so I might have to do another series later in the year.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12604 comments 60ish% into Odd Apocalypse, ticker tells me I am now 4 books behind. Have started a paperback, a Henning Mankel one as part of my A-Z challenge, but not getting much time to read this week. Am hoping new foster has a couple of weeks before dropping, that should give me a bit more time for a few weeks, and I have to spend 4 hours travelling plus an hour flight in a fortnight, should be able to get through at least one book then, and one book on the way home.

Elle (louiselesley) | 6579 comments Going well Desley! Don't worry abut the ticker! You can always catch up with shorts?

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12604 comments I think I will have to read some shorts soon, wasn't the intention for the year though.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12604 comments Am up to 20 books now, but now 5 behind - I don't like the ticker this year!! Oh well, I'm leaving the house at 8.30 tomorrow and don't fly till 1, then an hour flight, so if I can't finish my last Odd Thomas book in that time there is something wrong. Looking forward to reading something different though, going to continue with my alphabet challenge, but might do it the wrong way round to read Peter James next.

message 68: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments I know I'm still about 7 books behind. Hope you finish the last Odd Thomas book tomorrow, I take it you have enjoyed the series?

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12604 comments That makes me feel better! Erm, a bit mixed and not sure they should beread consecutively

message 70: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments I've read all my shorter books so now I'm left with the long ones. I'll never get caught up!!

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12604 comments Oh no! I really struggled with the last Dean Koontz book, think I was too distracted to be able to focus enough. Now started Soul View by Jeff Inlo, have whizzed through the first 24%, think I'll have to find some easy reads for a while

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12604 comments Soul View was quite easy to read, and think I will have to re-read the last two Dean Koontz books at some point, when I can focus better. Now starting Perfect People by Peter James, hopefully this won't be too hard to focus on, I love Peter James' detective books (actually got a few on the TBR pile). Ticker still says I'm 5 books behind, think it's lying to me, as it doesn't change when I put an extra book read on.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12604 comments The PEter James book took longer to read than I thought, and not sure I Enjoyed it as much as his usual stuff. Now reading Buster's law, am 59% in already and only started it yesterday (did have a hairdressers appointment though, so an hour and a half to read, and then had a bout of insomnia, so another hour to read). IT has been keep wanting to read it more than the Peter James.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12604 comments Hmm, lost my post!!

I finally finished reading Perfect People, not sure it took me so long because I had so much on, but it didn't grip me as much as his normal stuff. Now reading Buster's law, really engrossed with this, even reading it while waiting for pages to load on here!! Am up to 59% even though I only started it yesterday (but did have a hairdressers appointment, so an hour and a half to read, and a bout of insomnia so another hour to read - kept saying 'just one more chapter!!'.) Just found out she has written another book, so bought it, definitely a good sign. Fortunately not cried as much as I thought I would. So 22 books read according to my list, I was 8 books behind last week, so don't even want to look at my ticker.

Elle (louiselesley) | 6579 comments glad you are enjoying your book!

message 76: by Desley (Cat fosterer) (last edited Aug 25, 2013 02:35AM) (new)

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12604 comments Well, I've read 25, which means I'm halfway there (although still 7 books behind), have read 2 classics - think I aimed for 4, but will be happy with 2. Appear to be struggling with paperbacks though, I've read 6, which is also half way through. Might just read a paperback this weekend to help catch up. Have some great paperbacks to read too, but kindle is just so much easier.

message 77: by Elle (new)

Elle (louiselesley) | 6579 comments any classics are good in my books.

i really take a dislike to this idea that as a book lover you must read the classics (which i generally detest).

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12604 comments Yeah, I hate that too, I read what I like, not what I am expected to read or what everyone else is reading

message 79: by Elle (new)

Elle (louiselesley) | 6579 comments Same!! Plus classics are a genre to themselves. If you don't read modern general fiction/drama then what is the chance you'll enjoy an older version of it?! Eurgh :(

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12604 comments Never thought of it like that!! 12 pages left on my paperback, and if might do a watching challenge next year as well as my reading one (inspired by Tim)

message 81: by Elle (new)

Elle (louiselesley) | 6579 comments Ye I am going to include a watching challenge next year too :)!

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12604 comments Finally finished Natural Causes, can't believe it took me so long to read it. Found the ending a bit disappointing, but would read others.

WAs going to read Bet you can't... Find Me, but disappointed with formatting issues.

Still 9 books behind, so maybe a short would be better!!

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12604 comments 28 read, still 9 behind!!! At least I'm consistent!!! I'm enjoying my current book although it does need formatting.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12604 comments 29 read, now 8 behind!! Starting two books, one paperback, one kindle, so that should help with the stats, and both are for my A-Z challenge.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12604 comments 30 read, still 9 behind. I am being sent to a meeting on Fri that involves about 4 hours of travelling, so hoping to finish this one and start another. Reading 2 at once actually got me 10 books behind, although I am going to keep doing it.

message 86: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments I'm now 14 books behind! I can't quite seem to catch up on myself although I've managed to a little over the last few days. You should get a good amount of reading done in 4 hours!

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12604 comments That makes me feel better! I'm hoping to finish my current book, I'm about 60% in, parts of it are terribly dull.

message 88: by Desley (Cat fosterer) (last edited Oct 20, 2013 03:49AM) (new)

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12604 comments Travelling on Fri was good, finished the book I was reading, read a short, and got 30% into the next book, so now only 7 books behind - nope, just checked and it is still saying 8 books behind, getting fed up of that ticker!! And a lot closer to finishing my A-Z challenge.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12604 comments Finished another book, but my ticker isn't acknowledging it. Doubt i am going to make my target this year, only read 33 books, doubt I can read 16 (currently reading one) before the end of the year, unless I just only read shorts, which I don't really want to do. Am already thinking about next years target though.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12604 comments Only up tp 35, with 2 on the go, so no chance of meeting my target. I am considering next years target and goals.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12604 comments Another one read, so only read 36 so far this year. Fingers crossed I can get my A-Z challenge finished, cos at 10 books behind, no way will I be meeting this challenge.

message 92: by Elle (new)

Elle (louiselesley) | 6579 comments Did you enjoy the books you read though?

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12604 comments Some, not all

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12604 comments 39 read, and 2 currently reading, so will hit 40, just not the 50 I wanted to.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12604 comments Well, not as good I as had hoped, I only hit one of the three targets, although the other two were close.

Books read: 43/50.
Paperbacks 10/12

If I can read that amount next year though, I will beat two targets.
