I think Tolkien's female names generally lend themselves better to use in this world, though I love the male names as well. I would suggest that Rohir ("horse lord") would perhaps work better than the collective Rohirrim ("Horse Lords"), or perhaps Elrond's son's name: Elrohir.

I have also met two Arwens in my lifetime, one of them was named before the movies came out and I think that is awesome!

A future cat might be named Aulë or after one of the Elves.

My son and daughter:Turin Turambar and Luthien
Galadriel's kids:Lorien, Beren, Nienna, Vala, Nessa, Quenya
Arwen's kids:Anduin, Theoden, Laurelin, Strider, Ea
Theoden's kids:Eowyn, Elena, Arwen
We all obviously loved our names enough to continue the tradition. We've never regretted our names for a moment.

My most notorious online nick, however, is Lalaith.

That is the awesomest thing I have ever heard!

Laurelin sounds very beautiful! I would also consider it for my daughter. I also like the name Silmarien/Silmarillion.

'It's a beautiful and meaningful name.
My family names our dog Rivendell...I also call her Shadowfax:)) Every time I play a game where we make up names I'm Arwen but now apparently there's some TV show with a boy names Arwen and my friends are like, "Uhh, thats a boy name..."
My cousins named their dogs Merry and Pippin an they know someone who named their dog Strider.

I remember our old maid calling him "Biubo"... guess she did not even hear about Tolkien... LOL.

Haha, yeah it seemed to a popular name for pets when I was growing up.

(For my second dog, we switched to Narnia and called her Lucy)

Haha, very appropriate :)
We had a dog named Rover.
