My name is Rebekkah Ford. I'm an author of a YA paranormal series. My first book BEYOND THE EYES is already published. My second book in the series (DARK SPIRITS) will be published next month.
I grew up reading Anne Rice. I love her stories and how she writes. I also love George Orwell, Stephen King, JK Rowling, The Hunger Games and Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater.

I want to read some of Tamora Pierce's books, but they're all sold out at the bookstore :( What did Kim Richardson write?

we are name buddy's! I have read the Kane Chronicles and I thought that they have the same sort of feeling as his Greek/Roman books. I like more magic-ky, spells, charms stuff so I thoroughly enjoyed his Egyptian books too.
Anyways welcome to !YA Heroines!
Hi everyone!
I'm Charity, and I think there need to be more kick-butt heroines in YA fiction. Like a lot of people have already mentioned, I enjoyed the Hunger Games trilogy, and I'm just starting Divergent. Recently I have also gotten hooked on modern-day rewrites of Jane Austen novels. This weekend I read one called "Persuade Me" (obviously based on Persuasion) and "Epic Fail" (based on Pride & Prejudice).
My favorite genres are science fiction, paranormal and fantasy.
I just posted my A-Z. I'm excited to get to know everyone!

I agree with you on the fact that YA seriously needs more kick-butt heroines! We girls are far more capible than YA portrays us as.
I wish you a great time in !YA Heroines!

I'm an author with several books published under a different pen name through various publishers. I decided to self pub this YA/NA series under a different pen name since my other work is, umm, erotic. ;-)Anywho, I'm looking forward to clicking around and jumping in discussions. :)

I'm Danielle, 29, from Ireland. Publishing intern and obsessed with YA! Glad to meet everyone! <3

Welcome Grace, glad you found our elusive introductions page! I love Graceling, Fire and Bitterblue they are my absolute favourite books too! Feel free to comment on any of the posts and most of all please enjoy our group.

Last last year I put out my first novel titled: A Tale of Red Riding, Rise of the Alpha Huntress and it has been reviewing fantastically on Amazon! I hope you will check it out! ttp://www.amazon.com/dp/B009JOLQDI

Here is a little synopsis of the story...
In this action-packed twist on the beloved Grimm Fairytale, Red Riding will not only face dangerous wolves; she will have to face the wolf within herself. Gifted with the power to transform into a werewolf, she will rise to become a legendary warrior known as the Alpha Huntress. Accompanied by bad-boy heartthrob Wolfgang Helheim, Red will lead a tribe of loyal followers armed with mystical powers of their own against a vile lunar deity, who plans to thrust Wayward Woods into eternal night.

My name is Travis Bughi, and I've never known a reading world where women couldn't hold their own (and I like it that way!). I've been an avid reader since I could read and also enjoying writing as well. Thank you all for having me here!

Too many books to name a favorite, but some of my fave heroines are Leslie Burke, Dicey Tillerman, Hermione Granger, and Katniss Everdeen.
I read everything, but I do have a special place for Margaret Atwood. And my newest discovery is Cassandra Clare - I raced through the Mortal Instruments series in about a week and a half.
Currently I'm taking a break from fantasy and reading Silver Linings Playbook.

My name's Line, and I'm from Denmark...
I love YA litt., as it is an easy read, and they generally have good storylines and cool characters...
I don't really have one YA book, that I absolutely love, but that's propably because I set the bar a little to high...
Lately I've been reading the 2 first 'Divergent' books, which I found pretty good, and right now I'm reading the 'A game of thrones' series, though I'm still only on the first book...

I'm always interested in recommendations of books with good female characters. I actually started writing because when I was much younger, I didn't like most of the female characters I saw on tv or in book. They were always in need of saving and none of them could take down the villains themselves even when they were the main character. The first break I got from that was when I was given a copy of Alanna (T. Pierce) when I was in jr. high and I've enjoyed YA ever since.
Anyway, I look forward to getting to meet you and get some good recommendations to add to my list.

I hope to get along well with everyone and have some nice discussions.

I'll be going to college next year to major in Gender, Women, and Sexuality stories (which explains why I'm here) and I LOVE discussing books (I already read Cinder, so I might jump into that discussion).
I generally am not a big reader, but I will "binge read" if the book is as good as the ones I've mentioned previously. Just an fyi, I don't like the Twilight series.

Anyways welcome to !YA Heroines! Mallory!
